  • 3 Stars — Average. Solid entertainment in spots, some good chaos and crashouts, but nothing special

    Votos: 212 23.8%

Burt really is the best contestant, what a good cast, wasn't he one of the last min casts for s3, twins where also a good last min cast also.

I think this is why Sam seemed disconnected in Season 4 because he knew Season 3 was the absolute peak. He realized they were never going to top it.
I would think it's more that s4 was a shit idea and would never work out. Idk Sam's opinion but I bet he hates the idea of re doing s1, remakes will never top the original.

Sam was also big on how important setting is, and while the s3 house was shit for ft, it was a good iconic location with a unique layout.

Then they had all the issues with the zoning and what not.
I think Sam wants to be an artist and make art, not remake a season only for money knowing it is going to flop, so that was the effort we got from him.

S3 proved Fishtank works best when there's a theme or gimmick to it, that's why S4 fell flat, why S2 was such a disappointment (Weird 70s cult vibe was immaculate), and why S5 would have been a turd if it wasn't for a literal S tier cast. What I'm saying is we NEED PirateTank.

Fishtank is inherently an avant-garde experimental reality showstream despite the retardation around it. Trying to force "hellhouse" for coming up on 4 years is what will ACTUALLY kill the show.

So all LARP, all the time. Sure, the s3 cast didn't know it was LARP at first, but it worked best when jet and Sam were larping.

I liked the forced scenes in s3, I think it kind of implicitly implied the be interesting and make content, without the whole production told me.

When they are just sitting round doing nothing, have someone give them some direction and shove a camera in their face. It screams make content you looser, without saying it.

It was also really funny to make them do the same scene 10 times.

Ben could do great things but he chains himself to Jet so if something fails people just expect it because Jet was involved. If Ben struck out on his own he could do better than what Jet has done.
Hard disagree. Jet's really funny too but he cucks himself by trying to be "on-screen personality trolling people" Jet and "Super serious show runner" Jet at the same time. He did better in S5 with that by admitting not of it was professional and they more or less did whatever they wanted.
Season 5 being less ambitious makes sense because it makes it harder to totally fuck up which would have been catastrophic after season 4. They really need to go harder in season 6 though.
Season 5 had to be less ambitious because it was a make or break. They'd lost 9-10 months and a lot of money moving to Georgia. It had to be a by the numbers "safe" season.

it may not have been that ambitious, but it was still the second best after S3 to me, if they can keep doing them like S5 it will be alright, in a sense it was probally the most "balanced" season of them all, it never really lost steam even near the end

Yeah, I remember pretty early into the season he said his goal was just to hand someone that 50k check. I know they lost a shit ton of money with all the s4 legal stuff, he said like $80,000 worth of bloodgames 2 props were taken away. In terms of profit this season was a success, probably just proving to Sam that he could actually finish a season without supervision.

I think some of the S5 basement streams made me understand Jet's thought process more, while not necessarily coming away liking him more.

He's very good at picking up on what the vibe of contestants are and when he sorts through the audition videos he knows who sucks and who could be entertaining.

He is bad at understanding the show aspect and what makes it entertaining, and will try to manufacture things that aren't funny at all. He is bad at creating organic content.

He is right that it starts getting boring when people are just throwing water at each other.

I think Ben is at his best when he has someone to bounce off of.
2.5: Sheriff Ben was elevated by Deputy Brian
3: Gay Ben, and the Ball Bros
4: ...solo underwear show-off was funny, but not my vibe
5: Jet and Ben doing weird shit together ruled. The Dragon Wish was hilarious, and Lil Maejok, chasing around Alex B was pure gold.

6. The entire mogfest with landon, including the beatdown

Edit: im sad nobody else saw the berserk / golden age arc parallels and I wish I had a laptop so I could at least edit those panels (italics are grayed out?) with drake, Twins, bashir

That as well as the castle in the sky stuff with prod as godhead and the behelit moment with drake holding the check
