I can understand that, but I figured that the community a long time ago collectively realized that frontline is just RNG. The teams are random, the point spawns are random, and the vindictiveness of third place is random.
It didn't use to be, but it was also worse.

There was a time in the before days where frontlines was not all freelancers all the time, and you actually got sorted according to which GC you belonged to.

For several years running (at least on Primal) the result was that Maelstrom absolutely dominated FL queues to absolutely comical degrees, and Adders/Flames were basically just there to fight for second place. I gather Flames dominated on Aether for a long time in the same way.
It got so bad that in 5.1 they made freelancer mode mandatory so teams would be random, explicitly because of the imbalance in performance between different Grand Companies.

A happy medium would be to have an option to mix both modes, modify which inputs to simplify and such, i think that would be awesome. You would still have a mode to pick but having a 3rd option thats a mix would be greatly welcome.
It's extremely optimistic, since the balance is different between them. If you could mix, it'd just result in people complaining they have to mix and match because muh deeps.
This game's been consoleified from the beginning. Something like 30-40% of the total playerbase is on console and in Japan that's like 60%.

Personally I play on controller and the changes don't really look that significant for controller-friendliness. I already don't have trouble pressing all the buttons I need and the only thing that this really alters is that I don't have to double tap my triggers for long cooldowns as often.
Another controller fag here. The only difficulty on controller as it is, is just having to spot target random dps players in the middle of the party list. Nothing in evolved mode is gonna change that except that Ast will only have to do it for healing probably. I suppose freeing up buttons means you can more easily fit in targeting macros, I guess? Meh.

Maelstrong, Twin Badders, and Immortal Lames. That's how they were known on Primal. There were some Adders players who were really fucking good and when they were online, it was almost always a sweep for them, but the rest of the time, Maelstrom won probably 50~70% of the time.

I've been feeling that same dread. Like yeah we get a better representation of Job identity but will the obvious consolefication of the controls that Evolved Mode is using (which is because of the Switch no matter how much they try to say otherwise) make everything feel more braindead to compensate.
How is switch 2 to blame? It has just as many buttons as a dualshock 4
Speaking of consoles, I find it funny that they are comitting to keep the ps4 version running for as long as they can, the only thing stopping them being sony.

I blame it for the idea of getting the game to look presentable and easier to play in handheld mode with the smaller screen and limited UI real estate. Yeah yeah I can already hear 'muh Steam Deck' for the screen but methinks SE is going to do anything Nintendo wants (I mean look at the subscription price nonsense) so that XIV can be in the Nintendo ecosystem as there's an untapped market of MMO fans on the Switch (not to mention dialogue both irl and online of current players wanting to buy the Switch 2 version for their accounts so they can play portably)

This is random but if we're going to be travelling through the shards I hope they take the opportunity to lean into different tones the way Shadowbringers did. Looking back, I feel like the more surreal/fairy tale parts like Il Mheg and Eulmore are my favourite parts. I wish they could've been more consistently weird, but I guess it would've clashed with the human elements.
It could even be established in the lore that the shards, having less aether, are naturally less 'rigid' and individual people are more susceptible to magic than the people on the Source, making bizarre and powerful magic more commonplace.

Speaking of, if they're smart, they'll come up with some rule that using Azem's crystal to travel to new shards locks our power-level to a maximum for that shard, since it's been established they're all weaker reflections. A narrative level-sync, if you will.

Kinda unrelated but I am so fucking sick of that stupid fucking crystal. It's pulled out for EVERY trial. It was cool when it first was a thing because it was pretty high stakes, but now we pull it out for any tom dick and harry that we could canonically headbutt to death casually.

I just want them to break from the, "six zones, one endgame city, one completely-irrelevant-once-raids-start city" formula.

One thing I really miss from ARR is that you basically had access to every single zone from level 15 or so. I can understand maybe blocking off the final SUPER IMPORTANT STORY SPOILERS OMG zone but otherwise let us fucking explore if we want.

Also I wish we'd get some new zones in Eorzea itself. There's huge swathes of Aldenard that are still not accessible at all.

I just want them to add voice chat so that i can shit on the trannies and hopefully bully them into their nearest bridge
There's a 0% chance that even if they did add voice chat (which not only JP hate, but, also trannies) that "bullying" would be massively enforced. It would be recorded and reviewed like most other voice chat.

Also it would be complete garbage - FFXIV hasn't mastered "upgrade a piece of gear while you're wearing it" so the 'official' voice chat would just be a single 200 slot Ventrilo server from 2002.

They changed the Promathia arena. It's not see through anymore.
People kept bitching about getting motion sickness even though in order to feel that you would have to be looking straight down the entire fucking fight.
This is why we can't ever have nice things. It doesn't look as cool anymore.

Some chad made a Penumbra mod to revert it day one.

People do boss fights with other camera angles?
Beats me.
I get a little motion sickness too and some vertigo when I look down from a really tall place but first off, this is a video game, the height isn't real and two, I'm mostly focusing on the boss and trying not to die to really notice anything else. You could make an argument that the see through floor made some mechs hard to see, but honestly, they are so blatant and it's not as bad as people made it out to be. You'd think seeing a giant, intricately detailed circle clearly indicating where the safe zone is and where it isn't would be enough.

But no, some faggot out there went into this fight, looked straight down the whole time, probably whining about the floor making them feel sick and then went onto the forums to gripe about it like a whiney cunt.

We get a cool looking arena and a small minority of loud brainlets had to ruin it for everyone else.

To be fair the floor made some of the mechanics hard to see and threw me off a bit at times. That said they should have just made a transparency toggle instead of completely changing it.
This also isn’t the first time they’ve changed something due to motion sickness. Mounts tilting during movement got nerfed shortly after being added for the same reason but they nerfed it too much.

Iirc, they also changed the title screen for DT and the whole entire 2nd half of Mt. Gulg because basement goblinos who sit in a room of darkness all day every day complained that it was too bright and hurt their eyes.

Personally I don’t blame the ones who thought the DT title screen was too bright and painful on the eyes. Not to mention the music is way too loud and harsh. Its title screen is both an audio and a visual flashbang even though the room I’m in when I play the game is always very well lit. There are times I forget to lower the volume on my computer and all of a sudden the DT theme blasts in my ears when I log in. I should definitely change the title screen to another expansion’s screen.
