Gaming Youtubers who don't suck?

The now defunct Inside Gaming and Funhaus before advertisers (and thus Rooster Teeth who bought them) hit cursing and edgy humor was very decent pre 2018 or so. It took a nosedive after three of the big talents left and never recovered.
The backlog for people unfamiliar is enormous and in contrast to more modern let's players, it's more about riffing off of eachother and tight comedic editing.

I haven't really found an alternative that reminds me of hanging out with my friends as a teen, passing around a controller playing the halo 3 campaign like that channel did.

Demo Disk was so much fun, man:

I hate pretty much all gaming 'tubers, but one guy I do watch occasionally is IcarusLIVES for info about cool & weird Doom mods. pagb666 also does playthroughs of a huge variety of old shooters, new retro shooters, and custom maps for a bunch of different games, and unlike most retards who record playthroughs, he's actually good at playing them.

Already said previously but I also will throw my hat in on Kruggsmash and mandaloregaming. There's also Rimmy Downunder who does some fun little vid's around arma 3 and Zerkovich for warhammer 3 shit.

Hope you lads enjoy, cheers for the list's provided before me, will definitely check them out.

I won't mention people like Sseth or Fleekazoid since I assume most people here are already familiar with them. I'll just mention minor channels that don't really get a ton of coverage.

Primeradiancy for his 'President's play Mass Effect' series. Decent background noise and surprisingly entertaining.
MehrunesMike. Not many videos, but the Morrowind challenge run videos (Which constitute 100% of his channel's output at this point in time) are entertaining. Similar to Justbackgroundnoise.
DaveyGunface. Quite autistic. Lukewarm towards his 'war crimes' videos but the challenge runs and whatnot are decent background noise.
SaintJam. More challenge runs, kinda based.
Hypertension films. Reviewer. His Splinter Cell videos are quite good.
Blackyoshi. Sseth-like but British.
CJU. Plays horror games, no face cam or overreactions. Similar to Manlybadasshero but plays a more narrow breadth of games.
SomeAlcoholic. Very small channel at the moment. His system shock 2 video is decent.
CumDungeonGaming. Ignore the name. Right-wing allusion in his videos. His Dead Rising trilogy of playthroughs are quite good.
Deffy. Kind've doesn't count since he has only uploaded a single video, a 3 hour review of Deadwood but it's a good video.
Jimmy Mcgee. Reviewer. His diablo 4 critique is pretty good.
ZERO. Challenge runner. Best comparison is to a larger channel, Dante Ravioli. Essentially create a weird sort of narrative to go along with the challenge run. Entertaining enough.
LeChumQc. Covers lore for FPS games, such as Quake, Doom and Fear. Solid background noise channel.
Manley Reviews. Larger channel I think (Has high viewcounts). Reviewer, implements a greenscreen. Similar to Nakeyjakey. Low video output.
Baalgorn. Ymfah-like channel doing challenge runs of souls games.
Low Time Preference Gaming. Maxor but for HOI4. Low output but sneaks in a lot of right-wing memes if you care about that.
Charlatan Wonder. Reviewer. Mostly obscure games or games that didn't receive a lot of attention.
Be And. Ymfah-like. More dark souls challenge runs.

I only know old SA-era 'toobers and let's players that, for the most part, don't play much anymore. Like OneFJef - He has since settled down and gotten a life. Or Grimith, who mostly streams Daggerfall r*leplay ad nauseam now, though I fondly remember his Star Control let's play. I think he might've had his brain broken by a lardwhale femoid streamer.

I'd say Avoiding The Puddle is one, or even Asmongold (who does play games, but it's not his main focus).

You have SmallAnt & SmallAnt VODS for I guess some niche content, he has from Pokémon challenges (like escape rooms, map randomizers, coop, hackrom challenges, etc), to Mario Odyssey with friends and other miscellanous stuff. Similarly, you have PointCrow & PointCrow VODS (they're friends with SmallAnt) which is similar but with more Zelda, although these last months he has been focusing too much in Ironmon or one of those hackroms. He has random content as well.

You have 360Chrism for Pokémon speedruns, more niche than the previous two; one series you might enjoy is his Battle Tower Monotype Challenge if you like Emerald, but again, it's niche.

You have Prod, which has (to me) videogamedunkey vibes in humor, but his videos are longer and would be more like gaming, instead of reviews.

Of course: LobosJr, if you like "souls-games", and he's obviously good at them.

You had Cryaotic, but as eveyone knows, he got cancelled. I do think he had talent & a good career, yes, actual streamer career due to his fanbase, but he wasted all for nothing.

A super inconsistent one is CoryxKenshin, he mostly has indie horror games and miscellanous (like Geometry Dash, which was a fun one), but his personality can overcome the fact that he's playing indie horror games. He's super inconsistent because he doesn't upload anymore (or until the next purple moon) and has long hiatuses.

Pikasprey Blue for niche content; I find it enjoyable when I'm interested in the game. He is the only (recent) VTuber I can tolerate, even though I don't care about or even tolerate VTuber stuff, at all. He is the current exception in my book.

DunkOrSlam if you like Noita content, because he is exclusively on Noita.

I think I used to like Northernlion on his Isaac playthroughs, but have not watched him in years. From what I see, he's going hard in certain games I have no interest in, so can't say more than that.

It's amazing how much a tiny bit of energy and showmanship can make these challenge runs super fun to watch as opposed to the snorefest that is eazyspeezy.

If all you're looking for is no-nonsense reviews, the kind that actual gaming journalists used to do(or should be doing), Gaming Pastime has quite a collection of videos. He usually tends to do entire series of games, one after another, in 10-20 minute reviews. His reviews tend to come from Gen 6-7 games, if that's your thing.

As mentioned before Oney Plays is good, I've been watching the 5 Nights at Freddy's: Into the Pit game and the game actually looks cooler than I'd ever expected from a FNAF game. And Corey's not even that much of a sperging retard in it, shockingly.
But someone I just started watching was TToneHD. I won't watch his live streams but his condensed videos are pretty entertaining, way more than I'd expect from a streamfag.

Give Video Games Awesome a try. They were really similar to Funhaus in that it's a group of friends riffing on games. They're also defunct, pretty much officially as of a year ago but functionally since probably 2018. The episodes with just Fraser and Becky are generally the weakest, but still not bad until the later years when they got all old and jaded. Tropical Freeze was just them and it's great.

If you want a specific suggestion, watch any of their Mario Party or Jackbox videos.
