Brutal mogging. I knew it would be bad but I didn't think it would be THIS bad.

SS's character writing is, imo, leagues above Blazing Blade's.Innes rocks. IS executed the “guy who acts like a prick but really does care about others” trope splendidly well with him. I replayed FE8 recently and modern IntSys would’ve had Vanessa basically turn into Bernadetta during her supports with him. Moulder, too, is great. I’m a sucker for the token old guy who has it figured out archetype. Guys like him, Haar, Seteth.
That shit made me drop the game entirely. I know it was a FFX Tidus situation but they really should have stuck with Alear for a name instead of that cockgobbling bullshit.I wish the characters had unique dialogues expressing their views of what just happened instead of sucking off the DIVINE DRAGON SENPIE NOTICE ME PLEASE
Ephraim and Eirika are interesting because they really are two halves of a whole, and the game does manage to make both routes good. Though I do prefer Eirika route because it makes more sense how Lyon tricks her lategame. It didn’t get as much direct story exposure because you’re following Eirika for the first half of the game either way but Ephraim trying to reconcile enjoying war and battle with needing to be the king is a well executed plot line. Forde basically says that he earns peoples’ loyalty easily because he’s brave and strong, but he’s kind of an adrenaline junkie.
Innes is such a good character in that game that I'm legitimately mad that they made him the worst class in the game.SS has a lot that I love, like Innes being both incredibly determined, kind to those serving him, and a complete dickhead. Like when you first meet him in Erika's route, he's surrounded, and quite possibly about to die, and he fires Gerik and Tethys so they won't stay and die with him, only for them to stay anyway, pointing out that he can no longer order them to leave, or just how unwilling he is to give up, even when shit is completely fucked.
You know what’s fucked up? They got it right in Three HousesThat shit made me drop the game entirely. I know it was a FFX Tidus situation but they really should have stuck with Alear for a name instead of that cockgobbling bullshit.
I played the Reforged ROM hack and he’s an absolute monster in it. It adds character and class skills like a lot of other GBA FE hacks do, and iirc Neimi gets +1 range while Innes is remade into a crit monster. It’s also got infinite use weapons Fates style, with the caveat of money being extremely tight, so giving him e.g. the Silver Bow he starts with and a Killer Bow to make him into a player phase delete button is both feasible and a great strategy on Eirika’s path. Gilliam is actually good this time and a Provoke staff is added, which opens up a lot of strategic possibilities, in general not just for doing funny moves with your snipers and magicians. And there’s a Lunatic mode so these things aren’t entirely number go up brrInnes is such a good character in that game that I'm legitimately mad that they made him the worst class in the game.
To be fair, it's kind of implied that Ash is mildly retarded. Or just optimistic about nearly everything. That little shit who guilt tripped me with “if you came to Remier village sooner”
Yeah, the post-combat exploration is where the characters talk about real shit. The sky palace is just an anachronistic resort that just exists to appease the retarded portion of the fanbaseWorse yet, the characters there are just there enjoying themselves as if they’re on vacation and absolutely have nothing of substance to say.
Despite the deluge of turd worldness, it doesn't look remotely unique or interesting aesthetically, just looks like every anime game out there. The new Xenoblade is the same way, they look completely interchangeable with any other modern animu fantasy slop. Bland environments, a dull often overly digital-looking U/I that doesn't jive with the old setting, and plastic looking character models that seemingly haven't improved since Awakening's cutscenes 13+ years ago. It's kindov funny how I'm nostalgic for the 3DS look now... They really had their own nice little style, with the 3D environments and effects paired with the eternally charming 2D sprites and character portraits. It's laughable that no matter how many people praised Valentia's aesthetics back in 2017, I.S. just can't take the hint that that's what they should be rolling with for FE.Bar fight outside of the colosseum.

This video was supposed to be explaining the slight changes with the UI
Yeah ,a city with a million shitskins in it just magically stays spotless. Sure, it's not like London was the bastion of cleanliness during it's heyday. Between this and the lack of depth in most of the maps is something that's been plaguing 3H. Engage kind of got things right with their environments, but even that was too clean.Bland environments,
Wasn’t Awakening also a case of “if this underperforms the IP is likely going on the Forever Shelf”? I don’t think anyone involved in Awakenings development had any expectations of it performing anywhere near as well as it did, so they decided to make it their Last Hurrah.Awakening oozed passion. Even the chibi battle models with their stub feet had style. For as much as IS has kept trying and failing to recreate the lightning in a bottle that was Awakening's success, they don't seem to understand what actually made it successful.
Getting IS to recognize the best (and more popular) version is like pulling teeth - but it also means she isn't tainted by Shadows. But they've added Tiki to the Game, it's not my 3000+ years old waifu from Awakening though, it's the 1000+ year old classic version of her.
Corrin and Robin (who is dragon adjacent) are also robots in shadow, probably to differentiate them from the OC dragons and from the naga of this world who are flesh dragons. Not sure if anybody cares about FE Shadows since it's barely a FE spinoff with completely different gameplay. But they've added Tiki to the Game, it's not my 3000+ years old waifu from Awakening though, it's the 1000+ year old classic version of her. Although that's to be expected as she's one of the mascots for the series.
Bizarrely she seems to be a Robot for some reason? I didn't notice it at first until I took a closer look when I saw her joints looked weird. I'm not sure why since none of the other guest characters are Robots, and I can't find any information about it online. I bought the season pass this one time so I could get her since she's my favorite character in the series, hopefully her in-game profile "Rapport Rewards" thing will explain it.

Ahhh okay, I hadn't noticed for them, but I also don't think I've ever run into anyone actually using Robin or Corrin in Shadows. I only noticed something was off with Tiki after getting her because I saw some weird lines on her joints. Their Dragon forms are also very obviously robots (or mechanical looking), but I doubt I would think they are robots just from having weird Dragon forms since the in-game Dragons are like Skeletons.Corrin and Robin (who is dragon adjacent) are also robots in shadow, probably to differentiate them from the OC dragons and from the naga of this world who are flesh dragons.
