Sounds like an epic failure waiting to happen. Imagine the starving sugar deprived bruthas robbing cake shops and candy stores everyday because trump didnt buy them a can opener. Taking Koko's bananas away will only lead to more crime.

Supermarkets and dollar general will be safer to shop in at least tho

It kinda blows if these boxes can't ship fresh produce, but are you telling me that these people bitching about it were buying that instead of junk food (if they were actually using it for, y'know food and not selling it off)?

This kinda sucks cause I know first hand that food stamps are a good way to supplement your groceries and there's even plenty of Farmer's Markets I've used that accept them, but shit I'd still be happy to get big box of food and it's not like you can't use money from your actual job to get produce.

It's not like it'll be getting rid of all food stamps, it would be more the amount you get being cut down. So you could still use that food stamp money to get that extra bit of produce if need be. If we want to be generous on what they're being used for, of course.

I could see this working on a mass scale if the poor are basically warehoused and slumlords are put out of business by the government. It's hard to cook pasta if you have no running water or a working stove and the jew who rents to you is too cheap to get it fixed. I don't think it's a bad idea overall in that it could cut EBT abuse and at least could be explored in a pilot program, but there are certain realities that weren't considered.

I feel like a lot of these people throwing bitch-fits over this have never been to canneries or storage centers for their food. If they did, it was only the one time because they had to work for like an hour to either fill up their own cans, or fill up those that'll be shipped out and they hated it because "working is haaaaard". (Though they've stopped having patrons can their own foods in many places a few years ago.)

people throwing bitch-fits
Got you covered brah.

You fucking jobless assclowns can't have it both ways.

Either you want Communism/Socialism or you don't.

The government handing you free food in boxes is the closest we've come yet. And you want to REEE about it?

It seems impractical to me. EBT is an easier and more cost-effective solution. Adding this government-run “blue apron” bullshit is just unnecessarily complicated and prone towards favoritism of providers.

WalMart is tooooootally going to put up with losing all that money, presumably to Sysco, without a peep, right?

Right?

Well sure. But it's also abused, exploited and doesn't motivate anyone to try and better themselves.

If you had to just subsist off of powdered milk, shelf stable foods, breads and cheeses... you'd probably figure some shit out OR not be so ready to put yourself into a position to have to rely on it.

Case in point, there's a social circle a younger relative of mine is in, a bunch of early 20's girls. They talk all the time on Social media that I see where they all want babies and have every loophole worked out on how to live off the government for free. All they need is a penis to shoot a baby inside them.

Thankfully my relative is on a different path than these girls.

The idea of wholesale rates and preventing diversion is a good, but there's a lot of problems with centralizing stuff like this. They didn't even centralize food to this degree during UK WW2 rationing. Fortunately it's not a complete replacement, so you still get options.

I haven't been able to find any media that puts this is a positive light besides the Eater, which is... weird considering I can't find anything wrong with it. Am I missing something?

And I mean, if obesity is really an epidemic, and the only reason why the poor are so prone to being obese is because they can't afford produce, wouldn't having the government send you canned fruits and vegetables be preferable?

Now that I think about more, this could be a lot more efficient cost wise since the food gets bought wholesale and you don't have to deal with the mark ups that the Supermarkets slap on them. It would just come down to which is cheaper: the combined mark ups or the the added shipping costs. And since everyone and they're mother started their own subscription delivery company of random shit in a box, the costs of shipping per person might not be as bad I suspected and the government could put a half decent one together.

They’re never going to better themselves. EBT (and welfare in general) is just a bribe to keep them from rioting 24/7.
