A KF-led Fishtank is the epitome of "You think you want it, but you dont". It would be the worst elements of the things this thread complains about turned up to 100. Fishtank only works because of Jet, not in spite of him, because he understands first and foremost the show is about people being entertaining. Does it help when they are weird autists that we are laughing at, not with? Yes, but any other type of show would focus on laughing AT them, not selecting for entertaining. This is why nobody can replicate it, because they don't understand the simple fact that these characters are memorable because we inherently like them (or love to hate them). I think you're projecting a lot of the stuff that made Sam-era fishtank good onto Jet. Jet was good at making bloodgames. He's good when there's a script and he can follow it. He's decent at casting on his own, but Sam was better by a mile.

He falls apart when he needs to think on his feet, which Sam also struggled with - it's hard. Where he really falls apart is that he's not an imposing presence and can't command the vibes like Sam could, which you absolutely need to capture what made s1-3 so good. Where he really, really falls apart is that he has some fucked kinda actual straight up darkness inside him that he sucks at suppressing. Mr. Naked is a great example of this, dude was an obvious freak and a liability and Jet just let him on the show because "haha discord naked pervert funny" - his spergout at Beth for not being a good cumbunny was also a good demonstration of this. Same with his spergouts at Jin and Dan in s4.

Ellie and all the sex-pest stuff just comes with the territory of him being a generally grimdark person

Yes, because to my original point, Jet understands what makes people interesting. Are they only there because of Sam/MDE, indirectly maybe, but the "vibe" point is out the window because despite the circumstances, they created something wholly separate from "Sam Era" Fishtank. This is the same argument people used to use against Trump about his "small loan of a million dollars". S5 was good in-spite of everything that went wrong because they had a great pool of MDE Fans to draw from. If the chill guys who think they're gonna meet Sam stop applying, Jet will be stuck with a horde of Mr. Naked's.

El Estanque is also an earnest attempt and is funny and successful in its own way. ADL and Sardine Tin are low-key just faggots trying to epically own the wiggers by having Alex B or some other retard show up to act like a retard for a few hours. The biggest issue is recreating it properly is a massive money-sink and it won't be profitable until you create something good and attract a fanbase, which is why Ice succeeded in mimicking it well on the technical level - he had a huge budget from Kick. He also hugely cut costs by doing director cam only.

Most of Fishtanks appeal comes from the community. Nobody would care about any of these people, besides maybe Burt and Alex, if there wasn't a parasocial, internet-dwelling community with established "mythos" and humor from MDE.

I don't think there are many other places on the internet here something like this could start and anything that tried to build itself from MDE would basically just end up like Sardine Tin. Only really IP2 (which already happened) and Kino Casino.
