Final Fantasy XIV - Kiwi Free Company

Also meanwhile x2: "Lolorito should be dead, he screwed us over by...uh...keeping this entire scandal under wraps and the only reason it went to absolute shit is because of Raubahn's overreaching judgement. Why can't my WoL just murder literally everyone in Ul'dah?!?! It'll improve everything I swear!"
Had a friend once that genuinely thought this. Thought it was total bullshit that we're not allowed to pull a mass culling of the monetarists, even after I explained to him how that would completely destabilize Ul'dah and basically kill it as an established nation-state.

His 500+ IQ ass response was "No, I'm sure we could work something else out." And then never provided a proposal.

Just become an actual mass murderer of government officials + whatever armed guards exist, after being alleged of murdering the royal line. I'm sure that will go great and not destabilize the entire nation immediately. What a hero. These people actually don't pay attention to this game I swear despite claiming to be in this game for the story and how GREAT the story is.

Regardless of what anyone thinks about this message, FFXIV as a general whole does not encourage using violence beyond self defense when all other non-violent options have been exhausted. That's why we talk people down even if it is a stupid idea on a practical level, pragmatism is bested by idealistc optimism in this story and that's why the Warrior of Light and the scions are the heroes. I just typed a 25 page autismo essay about this using Dark Knight's plot as the primary example of this.

FFXIV is a talk first, pull sword second story. You don't go "The time for talk is over" and be the hero in this game, that's what pretty much every antagonist does, they just throw their hands up and go "Talking is dumb, let's violence the problem away" before we violence their life away because they choose to double down.

How bad are ninja and bard right now? I'm about to hit 90 on my reaper and I've always really liked ninja on a thematic level plus I want the Edge cosplay gear. My plan is to raid gear either summoner or reaper and then catch up my crafters/gatherers while leveling a few other classes later on.

Bard is currently the top ranged phys DPS due to its buffs now applying to itself and not needing DoT ticks to generate procs.

Ninja still has some jank but is otherwise pretty secure in its spot in the meta.

Crafters and gatherers continue to be an enormous time or gil sink depending on what you have more stomach for losing.

Bard is top ranged physical if we're talking just output and you see it all the time in top parses. Ninja I think is too weak for how absolutely janky it is and Reaper/Monk are better in terms of output generally speaking from what I've seen, but Ninja doesn't seem so bad that it can't do good stuff if you are willing to work with the jank. The top speed kill for one of the new EXs has (or had, if updated very recently) a Ninja, but everywhere else you see mostly RPR/MNK.

Still, it doesn't really matter unless you really want to try hard, we're arguing maybe a 300-500 or so dps which is less then a 10% difference from the top melee dps, which is generally fuck all in the grand scheme of things for most people. The bigger issue with Ninja that I've been told is that its Raijus (the Naruto Chidori thing) get lost anytime you try to use any melee gcd except itself, so you can just lose them solely because you don't want to gap close right now which makes Trick Attack burst awkward.

This is a relatively simple fix that I expect to happen within the next few months or even next week if SE's balance team is awake to this issue. Ninja was much worse in 5.0 and it was fixed by 5.1, so I can expect something similar to occur with Ninja this time.

Almost r-ready for 6.05 guys... h-heh...

Is Red Mage really top tier like some community retard said or it's true that they're at the bottom of the Magick DPS pool?

But yeah, on terms of raid DPS it goes Reaper/Monk > Samurai's close behind on the gap > Dragoon > Ninja.

Nah. Red Mage is currently in the upper half of damage output, generally above Summoner. It's got a ton of utility and (personally) is really smooth and fun to play. It helps that its rotation requires just a touch of randomness that makes it not quiiiiite static, but that RNG is consistently rewarding enough that it doesn't feel like you're rolling the dice on whether you're pulling your weight or not.

Also on another note, I think the Paradox meme rotation is funny as hell, never change Squeenix.

I'm pretty sure summoner is generally at the bottom, and black mage might just be in the midst of everyone learning it.

I can't figure out what the point of the second sharpcast charge is (guaranteed thunderhead? I guess that'd be nice QOL), the optimal time to push the free polyglot button, whether ice paradox is something you should use every time it's up or whether it should only be used to extend the ice phase if you want to squeeze in more xenoglossies / need to move a lot. Leyline is also on a 2m cooldown instead of 1.5, and a lot of their potencies have been lowered a decent bit. It could just take a while for people to figure out BLM, but I also wouldn't be surprised if it has landed slightly in the middle and either needs a little tweaking or a bit better itemization values to return to top.

Red Mage is arguably the best mage dps for the general player base and it holds its own even against most BLMs despite having its utility, you can even see them in speed kills too. Red Mage historically is the best progression mage due to Verraise and sometimes Vercure can be sparsely useful if you have the situational awareness for it, but Magick Barrier just makes it even better in that regard. So if prog is your thing and you don't care about speed, RDM might as well be SSS tier to you.

Do note, EX1 and especially EX2 is very paddable due to their add phases (aka you can hit a bunch of enemies for dps gains), so big aoe damage be it intentional or incidental (like Rdm finishers or Drg Nastrond/Gierskogul) can over value how much damage a job is actually doing. This is why Dancer looks better in EX2 then EX1 because their dances can hit every single add in the room, same with White Mage too due to Afflatus and Assize being big aoe damage . The real statistics will come about 1-2 months (to learn uptime strats) into Savage which will be mostly single target fights most likely.

While tiering in this game is ultimately pointless and the general faggotry that follows, if their were a single "S tier" dps, it'd be Red Mage imo due to strong output despite relative ease of use vs its competition and its utility in progression. So yes, Red Mage is very good.

Hit level 50 tonight in MNK, MIN, and BTN. I just finished up the Stone Vigil quest in ARR.

Seems like a lot of the game is opening up (new job quest lines, beast tribe quests, Grand Company stuff, housing, etc.). Is there any point in fucking with any of that right now or should I just be laser focused on the MSQ?

Alisaie, a character that shows up maybe 5 times in ARR's MSQ, while Minfilla's Fillas are right there? Should I be concerned?

Also if you like Alisaie so much you might like to know that she becomes more active in the plot at the last third of Heavensward, oh and the Coils of Bahamut raid story line is part of her character arc (though you'd ideally want to get level 90 vets to just carry you through that by soloing the bosses, as doing them normally is a wipe fiesta).

Truly the only thing Minfilia is good for.
Minfilila does about 4 unquestionably useful things total in this game, and two of them are her breasts that stick out in most of ARR's cutscenes especially in post ARR. So by that math, Minfilla is the most noticeably useful scion in ARR. Checkmate chuds.

Someone tell them to brush up on their knowledge of North Korea and the effect propaganda can have on a culture and nation built entirely around it.

This is why wars are always perpetuated instead of left behind, because you have people like these who are both stupid and think by smashing two wrong things together it makes it right and okay when all it does is make things worse. Break the cycle, don't be a mindless cog that keeps it going forever.

I was annoyed at first by the way we were treated in that zone, but I had to think for a moment to realize that ordinary citizens think they are the good guys because they've been taught to believe and spoon fed that everything else is wrong. They aren't bad people, they are just the product of what excessive propaganda can do and it can take a lot of work to break and overwrite something that's been hardwired into them for so long.

It's not like the Garleans are going out of their way to tell the ordinary citizenry back in the capital that they're killing and raping people they believe to be "lesser" races so of course most folk will think you're awful for killing their friends and comrades. They believe in the justness of their cause, just like you do and they have a history of being driven from their lands. It's the by product of war and any nation, regardless of it's creed are going to have soldiers that do fucked up shit in the background. Just because more emphasis was placed on Imperials doesn't mean everyone else is exempt from it. Trying to take a moral high ground against a nation you won't even bother to try and understand any further beyond what's just on the surface level makes you a moronic philistine.

"Hurr durr, a lot of their soldiers did terrible things so that means all of them are evil and deserve what they got even if most of them had no knowledge nor had anything to do with what those evil soldiers did"
