Allegedly elephants react to humans the same way that we react to animals like puppies, they think we're adorable (it hasn't been fully confirmed yet but god I hope it's true). It's also been found that elephants are surprisingly okay with being tamed by humans and our whole relationship with them is very odd. They can be viscious and deadly if provoked, but if a human gains an elephant's trust they more or less become instantly domesticated and will willingly follow directions without much fuss.

No, their spines can't handle the weight of saddles (and especially not the person sitting on them). Riding elephants is awful and incredibly harmful to their backs. Given how unexpectedly weak their spines are, basically any elephant outside of a zoo gets fucked over a bit. So I'm pretty sure a fair bit of elephants have some problems with domestication.

Oh no, I know they're super not happy with having people ride them, but they get along with humans surprisingly well. Once an elephant has adjusted to being around people they're very docile and even playful. It's even been shown in studies that elephants can actually develope very close attachments with humans very easily. It's been nited that elephants in zoos are very gentle and affectionate with the people that care for them.

Mount Rushmore was originally supposed to be carved out down to the four president's waists, but in 1941 the sculptor Gutzon Borglum died and the US entered WWII, and it was left as four busts. Gutzon Borglum himself grew up in a Mormon polygamist househould and later became a Ku Klux Klan leader.

Francis Wharton was an old-fashioned mountain man living in the wilds of British Columbia in the '50s, when one day, he found he'd lost too many of his natural teeth to chew the meat of a deer he'd just shot.
