As a fan of G'raha Tia, can't agree, since for those who really like this character, this is like a dream come true. I've seen people in game going nuts and hugging and caressing him in between cutscenes, so his increased presence is satisfying for at least a small portion of players.
Considering Alisae also pines for WoL, or at least some of her behavior can be interpreted as such, it isn't even the first time in FFXIV. And also explains their rivalry.
Agree, I enjoyed this patch but damn I felt like telling G'raha to get the fuck off my dick, holy shit. Watch him die tragically as the WoL's lost love #2.

Since I've seen Father of Light posted here, this happened.
The creator of the original blog series died this week due to cancer. As always, cancer sucks dick. What makes this more tragic is his dad was a survivor and now he outlived his own son.
I went and paid my respects to some of the people in Giovinezza. My own shenanigans made me run into them a handful of times, I'm not some well known friend or anything of the sort, but I still felt it was appropriate.

What really surprised everyone is how quickly Maidy went. Everyone was under the impression that despite his poor prognosis, he still had half a year to go. Then he just bit the dust within a month. It floored everybody, especially right before the holidays. Yoshida is right on the money when he talks about Maidy, he was a really gentle guy who cared a lot about other people.

In other news, my static is still progging E9S, I really hate this fight. The square phase drives me nuts, and I have no idea how NA PF will do it, especially with how selfish players are in regards to their DPS. Even with our strat, there's no way to make both melee players have positionals, it just doesn't solve itself nicely.

I got a venture coffer from my retainer and now I will open it.

...

There was 2 pots of jet black dye in it.

I got phase 2 down incredibly quickly and my static managed to get through it quick too. It looks intimidating, but once you think it through, it's not that hard. There's about 3 patterns, and when Emerald does Split, either his top or bottom body remains.

If it's the bottom, you need to dodge out, then the move for swords will always be middle (The last set that comes down) -> one corner (The first set that comes down, second is a tight dodge).

If it's the top, he'll raze half the arena, then it's a corner (3rd set again) -> center move (First set). Make sure to pop knockback immunity after the swords come down.

When he doesn't do split (when phase 2 begins), it's going to be either of those patterns, or it's going to be two big X sword patterns and one cross pattern. In the case of the latter, you want to stand on one of the horizontal lines on the edges that doesn't intersect the Xs and then move in. Here is a paint picture I made:

Just make sure to pay attention to where the 3rd and 2nd swords come down. The sword groups are always left side, right side, and middle.

That part isn't too bad. You have to move left or right twice, then dodge the cannons on the side. Just look at the Gaiuses, line up with the first empty spot, then line up with a cannon that is #4 or #5. #4 you have to dodge out of the explosions earlier, but if you can be in front, you don't need to memorize the empty Gaius spots since you see him easily.

I would help, but I ain't on Crystal :)
Honestly yeah I watched some guy's vid on it to explain it and the moment you realize there's just a basic pattern for handling them all it flows much better. The swords is honestly the worst part but using graphics like this and Joonbob's vid it saved me a ton of time.

I managed to get 12 clears, drops for my paladin and gnb but no mount. :(

Honestly I find the hatedom for him far more obnoxious than the fandom.
There were a lot of lines in the MSQ that def made me feel Ishikawa was leaning hard into a BL scenario with Graha. That one line where you joke with him that the journey isn't very exciting and get this "I'm just happy to be with you on this wonderful journey" is written in a way that is totally baiting. My apologies for not remembering the line proper but it's straight up like a visual novel conversation you'd have in a dating sim.

I'm personally apathetic to the character, but there are some moment where I think he's nice. People just hate him because he's showboated everywhere, and has that big appeal of looks and personality that assure you you're getting a figure of him down the road. People flipping their lids wanting him to just die is really funny to me since it's just a virtual character in a sea of others you can happily focus into.

I'm a Zenos/Fandaniel Fan and this entire patch was me smiling ear to ear so I got my fill.

I had to buy my weapon with totems. I usually don't care for the mount. They look like babies for lalafell this expansion.

Of course the overcooked raccoon is a Zenos fan!

I was eyeing Twitter and this showed up in the feed:

Why are XIV raiders a bunch of tools? The amount of chatter in raid is now scientific.

I saw the savage mount for the last tier. Basically, you ride the spaceship with boobs and you can make it to a mini light show.

Last time you got an old centuar man, now you get a boob ship.

I should so emerald, but both the mount and weapons aren't really my thing and I've been crafting up a storm to gear up my jobs.

Also I'm a lazy cunt.

Because they're fucking autistic, which makes them laser focused on a single goal: Getting that fucking clear. The goalpost might move from there to "get my loot", to "be top percentile DPS", to "be fastest kill so I have to run less each week", but the autism remains.

Look at how that tweet reads. It's not even the fact that they're expending so much effort for a virtual reward with no lasting value in a video game which makes them so autistic, albeit it is an incredibly autistic mentality to have. It's the fact that they're narrowing even the human communication aspect down to a quantifiable measurement, almost like it's an added layer of mechanics necessary for "progression" with its own set of optimal conditions to fulfill for success – specifically in this case, success towards "being a better prog player". Seemingly no consideration whatsoever is given to the human, interpersonal aspect of it, no questioning of "Am I being the asshole here?", it's just straight input/output. Just an optimization necessary to attain a result.

The Eden Savage mount is rad and I look forward to not having it until 10.0 when I can undersize the fight because I'm a casual

I haven't been able to play much of 5.4 for outside reasons but I'm looking forward to the shitshow that is NA PF for Eden's Promise Savage. This will be my first time going through Savage content other than like E5S which basically died because I hopped on that late and I hope it isn't as bad as I hear in this thread. Is the BLU content update out yet?

Always was a Zenos fan the moment everyone started hating on him for being one dimensional. Let me appreciate the absolute ham he is, and how he just won't shut up. Now with Fandaniel making them like a comedic duo I love them both even more. Zenos just wants to hate fuck the WoL and Fan is just wanting his apocalypse. Two peas in a pod

I think he more so is talking about pointless chatter not relating to the fight. Like people talking about something that is happening irl when it should be on the fight. I've had that in groups where they talk about stuff for a third mech , but can barely get past the second without a death.

There's absolutely a ground for people talking about it and it's encouraged for knowing rotation timing and buffs, but if you spend too long, people start losing their thoughts and it just leads to the same stuff again if some people aren't thinking straight.

@That Stupid Fucking Tree I think that's coming out in 5.41 with Ishgard. So in a couple of weeks from now.

Because they're "important" people in an MMORPG. They're losers who think their word in a video game somehow translates to real life advice when it doesn't. Bokchoy and all them act like "I'm a nice guy" that you see when a guy complains about how he can't get a girl but in reality they're all a bunch of speds who flip their shit on anything. My favorite is all the ones that I know who say shit about women all the time in private but then go "respect all women" on social media or some dumb shit.

No offense to you guys who really like savage raiding and all that hardcore stuff, but I really can't stand it. It's full of elitist pricks who put way too much stock into a fucking game and they've convinced themselves that the only way to have fun and enjoy themselves is to skip around with their holier than thou attitudes and do only the most hardcore of hardcore content. Like, no thanks, I have more important things to worry about and take care of than cut out a slice of my life, time, and schedule to play a game with autism so fucking focused on completing harder than normal content that I will get bored of later and will quickly become obsolete down the road anyway. Woo, I gave up a chunk of my life to get a shiny weapon that'll get replaced soon anyway. Go me, I'm so fucking hardcore.

And if you're so fucking sad and numbed out that only savage and ultimate content can possibly make you feel any type of way about playing a game, than you need to reevaluate yourself and your life. God, it's so fucking bad, everyone can't wait to get their clears so they can get their loot and not talk to each other in a week. It's just as bad as the retards that play WoW and their dumb bullshit. It's all fucking bullshit.

Sorry for my rant, but autistic fags and their autistic obsession with savage raiding grates on my nerves over time. I realize I can't tell peope how to enjoy the game they pay money for, but I just wish they would chill the fuck out and stop acting like a bunch of obnoxious cumstains.

I'd like to think that's what he's talking about, but looking at the guy's timeline, it seems he really enjoys doublespeak. On one hand, he'll tell people that you're only beholden to your static, but he won't stfu about "improving as a prog player" as if it were an infinite scale. It's an offputting brand of humble bragging that I am not fond of. FF14 is a video game that you're supposed to play for fun.

There was a Twitter "meme" a some time ago where a bunch of raiders like Stal were comparing their old parses to their newest parses as a testament to how much they "improved" at playing Final Fantasy. It's a constant obsession to these circles to ensure that they're "better" than last tier.

Can I have more people like you in my static/friend groups? Though almost every person I know from Crystal is crazy in some way, and almost every friend group I see is just a giant clique.

It's been really difficult to recruit people this tier because you run into so many people that I think care way too hard, or they're looking to use your static as a stepping stone to network their way into HC free companies/statics.

I like my static right now though, they're chill. Lots of good fun. I'm actually excited to raid unlike last tier just to spend time with them.

Here's something that actually makes me upset today: event items. Square Enix added a new loft and a new partition, but they're exclusive for the event. This means that you either need to hoard them in case you might fancy using them eventually. Otherwise you'll have to pay 5 dollars a pop on mog station next year. I'm already paying a sub for my house, why can't I just craft the stupid items?

I, for one, always enjoyed it when I could freely clown around with my old group of friends in all the hardcore raid content and still clear it while having fun. We suffered some very dumb wipes and deaths on each of our parts, had a good laugh about it, and made those elitist raiders super pissed at us because we never took playing the game as seriously as they did and they absolutely hated that a group of fucking shitters like us could hang with the big boys comfortably all while shitting on their autism at our own pace.

Then my old group of friends ended up drinking the hardcore raider Kool-Aid and turned into a bunch of elitists themselves when it comes to raid progression and made everything unfun. So while the raider mentality aggravates me as well, it also makes me sad when I think back on how it WAS possible to have fun doing that kind of content, not only for the thrill and the difficulty, but from the social aspect, at least until everyone decided they needed to emulate the mindset of the very people we'd been pissing off for years.

XIV has this very funny way of dragging down anyone who plays it long enough. It's just a question of which aspect of the beast will sink its teeth into you first: The raiding, the ERP, or the social politics.

You can easily avoid the loons of this game. Just follow this autistic checklist:
-Anime avatar that can only talk through memes or "so funny blobs" on discord
-Gets commisions of their FFXIV character and bases their entire Twitter off their 14 character
-Assoicates/friends with certain people like reddits "fashion report model" who's a literal diaper shitter
-Dark skinned female Au'ra are always troons, don't ask me why but it always is.

Anyway back to what you were saying, I enjoy clear the new raids fast and optimizing is fun but I don't make it into an obsession. Glad the people I play with are all sane and fun. My FC I've been with since 3.0, we've all met multiple times at cons and fanfest as mentioned earlier in the thread. We only stick around fanfest for certain events and the challenges. Majority of our time is spent actually checking out other stuff such as going to the grand canyon or walking the strip getting our drink on.

As for playing with people from this site, I'd prefer to play on alt incase someone goes gay ops but I'd be down.
