General Wrestling Discussion

While it would be the TNA way to somehow survive losing everyone who knows how to run it and all their top talents - it’s happened more than once to this company - I don’t think anyone wasn’t expecting TNA to be brought into the fold more permanently as a Feeder Fed.

They’ll probably find a way to exist if in name only - truly the DSP of Wrestling Promotions - but I’m just expecting a buyout announcement, with TNA becoming a way for indie performers who don’t need as much polish to be brought in.
Someone once said that even in the event of a nuclear apocalypse, a bunch of cockroaches would stumble upon the ruins of the TNA studio and start running it. Jarret must have held the first event on some Injun burial ground or something. When the universe ends the only thing left will be DSP streaming himself watching TNA,
I somewhat don't mind when women wrestlers do flippyshit because it feels like it makes sense for women.

When men do flippyshit it looks incredibly faggy.
It's when they just stand there for half a minute waiting for everyone to get in position for them to do their flippy shit that drives me insane, There should be a rule in multi man matches where if you spend more than 5 seconds on the turnbuckle your ass is getting thrown off it,

I haven't seen it yet but apparently Mercedes and Hazuki had a MOTY candidate on Dynamite last night.

Hazuki has said she wants to work in the US more so this may have be her job interview for AEW/WWE in much the same way as Vaquer went about it.

A YouTube channel I follow is claiming that allegedly, WWE has right of first bid when it comes to any potential sale of TNA.

But I've also been lurking on /pw/ and a lot of anons there doubt WWE wants anything further to do with TNA beyond poaching.

Would they not want the rights to their video library?

It's darkly funny that Santana might be the guy to kill TNA.

But I know who can save it.

Honestly, if he can renew whatever dark magic was used to found TNA, it'll likely outlive us all.

If the Network still existed I'd be all for them purchasing the TNA Library and throwing it on there - yeah, you have to dig to find the good stuff depending on the year, but when TNA had good matches they were damn good matches.

As is, the biggest names in that library are either retired or not working for WWE, so I can see them not viewing it as a priority. Thank God for whatever intern just throws an entire year of TNA shows on YouTube Streams, because that's probably the closest we're getting to a properly preserved TNA Library.

This was the argument used for when RoH came up for sale but they didn't try to outbid AEW for it to get their tape library which had matches featuring a bunch of current WWE stars.

WWE is very much a "walled garden". Bigger talent get to keep their own name/gimmick but everyone else gets reset and given a NXT Random Name Generator identity. AAA has managed to escape this fate because lucha fans would just switch to CMLL if WWE tried to exercise more influence. Same thing happened a few years back when they tried to buy either NOAH or Dragonsgate to establish NXT Japan. The industry over there closed ranks and nixed the idea.

Unless they are planning to buy TNA and merge it with NXT (I reckon this is the plan), they'll let it go out of business and TK will end up spending millions to buy streaming rights to Generation Me matches/add another 10 belts to AEW. WWE will poach whoever they think is worthwhile and wonder why no one gives a shit about them as they job to The Rocks 5th cousin twice removed/some black guy called Jon'Tavios Deshawn.

Didn't he do enough when he did the triple h gimmick of burying everyone. And he's not even half as good as trips. Slapnuts wtf
Funny, I always saw the Impact Zone packed while he was around. Were there blunders? Yeah, everyone brings up Monty Brown.

But Jeff Jarrett lost. He dropped the title to AJ Styles (twice), to Christian, to Rhino, and Sting. Every time it meant something. How many times did Fumble H do it? :smug:

I still stand by my schizo theory that any interest WWE had in the RoH library was to drive up the price for TK, solely because RoH had the All In video rights.

Sure, it would've been nice to have for video packages considering how much talent dotting the company had stints in RoH, but you can't tell me that Vince wasn't that level of petty that he wouldn't get a kick out of owning the PPV rights to the show that was essentially his competitions genesis if he wound up outbidding TK.

That's probably why they haven't. Very few would talk about him being a pedophile. Even if they don't like him, WWE would pretty much blacklist them if they did talk about it
Sad fact that pretty much everyone likes Lawler because if he agreed to have you come to Memphis and work with him, you made money. Period. Nobody ever lost money working with Lawler in Memphis. And he stayed in Memphis for the most part, he didn't overstep his boundaries. Which Vince appreciated, he didn't have to spend money to run Lawler out of business because Lawler didn't try to expand his borders. He was satisfied with being King of Memphis. And then when the time came he didn't put up a fight, he happily went into the WWF, did whatever Vince wanted, gave Vince and the WWF wrestlers all his considerable expertise. Plus being a scumbag fucking underage teen girls wasn't exactly a rarity in rasslin (especially in the South) ever, big shrug on that, 'just the way things are' from most people in the business until the culture changed

Got around to watching Hazuki v. Mercedes. It's honestly crazy how some US wrestlers can just "click" into the Japanese style of wrestling. You could put Mercedes against pretty much any Stardom girl and they might well steal the show for the night.

I know the AEW v. Stardom match at Forbidden Door is Thekla v. SLK but Tony would be stupid if he didn't get someone else from Stardom over to have a match against Mercedes. Fuck it, just have her and Hazuki do another match.

Certain western wrestlers just fucking love working with Japanese talent and it really shows. Kenny is the obvious example but Mox ended up knocking the Dean Ambrose stink off himself by working NJPW dates in the early AEW days. Hell, even the Hulkster was a completely different worker in Japan when he showed up there back in the day, dude was doing insugiris and shit.

But has the culture really changed? The shit we hear about wrestlers from the past, we didn't know about (much) in real time. What twisted shit the current crop of wrestlers may be up to will we hear about 10-20 years from now. Most wrestlers do not seem like well adjusted people.

Anyone who is willing to endure the damage to their body and the loss of quality of life it causes is not wired correctly.
