RU Germany reveals when it will run out of gas. - As relayed to us by Russian media. Awful premonition or scare by the bear?

Key takeaways:

" Natural gas storage facilities in Germany are half-empty, economy ministry says

Natural gas reserves in Germany, which has one of the highest underground gas storage capacities in Europe, have fallen to historically low levels compared with previous years.
“According to the consolidated register of gas storage facilities of the European association Gas Infrastructure Europe, Germany’s gas storage facilities are 50.6% full (as of January 11, 2022),”
the German Ministry of Economy said in response to a deputy's request as quoted by RIA. “This corresponds to a theoretical working gas availability of 17.7 days,” it added.
This comes as Russian energy giant Gazprom said on Monday it has not booked any capacity to pump gas to Europe through the Yamal pipeline next month.

The Yamal-Europe pipeline, which usually delivers Russian gas west into Europe, continued to send it eastward from Germany to Poland for a 28th successive day on Monday, data from German network operator Gascade showed. The route between Poland and Germany had been operating in reverse mode since December 21, putting upward pressure on European gas prices.

Economists are warning of energy price spikes deeper into the winter, saying that Europe is yet to find itself physically short of gas during the current gas year, which began in October.
Overall, European storage facilities were 49.33% full as of January 12, according to Gas Infrastructure Europe. If the current rate of withdrawal is sustained, Europe’s reserves could be fully depleted by the end of winter delivery, it said." "

Bet the germs now wish they had gone full nuclear like the french instead of betting the farm on bullshit like biomass (read: shredded trees, literally)
Some of them maybe, like the Bavarians. Turboprogressive hippies like the Berliners? Definitely no.
1. shut down all coal mining and power plants cuz green engery!
They actually didn't. The electric grid needs a base load - the minimum demand that needs to be met - and that's being provided by fossil fuel plants, a good number of them operating on coal. They're actually polluting more than before the country-wide shutdown of nuclear plants. Shot themselves in the foot, the dumb fucks.

I hope this collides with their shutdown of nuclear, and huge ramp-up of gas power, into a catastrophe they deserve.

Germany and much of the worldwide left silently push fossil fuels as replacements for nuclear, driving up co2 emissions, because of political tradition against nuclear, going against everything they say about global warming.

there was never much drilling and refineries are working overtime right now.

lets hope its not. We are 10 days away from a very very fast deal about nordstream 2.
Scholz is already naming Nordstream 2 as one of the possible ways to sanction Russia if they do shit in the Ukraine.
Baerbock had tried to put a stop to it in December already.
They're really eager for it to never happen, and it's gonna be cold winters in the future.
Unless they're gonna reboot that LPG harbor again so we get gas shipped to us from the US, which is of course super eco-friendly.

All bets are off if Russia invades ukraine, but that will not happen.

Well the Swamp krauts are maybe usefull for once, they are opening up everything, even if it will send half the country to the bottom of the sea because they dont want freezing germans making deals with russia.

.
Shouldn't have told the Bad Orange Man to piss off when he wanted to make a deal to increase American LNG exports to Europe by a bajillion percent, eh, Germs?

Freeze you dumb krauts.

We should have told him to fuck off completely and that Nuland bitch who was handing out Sandwhiches during the Maidan should've not even been allowed to fly in European airspace. Then there wouldn't have been any problems. "Fuck you, your refugee-spawning wars and interventions and your overpriced gas" should have been the answer to Trump.

Should have been dealing with the Russians as normal, not expanding Nato or the EU into countries that are corrupt shitholes only to piss off a paranoid Putin and told those whiny Baltic morons to learn to play nice with Russia instead of constantly antagonizing the bear and then running home to EU to cry.

This partly includes Poland, but Poland has the second largest army in the EU at the moment and is mostly doing it for internal purposes so to deflect blame from their own increasingly authoritarian governments laws and amendments.

Let's be real, going full nuclear works when you have oodles of pacific islands to dump your waste into, like the French do.
They actually recycle the shit out of it and store the remainder in a basement. Roughly a 30-year half life on that stuff.

Calm down.

You don't want to see my electricity bill.
Its starting to get as high as an average monthly wage for some people.

Now if you earn that much you can probably handle it, as you earn more than an average one.

My situation is not that bad but its not good.

Im sure the rest of us Europoors (this actually stings this time around) feel the same.

You should blame the people above you who decided to climb into bed with the notoriously unreliable Putin who (quite wisely IMO) uses a strategic resource such as fossil fuels as leverage, unlike the USA who considers it a mere commodity most of the time.

So its not about calm down eh, you just got stroked wrong.

The Russians are barely even retaliating, but if its anything its retaliation for OUR sanctions against Russia. Though it's worse than that. European leaders are not getting in bed with Putin and thats the problem. They are doing the opposite, they are in many cases refusing gas and bleeding their own reserves "unless Putin resolves issues with Ukraine" and are certainly stalling Nord Stream 2. Europe and Russia is bleeding over US foreign policy interests in a country that whether under our influence or under Russian influence is not getting any more democratic or any less corrupt.

Had we acutally goten in bed with Putin over Ukraine, we would have had endless amounts of cheap ass gas and the farmers of France, Italy and Spain would not have had to throw their cheese, fruit and veggies literally on heaps infront of the government buildings because export markets were closed, again due to us starting sanctions on Russia.

GDP growth in the EU and Russia would probably have been 1-2% higher which would have seriously mitigated the post-Corona recovery thats going to be needed.

As Snek said. They store it on-site at La Hague. These big in-ground storage vaults in a room about the size of a basketball court. That's all of their long-lived waste from 40+ years of nuclear power right there in one spot. This is their intermediate facility while the short-lived isotopes decay and the heat load dissipates. Supposedly the long-term permanent geologic storage is going to be up and running to take it in 2035. But you know how that can be.

Bet the germs now wish they had gone full nuclear like the french instead of betting the farm on bullshit like biomass (read: shredded trees, literally)
Support for nuclear is growing and is easily over 50%, but our government doesn't even pretend to represent the people anymore, and there's no way we're getting nuclear power back.
Funny enough, whenever they mention that the nuclear waste problem is unsolved (as if that's a problem that just goes away if you stop using nuclear power) and you say that there will be solutions, they will say that's unwarranted faith in technology.
But when they claim that going 100% renewables is totally feasible and also cheap and you mention the problem of energy storage and capacity factors, they'll claim that the technology for that is totally gonna come soon and will hear nothing about unwarranted faith in technology.
There's a plan for Berlin to go full renewable. It involves installing 26 GWh of battery capacity. The paper also mentions the importance of geothermal power for the region, which is hilarious because the report itself notes that the geothermal potential there is maybe 700 MW, so practically a drop on the hot stone.

Ah, so if we had cozied up to the people being dicks to us they wouldn't be dicks to us. Didn't work when you went along with the US, why do you think the Russians will play any nicer?

Premonition or scare?

Both.

Russia controls the taps. This is pure racketeering. "Do what we say or the taps get turned off".
We controlled the taps to their food and shut the taps off. Luckily both Russia and the EU have means, if not very graceful such, to surviving this trade war.

Nothing compared to how America held the taps to basic medicines to Iraqi children and turned the taps off killing more kids in a few years than Saddam did during decades of rule. But thats geopolitics for you, I guess.

JFC, and geothermal? in germany? how?

Time to crank up the homemade sauerkraut and start producing your own gas, boxheads.
