GOOD Youtube personalities/channels - The anti-cows if you will

Personally, I've been binge watching a lot of Oddity Archive lately. Ben's definitely a sperg and his jokes are a bit hit and miss, but I've never seen someone cover teletext channels or Macrovision in such an interesting and engaging way. He's also a huge music nerd, which I can respect, even if our windows of knowledge are wildly different.

Man, I love it when Ben talks about records or tapes. I dunno why, but they usually tend to be the better episodes of OA.

As for my other favorites, I think many of them have already been said (Vinesauce, RLM, TFS, etc.). I don't think The 8-Bit Guy's been mentioned yet, however. I'm a bit of a sucker for old technology and software. So I usually watch his videos whenever I feel like looking at some old, obsolete tech.

Bill Hammack from the University of Illinois makes some great videos about the engineering underlying a variety of subjects. What I enjoy about his videos is that while they're definitely presented as 'general audience' information, they are very well produced and thorough visual explanations of complex technical subjects, and aren't the cheap, superficial "10 things you didn't know about _____" crap that's all over Youtube.

Fredrik Knudsen. He makes short documentaries about weird stuff on the internet and historical oddities. I like that he stays objective and simply focuses on retelling the events as they happened.

I recently got into Aydin Paladin. She mainly does political commentary à la Sargon of Akkad, but she has the spunk and brains to back herself up. There's too many good examples to give, so I'll just post the video that got me to subscribe.

Seconding this. I was interested in his channel just before he released his "Fall of Bleach" video, and that right there cemented him as a hidden gem.

I like him enough, but the whole attitude of "LAST AIRBENDER IS THE BEST TV SHOW EVER" throughout his Korra reviews is just terrible. Can't believe people are still hailing that show as a landmark of television after a decade.

Cinema Snob/Phelous: Hands down the two greatest members of Channel Awesome by a country mile.

Bright Sun Films: All about businesses and media that failed/went bankrupt. Oddly informative.

ChrisRayGun: Analytical YouTuber, mostly towards PC and SJWs. Would fit in perfectly on the site:

I agree with Chris Ray Gun as well. I love his shitposting videos and he's the only one in that skeptic/anti-sjw group who doesn't make me cringe.

Obsolete Oddity is another favorite of mine. He talks about weird history stories and does urban exploration videos. His videos always have a good atmosphere and look to them which makes them more enjoyable and realistic.
