I am probably going to get some hate for this but I consider myself a feminist but I am not in the same camp as these extremists are.

There is no hating on feminists. There is hating on SJWs. This is a huge distinction. There are plenty of feminists on #gg's side, especially ones that get attacked by the SJWs (biggest is Based Mom, Christina Hoff Sommers).

What is at stake here?

Well if #GG loses, a LOT of sites and forums are going to look like what you find in the "social justice" and "trigger warning" tags on tumblr. Also you might find yourself being told to check your privilege more and have your opinions ignored or possibly be banned for being white/straight/male.

If #GamerGate 'loses', then the idea is that these guys are allowed to shitpost about everyone and everything freely and no longer have to pay respect to males.

I'd word it a bit differently, they don't want true gender equality or to really treat males like real human beings. The worst of the SJW's see white, straight males as some sort of "evil reptile race controlling the world" conspiracy theory and want revenge, to get back at them, to flip the tables on their perceived wrongs and make the other side suffer. Though a lot of them are just whiners that follow the leader and enjoy the attention and ass pats by other SJW's and the leading chunk of them want fame, control, attention and power (which is where Zoe and Anita fall into).

That's unusual since Japan usually gets a pass because a lot of the SJW's are also weebs so they turn a blind eye and only focus on the oh, so evil Western culture. Though admittedly I've noticed that they're starting to scrutinize more Japanese games now, somehow in the end they still seem to blame white males for it all though.

That was me. I can't believe with the heavily-water damaged ceilings, the poor lighting that only allows in some unfiltered light from windows above, and those steel columns that it's a convention center, it seriously looks like a warehouse. It's plausible that it could be a convention center, as I've seen department/discount stores hastily converted into "convention centers" by just stripping the décor and flooring out, so this is probably along that same line.

I'd love to see the day when people are told to "check your facts" instead of "check your privilege." I am so sick and tired of hearing about "privilege." Yes in life there are some people who are handed a better hand in life and it is a legitimate matter of discourse. However

Regarding Japanese games, I can only think of Dragon's Crown due to the Sorceress who is a buxom character (enough that A-Log would lust after her). Said character was criticized by a member of Kotaku if I recall. Even then, I'd also wonder if they'd complain about Dragon's Dogma (A game from Capcom) since your armor as a female can be a chainmail bikini, never mind the fact that even guys can have that (Leather belts and bandit stalkers, that is all). I say all this since it could be possible they might complain about female characters being sexualized for their armor.

Ok, I am going to sound like a exceptional individual here but I am really straddling the fence on this whole thing. What is at stake here? Who is winning and who is losing?

I don't do extremism, I've been there before and I've learned my lesson in that it's always good to get a story from all sides not just one or the other. Should women have better representation in videos games? Yes, but to try and bludgeon it into a culture that isn't ready or willing just yet to change is disastrous. Whatever changes need to be done will happen on its own as society changes and more people would be willing to make those changes if it comes from a rational viewpoint.

To me, this whole situation seems to have escalated to mudslinging on a level that would make politicians jealous and I am not sure what the outcome is going to be and I really don't have it to try to speculate on what that outcome is.

I think that everyone should have the freedom to have their opinions about something but to harass and try to shut down people for having opinions is wrong.

I understand, moderate vs. extremism is worse than if you were doing straight opposing sides. They'll ignore facts, pull up logical fallacies and strawmen, and move onto trying to shut you down. That's what is happening here, true feminists are being attacked because they don't subscribe to the untrue fanaticism that the SJWs have.
