It’s a moot point. They had no battle sprites up until now. It was the front facing view typical of the 1-7 DQ games

Zero, every DQ has had bikini armor since III. At most the bottom piece will be stretched into a wrap like in XI due to increasingly strict CERO regulations, but booba will still bounce.

Sorry for double posting but my phone hates the quote feature.

There were no battle sprites until the float-o'-copier monsters were introduced in IV, and even then only the overworld sprites were used until VII on the psx. The new remake uses the rear view to display the party when selecting your commands for a turn, and then shifts into the classic first person view for the animations.

It was allegedly planned for the Famicom version but didn't get in due to a rushed schedule.
