I'd like to see some of these game commentators tell the "journalists", the SJWs, and the fgt drama whores on twitter to get the fuck out, instead of prancing around the issue and telling everyone to be polite and inclusive.
Indeed. The "journalist", SJW's, and the like won't actually be polite when they insult gamers as being all racist and sexist.

What's most ironic about this is that if Zoe had apologized, taken her game off of Steam, and if the game journals had washed their hands of the people responsible (or had at the very least put them on suspension) people probably wouldn't have kept digging. They should have just cut their losses and regrouped after everyone had forgotten about it. For career liars they sure are bad at this.
It's arrogance. These people believe that they are untouchable and that mindset leads you to get sloppy.

It really is amazing. I mean, this kind of sleazy behavior happens in AAA gaming (just look at EA, or Kane and Lynch), but my God these people are so sloppy and lazy. Half of this is all splashed across social media, like they didn't care who knew.

From 3600 to 500700.

EDIT: Not sure why it shows the hashtag nose-diving, but I guess its not. Re-checking it, it seems to only have dropped 600 between 2-3pm and went up to 3500 at 4pm. So I guess it just auto assumes its low between hours. idk.

I really don't understand Zoe's actions. Her love of social media has been used against her repeatedly, people screenshotting old tweets, showing old facebook conversations, etc. She goes on to twitter and complains about how bad this whole thing has made things for her and her friends. How she's always getting threats and can't go home.

Why the fuck don't she just step away from twitter for awhile? Take a break. Go dark while she touches base with people in her life. Keep things offline. I'm sure people on her side would say "She shouldn't have to" but if I was in that position then why the fuck wouldn't I want to? Maybe this is because I generally dislike how people use social websites like Facebook and don't even have a twitter account. Maybe it's because I don't like to have more than 30 facebook friends because it's hard as hell to actually follow what that many people are liking and sharing. I just don't understand how someone who is making her own games, has enough influence to go to places like PAX, and seems to have friends just can't pull themselves away from twitter. Work on your game, play video games, go out drinking with friends and DON'T tweet about it. Everything points to her needing that attention.
It's assumed by most people that she has some sort of personality disorder. ED diagnosed her with Borderline but personally I'm leaning more towards Histrionic :ween:.

This is what baffles me the most. How can somebody not apologize for anything after all of this has been exposed? There are so many people who still aren't budging, are still fighting. I understand trolls do that kind of shit, but these are people and their livelihoods. Why would anybody want to live with this constant calling-out and harassment?

If Quinn (and others) were to have just apologized publicly, removed her game as a symbol of her apology, then I wouldn't have blinked an eye on this story. Fuck I would have sided with her against harassment, I'm not going to lie. And now instead it's a full fledged #gamergate clusterfuck that the thread's title couldn't have even thought to have predicted.

But I suppose it's the simple principle that if she were to have had the humility to do that, she wouldn't have fucked herself over into that position in the first place.

All analysis is that learning from previous examples (read: things like the Anita debacle, which turned into a shitstorm because of assholes on both sides), she realized that there truly was no such thing as bad publicity.

At the risk of sounding mean-spirited, someone like Zoe thrives on professional victimhood. Attacking her head-on doesn't work, because, like many trolls and lolcows that use this maneuver, she knows how to exploit it. Call her out on douchebaggery, and you're a misogynist. Call her out on conflicts of interest, and you're against women. Point out how a very fascinating interview with the creator of Bayonetta explained that the entire purpose of the game was to create an empowered female protagonist with practically weaponized sexuality, and you're told you're for the objectivication of women.

And because there's never a shortage of useful exploitable morons, this strategy tends to work... In the short term. You of course have assholes like this insufferable fucking simpleton, whom being associated with is like having that uncle you don't like to talk about that was in the Klan coming to visit, because their presence does as much harm to your cause in the long term as it does good. But the professional victims don't care about this. As long as you're willing to screech for them, you're a tool in their arsenal that they can and will use like a blunt instrument. That this tactic ultimately causes more problems than it solves isn't the focus; simply that the professional victim can milk this for all it's worth. Things like self-awareness and shame need never enter the equation.

This is not a behaviorism limited to the so-called SJW community, either. It's been seen in its polar opposites in the MRA community, and things having absolutely nothing to do with it. Indeed, you can see variations of this organism in many of our lolcows. Take CWC's community, for example - Chris isn't smart enough to use this actively, but he damned well tries to exploit "I'm a constant victim, and thus am important" angle at all times. In the role of "useful idiot," you have Anna, who functionally screens Chris from any legitimate criticism he'd face on his Facebook for doing shit that would have gotten any lesser 'tard arrested.

Aye, but that's how scandals are created. How big would Watergate be if Nixon admitted that his friends broke into a hotel room and had them arrested then and there?

In Nixon's case, he cut his losses by just resigning (instead of playing the victim), but the damage was done. After Watergate, no one quite respected the office of the President the same way ever again.

At best, Gamergate has set back game journalism back at least ten years, and that's if this blows over quickly.

Can I be honest? To me, this whole thing really just looks like a whole lot of middle to upper middle class kids (Or mid-to-late-twenty/thirty somethings who should be acting their age. "Children at heart" who "Never let their inner child die" if you would) flinging shit at each other?

Edit - And I hope that doesn't seem like I am trying to be edgy or some shit. I mean, I'm an upper-middle class twenty-something.

But, it's the way both sides are handling it that make me think this way. Yeah, they both have their better sides and legitimate points, but I think these are rooted in greater issues within Gaming Culture, and I think ultimately if there is going to be any progress, both of these sub-factions are going to need to realize they are on the same team and join together to push for better games. Because in the end, I think the better, smarter people who actually care about games and don't just view it as the D-Day of the Culture War, are the more powerful elements of both factions.

However the journalists/bloggers/commenters shouting that all of #GamerGate is fat smelly neckbeards and that all of #NotYourShield are sock puppets are fucking idiots contributing nothing to the discussion.

The SJWs treating this like it's the war they've been preparing for all their lives, the proverbial Ragnarok of the Internet, and the #GamerGate people who are treating it in the same way, are pulling what to me resembles High School Drama bullshit, as adults.

I dunno, man, I just can't wait for all this shit to pass.
