The amount of time you have to invest in WoW nowadays is parceled out in weird ways. Back in the day it was similar, but you could no-life a lot of the progression when you had days off or your adderall prescription got refilled or whatever. The biggest problem now is that WoW requires consistent weekly time investment to stay relevant. Taking a week off is going to fuck up your progression and then it's just going to get monkey-patched with some lame catch-up mechanic anyway so there's almost no reason to do it once you fall off the wagon during a patch.Not a WoW refugee either. Never played it. I've played now and then other MMOs like ESO, SWTOR, and Guild Wars, but none of them demands as much time investment as warcraft.
I like a lot of the stuff in WoW's endgame, especially M+ (god I wish we had some high-end 4-man content in XIV). But the weekly gating is massively annoying.
