I went and did the new Castrum a third time and didn’t die once. With my dumb lizard brain that’s a fairly big accomplishment

For Tanks, it's basically Ivalician (meaning from Ivalice, not the set) Judge armor, isn't it? After seeing it, I want it purely for the glamour's sake, but there's no way in hell I'm getting it with those requirements.
Ivalice gear isn't a bad description, it's more inline with Final Fantasy XII Judge gear. I wouldn't mind having myself some of that ffxii style glamor law armor. I hadn't checked the currency for it until not too long ago. Goes by gold pieces. You need 3 gold to get chest/legs and 2 for the others. You don't get gold from the new Castrum, just around 17-20 silver roughly. 1 gold costs 100 fucking silver.

The only upside to this shit is a weekly quest that nets you 3 gold for running the new castrum. There's no way in hell I'm farming this shit, I'm probably just going to do it here and there, and for now focus on a relic weapon. I don't particularly dislike the fight but 24 mans can be hit and miss depending on how many retards are in the same queue and that fucking dungeon is way longer than it needs to be.

I did 5 runs tonight after work and it wasn't so bad. I even MT'd throughout one of them. It was fun.

Funny thing is I think I was one of only 2 tanks in that entire raid.

Anyway I already made enough silver to get a gold. It's coming along. I've done it enough times where I could watch youtube while doing it or just listen to music. Time flies pretty fast.

Hah. Denebrum and chill.

It's all good and everything till you are locked with a bunch of fags who die on the first boss because they have the attention span of a sponge and get killed by the first 2 Mercy slashes.

Luckily I haven't had that happen...yet?
I mean I've seen a shit ton of poeple die but we were able to recover fairly quickly. I think the only thing that irks me is the wide variance of how long the actual raid can take. When I MT'd it, we blew past everything super fast, even though in my entire party, only me and one other person had done it before.
When I did another run as red mage right after, it took twice as long to finish. There's a lot of rng and randomness to it which in a way kind of makes it fun, not knowing if it'll go really well or really bad. You could get like a whole alliance with no tanks or no healers or only tanks and healers lol. You could get all people who know what they are doing or all people who are new and never did it before. It's a huge game of chance.

So far I got the music roll.

I like every single one of these to varying extents except for maybe MCH, MNK, and SMN.
MCH's is amazing
It just makes me think of this:

I just thought I'd specify it to avoid confusion since there's already "Ivalician" sets in the game from Orbonne Monastery.

Plus, you know, XII does take place in Ivalice.
My bad. I'm still salty that the Ivalice raids during Stormblood didn't give us this bitchin Judge armor to begin with. I thought the majority of it looked like ass save for a few pieces.

Watching this video I don't know what to think about it. I strongly disagree with his analysis on covenants and class diversity in WoW because one of the things that killed that game for me in the latter end of Legion was the fact that class builds were solely based on how good THEIR gear set bonuses were or how THEIR legion artifacts behaved and how they behaved was solely based on if Blizzard was in the correct state of mind when they designed the sockets. This meant certain talent specs and in some extreme cases classes were completely useless in higher tier content and it made lower geared characters unable to approach it because this meant there was no point in bringing them because they'd just fall behind in numbers and hamstring the group.

Another reason I strongly dislike 'path' systems in WoW and why it would fall flat on its face in FFXIV is because one of the key things Squeenix wants to avoid is making certain classes un-viable and giving people choices about which covenant or group to roll unless its purely cosmetic base would mean that higher tier content would be predicated on just one sole path depending on job and all other paths would be useless. Say someone really likes Maldraxxus, but icyveins and damage meters told them that Revendreth performed better, he's at a crossroad where he's serving a covenant he doesn't want to serve and in order to be viable he's forced to, meanwhile if he chose Maldraxxus, he'd be at a severe disadvantage. And no Desperius, it doesn't work in PvP either because it means now players can't plan or strategically take down players because their ability kits now give them unpredictable abilities that can either one shot or stop the game entirely and snap fights in half. A resto druid could be at a strategic disadvantage against a rogue, but the moment the druid casts the night fae ability in catform, the fight can easily go in her favor and the rogue, who probably wasted his kick in preparation to perform his burst, would suddenly be one shot because he didn't know, and had no way of knowing, that the druid had that ability.

This is why Blue Mage is a limited job right now, it's not because the class itself would be un-viable in a raid environment (it probably would be), but because the moment you start adding flexible builds to a boss designed around rotation memory and movement is the moment where a flexible class could either completely break the fight or the fight breaks them. It doesn't shock me either that a youtube celebrity has utterly no clue what he's talking about and it really makes me wonder if the reason WoW is so shit these days has less to do so much with Blizzard and more because mouth pieces like this smooth brain think they're the ones who should holding the reins of this game.

So, basically, the whole video is "My problem with XIV is that it's not WoW." wow

faxx.png

Yes, I'm sure that's why and not because the guy demonstrably doesn't know what he's talking about.

Now that I've actually watched the whole video it's about 70% "This game has no variety in its PvP and PvP is the one thing that keeps MMOs alive" and 30%... I don't even know what the fuck he's going on about for the other 30%. Just retarded rambling for the sake of filling up time, I think.

Will likely get the mount when I have to farm the fucking thing 15 times for the relic.

Also expansion announcement is tomorrow. I expect a healer and a caster job.

and PvP in WoW is fucking shit, and it has been going downhill even since Wotlk because blizz going "muh-esports" when designing their games,

"This game has no variety in its PvP and PvP is the one thing that keeps MMOs alive"
No, it absolutely isn't LOL
That's a big yikes.

FFXIV has stayed alive and popular for as long as it has not because of the PvP but because of the story. His mistake is that he puts WoW on top of a massive pedestal and then compares everything to it when he has a clear bias for it. It's not really fair to compare two completely different games with different foundations and it's even more retarded to assume that EVERY MMO ever can only do well if it has PvP in it.

What a fucking parasol of a boy.
