Original Gladior took a loot of liberties but at least was a good and entertaining movie. Last 20 years of Ridley Scott''s seem like deliberate shitpost but I fail to see what the joke is supposed to be. That, or he leeched off other peoples work in his early career ala "New Hope" until he became so big that he didn't need others anymore.

Scott's last movie was literally a compilation of as many historical inaccuracies he could think of regarding Napoleon, and putting little effort into the history has been a thing for some time now. I feel like the original Gladiator being in a position where it was both successful as fuck and torn apart by historians broke him in some way.

One of a kind art is often messy.
Too many movies nowadays are just soulless products created for the sole purpose of generating a profit and launching a franchise.
Those movies are boring and predictable, you can't even laugh at them because the behind the scenes grunts usually do a good job so they're solid on a technical level.
This? This is art.
It's made to say something.
You might not like what's being said or how it's presented but this is the result of one passionate man having a clear vision and executing it.
It's the first movie this year where I had no fucking clue where it's going and I'm an expert at predicting plots of movies, ask the attendees of the Kiwi Farms Movie Night
In my perfect hypothetical movie industry, passion projects like this one would be made all the time instead of Jurassic World 8 and Avengers 15.
