Emilia's just straight up roasting the show at this point.

I think she might want something a bit stronger for the finale. I can't say I blame her. She's given her all to that show, and soldiered on through two aneurysms, and the powers that be respond by having her character derail horribly to subvert expectations.

I feel so bad for Emilia. Regardless of what you think of her acting, she seems like a fun person and I hate to see such optimism shamelessly destroyed all in one sitting. That was her character and they butchered it. It probably devastated her something fierce.

Honestly I like to think Emilia is one of the r/freefolk shitposters, and after all is said and done she can enjoy her millions and a life of easy and fun roles in flicks/shows she likes. Least she deserves after working herself through aneurysms only to be rewarded with this resolution.

Martin isn't a good writer or even an original writer. He's stated he based the story on the War of the Roses and threw in some fantasy/scifi elements. I'm always surprised how some people try to apply 21st century morality/standards to a medieval setting. If you take it for what it really is it's a great way to pass the time at the doctor's office/beach/flight and the HBO series up to S4 was fun to watch. The moment the shills began bombarding us with YASS KWEEN SLAY and faux outrage is what turned it all into a dumpster fire.

I can't blame Martin if he deliberately sabotaged both the books and the HBO series. Imagine the millennial feminists and their beta orbiters as well as Hollywood scum constantly pestering Martin to turn his fantasy story into a statement of 21st century girl power. I'd do it too, it's a big FUCK YOU to all of them.

I feel bad for the actors but particularly for Emilia. Coming back from two aneurysms wasn't easy. And I hope the damage to D&D is irreparable because had they had a scintilla of talent it may have worked. But this proves they're talentless hacks.

I feel especially bad for Emilia because it seems like every time she's tried to step out of Thrones it's been a fumble -- Solo, Terminator Genisys. The latter is particularly sad because her acting specifically was considered a big part of the problem, even though she likely suffered from bad direction and was definitely miscast (she's no Sarah Connor, unless you're doing the original bewildered waitress take on her, and probably not even then).

Martin hasn't even written another book since the show got this big, and Dany going all Mad Queen has been a concern of book readers for 20 years now. Unless ASOIAF is an extremely late reaction to the 90's political correctness movement feminists have nothing to do with him sabotaging the series.

The way in which they (and the rest of the mass market) are to blame is that GRRM gave D&D a plot point that relied on two things: framing Dany's actions as potentially bad, and having a more appealing alternative monarch who Dany hadn't already swayed to her side. By axing fAegon and refusing to have Tyrion spend the last 4 seasons whispering to Dany about killing everyone in King's Landing (due to the character's popularity), D&D basically shot themselves in the foot with no alternative but to have Dany snap in a completely unearned and poorly foreshadowed manner.

Well chaps, before I turn in for the night, how bout some music to set the mood for this thread in the coming hours as we all wait for the inevitable...

Just remember that even when tonights shitshow is over, the nightmare of DnD Star Wars is still on the horizon...

Good points but I'm referring to the HBO series fanbase. Martin has always been slow to release the ASOIAF books but once the HBO series exploded in popularity I feel Martin was unprepared for the attention he received as well as the pressure it put on the book series-WoW was split into to two books, none of which are forthcoming any time soon.

I also remember when GOT began airing and every tumblr and facebook was just chock full of GOT and the Daenarys vs the patriarchy posts by giddy women, tweens and twinks. It was nauseating but that's HBO's core audience.

Imagine being Martin and being mobbed by these people everywhere you go. I imagine the novelty wears off quickly and after 10 years you just want to kill it with fire. So he did, apparently.

D&D flopped when Martin's material ran out. Since they can't write for shit they nuked it as well.

At least with Star Wars, you can just watch the Original Trilogy (and maybe the Prequels/Rogue One if you're up to it) and enjoy them as their own self-contained story. With GOT, a decade's worth of narrative build up has been destroyed and all we are left with is a failed TV show and an incomplete book series.

It's almost as if people forget that this is fiction and a source of escapism.

Edit : I know it's a little early for the memes, but these two pics are funny.

I studied a whole lot of medieval British history for my BA. It's far more entertaining than GOT, at least to me. Edward II and hot poker up the ass was a medieval meme.

Wait she actually had a brain aneurysm?

Ok last post for the night. By my estimation it starts in exactly one hour....

Figuratively speaking the doors are being bolted around us this very moment, crossbowmen are taking position on the balconies above, and the band is juuust starting to play The Rains of Castamere....

Those who still have a modicum of hype...I apologize for what you are about to see
