Hildibrand quest related thoughts: Whoo boy, I bet the man in a dress joke pissed off some of the people playing this. Also in regards to the colosseum one it's cool to see Ultros in HD. He looks about as off-putting as you'd expect a perverted monster octopus to look.

On a sidenote, I had been doing some duty roulette quests and just hard versions of other dungeons to get the item level 130 armor you buy with allagan tomestones but at the same time I wonder if I should maybe just go through the main story first before trying to get a full set of it. Right now I basically went from top to bottom so I got the weapon, helmet, chest piece, and belt. Since I'm on the free trial IIRC my level cap is level 60 and I'm already level 54 on the class that I main right now, and if I reach the cap before I'm done with the main story that I can do on the free trial I'd have to go through the whole process again of getting a class to 50 and possibly farming level 50 tomestone gear for that class as well.

Also there's the part where the optimal method seems to be the daily duty roulette for the main story but that sends you to the unskippable cutscene zone.

The level 60 and 50 versions are different. I'd say (particularly if you're currently capped at 60) it's prudent to get a set for 50 to make future classes with the same items easier to level.

I'd argue that depends on whether they want to play a different class once they hit cap.

If not, given that they're already halfway to 60, it kind of sort of doesn't matter as much to get a full set of Augmented Ironworks since you start outgearing it by about the 54-55 mark in Heavensward. Unless they haven't actually started Heavensward story yet, in which case, God, yes, go for your full Augmented Ironworks set. It'll carry you about halfway through the content.

Note that depending exactly where the trial cuts you off, if you can play through all the way to the end of even post-story Heavensward, you'll still want to stock up on Poetics anyway for buying Augmented Shire (I think that was the highest poverty gear in HW? Been a while.) as well at 60.

Important thing though, get your items from the blue loot bag vendors in the Foundation/other main cities. Those are the augmented versions, which are higher ilvl and dyeable.

I dunno at what point Heavensward technically starts but after I finished Praetorium I did the crystal tower questline and finished the main plotline where Minfilia reunites with her adopted mother and the scion headquarters moves to mor dhona.

Though, I'm gonna guess that's not Heavensward yet since I haven't gone to Ishgard proper yet.

you’re still in ARR. when they introduce a new character(s) you’re getting pretty close

Cure 2 if you need quick healing back up (for a tankbuster or something)
Cure 1 and freecure procs if you're only healing autoattack damage (unless the tank is geared like garbage)
Either one is fine in normal content, though
As a mediocre healer, I'm getting mixed signals here. Are we suppose to do Cure -> Cure 2 because I've seen people say Cure does too little damage later to be practical.
Wait, you guys actually use Cure and basic heals?
Am I a shit healer? Have I been playing this game wrong all this time? I usually go by:
If WHM
throw a Medica 2 + Regen + Asylum and OGCDs as needed

If SCH
Recitation + Crit Ad + Sacred Ground + Excog and OGCD as needed

If AST
Diurnal + Aspect Benefic/Helios + Star + Opposition and OGCD as needed
I dont remember the last time I've had to cast a single target GCD.

Miqo’te roleplayers are by far the fucking worst when it comes to designing a character. Granted Auri can sometimes look like a mess of colors after getting blasted with a make up gun and Vieras can look uncanny and way too civilized to the point where they look like generic humans with playboy bunny ears, but for some fucked up reason a lot of miqo’tes make their characters look like ogres:

That's because Miqo'tes are naturally ugly, special the sun cat variant.
Au Ra supremacy all the way.

If you can DPS and solely keep a Tank up during a big pull with regens, threshold-proccing heals, and CDs, then, no, you're actually a competent and (daresay) good healer.

If you bitch about Tanks being bad and you're literally only throwing one regen out and nothing else, or you're like most mouthbreathing Scholars and you rely solely on your fairy to autoheal with nothing else applied, or you just stand back, maintaining a full mana bar, almost never casting anything unless someone absolutely NEEDS a heal, then, yes, you're a shit healer.

No, I do those too. I tend to use Cure while the regens are in effect.

I don't know Au Ra's have been pretty annoying to me especially the ones who have "that" voice (teehee--NAAAA!) The only based races this game seems to have is Elezen. I've never had a problem with anyone who plays Elezen and they always seem to be pretty mature. Same with people who play as roegadyns (if you can get past the fact that a lot of them are probably gay) and maybe I'm just lucky, but Lalafells never have been a problem for me and the majority I've met are pretty friendly.
Most of the time, they are ugly male deathfats obsessed with wanting to rp as a female in a game so of course they wouldn't have any concept as to what is attractive.

Either that or they mold their character into their DnD one.
Really? Many I've met are women IRL and you can almost hear their fupa flapping through the microphone. The one that plays that grey Fiona wearing a bandana is a girl IRL. Meanwhile the men are bafflingly colorblind and make their characters a mess of colors without any concise theme behind them, but they can still at least make a face that doesn't look like complete shit.

My usual whm rotation is regen, medica 2, asylum, assize, presence of mind, thin air, holyholyholyholyholyholyholy, For large pulls. For bosses it's the same except I just use glare.

Ast is practically the same if I'm in diurnal. Just use earthly star after celestial intersection, pop lightspeed and then spam gravity for big mobs, malefic 3 for bosses.

Addendum: If it gets too spicy I also pop the celestial opposition.

The 130 tome shit isn't too bad of an idea considering it holds up until around 54-56. I haven't done the main story in forever, last I checked it's only going to give you i90 stuff which isn't terrible but it's meh. But you can easily get shit running HW leveling dungeons that's perfectly fine. Main story roulette is cancerous and I refuse to do it anymore, but that's most likely my own bias because I've been playing this shit since 2.0 launch and I still remember having to farm Praetorium and Castrum for tomes. The last few times I tried to do it for big exp when leveling a job, I had the frustration of dealing with either a tank or healer partner who couldn't differentiate their ass from a hole in the ground. Compound that with sleep inducing cutscenes, shit gets old fast.

What job are you leveling? If anything I'd just worry about a tome weapon and just get what you can. Market Board has ilvl 120 shit at 50 that's hq. I don't know what server you're on, on mine they seem to range from dirt cheap to somewhat pricy. You can follow the same routine at 60 and 70.

Shame he isn't on the same DC as me.

I could've just crafted him some bitchin' gear.

Another addendum: Fem Roe is my new religion.

How do you have any mana leftover for DPS?
