I haven't played the market board like I used to do for years now, so I'm currently down to roughly 6 million according to one of my most recent screenshots. Maybe a little under that, since the screenshots would be about four months old by this point and I haven't been playing in that whole entire time.

As a new player, I learned today that since there's no penalties for dying, Blue Mage Self-Destruct is the most fun alternative to using Return.
That seems a tad excessive, Ishgardian Restoration got me 1-80 in all 8 crafters at a price point of near nothing (maybe like 100k in leathers?). Blowing wads of gil on crafting seems like it'd be better spent on buying materials for HQ Aesthete gear and materia for Pentamelding it.

It depends on your server's economy and whether someone thinks they're Rockafeller and keeps fucking with it. That and some people don't have the time to farm the mats from Diadem for 2+ hours.

Pretty much this. One or a group of a few dedicated Jews can absolutely fuck the economy on a given server.
I was acquainted with people who used to crash the Market Board on a regular basis on a whim. Not even so much for fun or laughs, but just because they got assblasted about the price of certain things and they were petty enough to make everyone suffer for it.
