Hey Russell how does it feel to be Mercedes' Perez, fastest car by a margin but 3rd in points.

The pitlane speeding infringement are out in full now

Hambone - 60.1 kph
Gasley - 60.4 kph and 60.1 kph
Piastri - 60.1 kph
Russell - 60.1 kph
Colapinto - 60.1 kph

On the one hand you could say that many being 0.1 kph over is suspicious, but on the other hand plenty of other drivers pitted just fine without getting an investigation or penalty.

In the cooldown room it sounded like they were taking a tighter line into the pits than normal, I wonder if they cut the timing beam earlier with their front wing than they thought.

Of course Russell is crying software error and a drive through being disproportionate, ignoring that it was for him failing to follow other rules.

That penalty for Perez handing the point to Alonso is potentially massive in this season. Neither of those teams are going to be scoring points under normal circumstances so picking up 1 for Aston may have secured them 10th in the constructors and so a better pay out.

I love Alonso but I would have rather seen the point go to Checo. It would have meant a lot more to Cadillac. Anyone celebrating at Aston Martin should have the champagne slapped out of their hand.

That's 5 in a row for Kimi, and there's never been a driver in F1 history to win 5 in a row and not also bring home the WDC.

5 in a row has him now tied with; Verstappen '22, Brabham '60, Clark '65, Mansell '92, Hamilton '14, and Hamilton '20. If he wins in Barcelona next week, that would put him with Schumacher '00-'01. If I was a betting man, I would be pushing all in for Antonelli right now.

Something a bit different... the Finke Desert Race. Hundreds of cars, buggies and bikes racing through the middle of Australia. Often lethal; a rider died yesterday. It's only a two day race, but those two days are mental. Day 2 is just starting now.

Today's stream:

Yesterday's action:

im curios how far antonelli can stretch his win streak

different sport but in super bikes another Italian (nicolo bulega) is on something like a 25 race win streak and hasn’t lost a race yet in 2026

wonder whose win streak will end first lol
Some drivers have multiple 5+ streak seasons, but based on their best streak, these are the numbers Antonelli still needs to hit.

Verstappen - 10
Vettel - 9
Ascari - 7
Schumacher - 7
Rosberg - 7

Antonelli is only the 10th driver to hit a 5 streak.

I think next weekend will show us a clearer picture of the current pecking order since we go to Barcelona. I would expect Ferrari to fall behind Mclaren again as Barcelona offers a long straight and Ferrari doesn't have the horsepower to compete. And considering how quick antonelli dispatched Hamilton after the restart it should be a Mercedes duel...oh wait a damn second

FIAs best and brightest decided on who gets to upgrade their engines (ICE parts only) in the 1st upgrade period. The evaluation is purely based on the internal combustion engine.
One might think the order would be something akin to this:
  1. Mercedes
  2. Ferrari
  3. Red Bull
  4. Audi
  5. Hongda
But the FIA decided on the following order:

  1. Red Bull (0$, 0 additional testing hours)
  2. Mercedes (up to 3.000.000$, and up to 70 additional testing hours) lol
  3. Audi (up to 4.650.000$, and up to 110 additional testing hours)
  4. Honda (up to 6.450.000$, and up to 150 additional testing hours)
  5. Ferrari (up to 8.000.000$, and up to 190 additional testing hours) LOL
So if you are Mercedes or Ferrari, you could also keep the allocated hours and money, and put it into development for the next season.
These regulations and decisions made around them are so strange. The shitshow that keeps on giving.

They probably did something retarded and just looked at peak power output or something.

ETA apparently it's some sort of super secret FIA calculation

I must say I am enjoying the universal love for Kimi and laughing at Russell in pretty much every comments section on anything F1. Been a while since we could all come together and agree on something.
