Formula 1 Discussion - And favourite driver?

The five-second penalty for Hamilton seemed fair. Even Russell regarded it as a racing incident and placed the blame on his battery issues. If you push your accelerator all the way down you should expect your car to go flat out, but we are currently in the retard era of the sport. What we saw yesterday was a race on one of the great F1 circuits neutered by the current generation of cars. It occurs to me that we need to import the most fiscally irresponsible members of our governments into F1 and replace them with the FIA economists who believe that the outcome of races should be determined by which driver is best at managing their power supply.

I was surprised that the Piastri/Leclerc incident didn't yield a penalty as that looked more cut and dry.

A driver penalty for Hamilton for the Ferrari pratfalling in the pit-stop would have been unjust. He was focused dead ahead, as he should have been. He had no control over what the mechanics were doing and suffered as a consequence of adjustments not being made to his car.

I enjoyed Verstappen's gambit at the beginning of the race. It was always questionable whether he would be able to hold the position short-term and extremely unlikely that he would have held onto first until the end of the race, but he saw the opportunity and he roled the die.

In terms of their Hungary GP update package, does anyone know if Aston Martin have decided between the front end loader or the rotary tiller?

There is a third option.
Not so long ago jcb made a back hoe loader dragster and actually prototyped a single cell battery powered jcb for tunnel work. Both are current believed to handle better than the current Aston Martin and jcb is a sponsor.

George Russell on the radio after being taken out
I'm out, WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED WITH THE SoC [state of charge] DOWN THE STRAIGHT!?
AND I'VE NO FUCKING BATTERY DOWN THE STRAIGHT!

If the stewards had penalized both or neither, I would have been fine with it. It just seems really weird, though, to penalize an incident where one driver is clearly ahead at the turn and moves into the racing line on exit, still leaves a car width beside him, and the other guy spins because he didn't lift, and then not penalize an incident where one guy clearly squeezes the other out of room.

The typical "penalty be RAYCISS" crowd on Twitter are idiots.

Typical Osama doing Osama things, it's always everyone's fault but his.
Also antonelli wrote Happy birthday dad :)" on his champagne bottle. What a sweet child. I for one really hope he brings the title home
He seems to be the only Mercedes driver in history that has not turned into a colossal douchebag. I wouldn't be mad about him winning the chip at all.

It's not Mercedes that turns drivers in to douchebags. Douchebaggery is a trait seemingly baked into British racing drivers, it's just that Mercedes is especially good at bringing it out. I've referred to it in the past as Mansell Syndrome, as Nigel Mansell was one the most whiny douchebags to ever sit in an F1 car.

George has somehow managed to out-Mansell Mansell.

Seems like the Aston updates managed to made the Aston a little better but FP1 alone isn't exactly a good indicator (I mean Leclerc being half a second faster then P2. Really now?). Let's see how the rest of the training sessions go
