The Shield game came out eventually but by the time it did, the PS2 was already being phased out for the PS3 and had a limited release.

Ironically, the plot of the game is a "lost story" set between seasons three and four and revolves around Vic manipulating Shane and Lem back into the fold so the Strike Team can bring down a major gang; thinking that if they have a common enemy and purpose, he can make Lem/Shane kiss and make up and keep the group together.

Supposedly it's on par with the 24 game (which is also another canonical "lost episode" deal that wraps up the unresolved cliffhanger from season two of that show). GTA driving/fighting/shooting stuff without the open sandbox.

Again, it's a shitty shovelware game.

the shield would have made an excellent gta type video game. patrolling the open world of farmington, roughing up the cholos, running protection for rondel robinson, and planning evidence on the one niners. all while avoiding internal affairs.

a missed opportunity. but then again all tv or movie licensed video games are low effort cash grabs. except for the nes batman and spider-man 2.

You forgot to mention SpongeBob Battle for Bikini Bottom, Simpsons Hit and Run, X-Men Origins (the game), X-Men Legends and many Star Wars games from the 90s and 2000s. They're great license games.

There are way more of them, what the fuck.

I mean, fucking Golden Eye 007, anyone?

Both South Park's The Stick of Truth and The Fractured But Whole were great, so was TellTale's The Walking Dead; I also can't believe the lack of love for Ducktails, Aladdin or TMNT games if we're talking retro games. Goof Troop was also pretty good imo. I've never played it, but people jizz over KOTOR all the time.

Even in the recent generations you had Mad Max, Shadow of Mordor and the sequel, Batman Arkham, the Spiderman games, fucking Alien Isolation and let's not forget the absolute fucking best video game ever made based on a movie or tv show:

what i meant was video games for properties that coincide with the release of a movie or such. the reason they suck is because there is little lead time to develop and the release date is fixed to a couple of months before the movie or season premiere. a lot of studios sees these games more as marketing tools than an enjoyable experience.

for examples, thor: god of thunder, captain america: super soldier, superman returns.

if the ip was used for a video game by itself, without the baggage of a movie release date, then yes, there are a lot of games that are very good.

Started watching this, currently at season 3. I'm really enjoying it for the most part.
Going in I didn't realize Kurt Sutter was involved, I watched the absolute shitshow that was Sons of Anarchy years ago and some things suddenly became a lot clearer. Like how more and more episodes decide to end on a music montage which he did in almost every episode in SoA. I also remember he really liked his sexual fetishes, most noticeably prison rape to the point where he even put himself in a rape scene in SoA.(On the receiving end no less)
So Aceveda just gets forced to suck some dude's dick. I look up who the writer for that episode was and guess what? Of course is Kurt fucking Sutter.
I'm going to make this a game from now on. Whenever things feel a little off I look up who the writer is and I bet it's going to be Kurt Sutter.

It makes me wonder was there any single point behind Sutter's fuck all writing? His writing in SoA was atrocious that it would make Hideo Kojima blush with envy.

Kurt Sutter played Margos Dezerian, an Armenian mob boss who had a foot fetish. Sutter was also pushing hard for Dutch to be a serial killer too. SOA was never very interesting to me, so even though most of The Shield’s cast had parts in SOA, I never felt like checking them out.

Between Justified and The Shield, I can't think of a TV actor with a better resume than Walton Goggins. Dude is one HELL of an actor, and he even put in a great supporting performance in The Hateful Eight.
But he was also in some crap as well. Remember, he was in that godawful 2018 Tomb Raider movie reboot and had a voice role in a shitty Spirit sequel nobody had asked for in 2021. Nobody is perfect, but he is a great actor.

I never saw the Tomb Raider reboot, or the Spirit sequel you mentioned. I was speaking more about his TV work than anything else.
