The mumble rap in the trailer is cringe...what were they thinking. If this movie doesn’t lose a couple hundred million for the studio I will be surprised. Ridley lost the plot a long time ago.
 
First Gladiator was an extremely serious, somber, emotional movie. What kind of music should we use for the sequel's trailer? Why, rap and hip hop of course!

Hollywood needs to be burned to the ground.
 
Joe Hoeffner from The Daily Beast is blaming Nerdrotics for review bombing Gladiator 2, calling him and his supporters "anti-woke trolls".

And of course, Joe Hoeffner look like (and acts like) a soyboy beta cuck.

I think the movie would have been better as a standalone with no connection to Gladiator. Sure it's still weird with the rap music but at least it would have been its own thing without pissing fans of the first movie off. Now it's getting way more laughed at.

Hollywood lacks common sense. No wonder its rightfully imploding. They are all in a bubble ignoring what the audience wants. Rap music in a Gladiator movie? Are you fucking kidding me? Who approved that shit? Some DEI retard to lure black people into the movie?

The sets and costumes look great. I'm sure many people put a lot of work into this movie. But good looking sets & costumes can't make up for the retards in the writing room and the idiots who create dumb trailers.
 
Apparently the budget for this is a ridiculous $310 million, Ridley Scott is out of his fucking mind, this is going to be a massive flop.

I also wish Denzel Washington wasn't involved with this, the guy's a good actor, he shouldn't reduce himself to being a mere diversity hire.

For a moment I thought this would be a thread to celebrate the (thus far) success that is the new series of Gladiators in the UK. Instead it is much more disappointing and will bring much less joy to the world.
 
Time is proving again who the better Scott was. Ridley needs a fucking wrangler but its too late in his career already for that, should have got one when he started doing his religious mombo jombo Alien follow ups. If your going to do this with that insane budget, might as well stick to the original raw script in the first place where Maximus battles Jesus and is some FBI agent and fought in every war. I like how the trailer spoils everything by the looks of it.
 
If you HAD to do it. The only valid candidate as a Hip Hop artist to be featured on Gladiator was to go full circle and choose MF DOOM.

The end credit is Denzel/Macrinus acclaimed as Imperator/Princeps to the sound of thunderous applause while Lucius either dies or rides off into the sunset with a Nubian love interest?

It's curious how the movie is going to depict Caracalla (nobody gives a shit about Geta) as MOVIE!Commodus 2.0 when he was a soldier-emperor to his core, like his father Septimius Severus. His brief reign can be summed up as 'fuck the Senate', kill Germans, kill Parthians, kill anyone who talks shit about me, build big stuff (Baths of Caracalla), tax the shit out of everybody to pay for all of this fun./his/

Just another movie that did not need, or justify, a sequel.

Ridley Scott's worked with Denzel before on Man on Fire and American Gangster. It doesn't hurt if you, an actor, get a call from your friend, a well-known director, for a role in a sequel to one of his most respected films. Denzel probably didn't need to audition; he'll need to be at this place at this time to read lines. Leave the salary negotiations to his agent, and... boom; you're in the movie.

Ridley's gone to shit yes (he was always kind of shit anyway), but blame the studios for still giving him money despite repeated flops. Feels like the dude's on a quest to make as many historically inaccurate movies as possible just to spite people who complained about Gladiator back in 2000.

In Hollywood, it's all about who you know, and whether that someone likes you enough to give you a shot. Denzel working with Tony for Man on Fire reinforces the point that him getting in with the Scott brothers early in his career certainly contributed to him becoming the high-profile actor he is today.
