Meet Rajneeshpuram, a former community in Wasco County, Oregon, meant for the followers of a new religion called the "Rajneesh" movement led by a man named Chandra Jain (a.k.a Rajneesh)
The movement taught a new form of meditation called "dynamic meditation", which encouraged followers to act out repressed emotions. This cathartic practice led people to scream, shake crazily, fight with other followers and openly perform sexual intercourse (something that was praised within the movement).
Rajneeshpuram had an influx of over 5,000 move into it, and along with it came a lot of money for Chandra, who asked that people give up all of their possessions before living there. With this, Chandra bought expensive watches, bracelets, and owned a whopping 93 Rolls Royce cars. In addition to Chandra's luxury was Rajneeshpuram's luxury of having it's own police force, whom owned an armoury of rifles, carbines, pistols and a squadron of scout helicopters.
Following the arrest of Rajneesh and his secretary and the news of a bioterror attack attempted by a group of Rajneesh's leading followers (which infected 751 people but luckily killed nobody), Rajneeshpuram's populace would become disillusioned with the movement and leave.
What was once Rajneeshpuram now belongs to a Christian youth camp as of 1996.
