Final Fantasy XIV - Kiwi Free Company

Apparently Alisae was called a waifu on the live letter and people are shitting themselves in rage. Now you have community members turning on the dev team.

EDIT: So apparently the whole deal is that Yoshi P said in the live letter “I know some of you call Alisae your waifu” and people are twisting his words to make it like sound like he said he thinks Alisae is sexy waifu material.
They also pointed out how people were spamming 'Mommy' and 'Daddy' for certain Scions showing up and had a chuckle. It's a complete non-thing but people now have an extra two weeks to burn so a number have gone back to Twitter & shout chat PVP. People are just dying to have something to rage about as always.

Also people are calling Yoshi a pedo on Twitter now. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was just Westerners throwing a tantrum over this.

A little bit of both it seems. As I said everyone is taking what he said out of context, he didn’t call her a waifu, he just said he knows that there are players who consider her one. I don’t get why people are mad about him playing a female Lalafell especially since many of the Lalafell NPCs you meet are adults and they act nothing like children at all.

Also you have some people going after Ishikawa too calling her writing a dating sim. Meanwhile the FFXIV community is full of degenerate fucks who download and make third party mods of the most degenerate shit possible. This community is the absolute last one to throw shit at the dev team and the writers.

Elaborate. I have to hear this logic.
Ishikawa is a fujoshi, which means she probably fetishizes homosexual relationships in a way that's not entirely politically correct by western standards. It's no coincidence that she writes male characters as emotionally-complex gigachads while female characters get put in the trash (except Alisaie, who I think she secretly self-inserts as),

It’s mostly from Stormblood stans. Stormblood for some reason has an EXTREMELY rabid fanbase who freak out over the thought of anyone disliking the expansion. They’ll also go on to accuse people who hate the expansion, especially those who hate the Ala Mhigo parts, of hating brown people.

Then Shadowbringers came out and unlike Stormblood has a good plot and was highly praised by the fanbase. Stormblood stans saw Ishikawa getting a ton of praise and standing ovations from crowds, and that made them mad. Since then they’ve been tearing apart her writing trying to look for offensive content and misogyny. Bad takes include Runar being a creepy stalker to Yshtola, Thancred being abusive to Ryne, “imperial apologia” with Gaius and Emet, and making Graha her self insert husbando or some shit. Sadly a lot of these takes were nuked after other players called them all out so I can’t really find much anymore. Basically it’s less looking for offensive content and more trying to tear down a highly praised expansion pack to prop up their favorite.

tl;dr Stormblood fans are mad that people like SHB and Ishikawa’s writing so they’re coping by making the most horrific takes.

Fujos are the least of my problems with the FFXIV community when I have to deal with autistic degens trying to ERP in PF as well as whatever sex weirdo thing the community has cooked up. It's just the pot calling the kettle black.

Liking the Ala Mhigo plot and Lyse is MTF tranny culture. Not even joking. For some reason, they all like Lyse.

IMO the female characters are written well under Ishikawa. Also I never saw any fujo tones in her writing at all, or at least anything blatant. Unless I am stupid and missing some piece of dialogue or undertones where the male characters secretly imply they want to fuck each other.

Ishikawa isn’t perfect but even at her weakest her writing is fine. Even if she is a fujo I don’t care as long as it doesn’t leak into the plots.

On the subject of Lyse SB fans are super weird with her. One minute they praise her then the next complain her relevance to the plot is colorism and that she is a white savior. Also a lot of them are hard core Lyse/Yshtola shippers so characters like Runar make them seethe.

Asmongold made a stink about lala for awhile and Western players bitch about them even though gnomes are totally fine. I just like lalas because they look like the Bravely Default chibis.

Lmao ive never heard much SB fantards, but i only returned circa reflections in crystal or so (i distinctly remember the sperging on Ryne and the other chick not being gay) and it seemed like by that time shit like that had toned down

Ishikawa being a fujo is a meme because people interpret Graha's desire to die for you as love, assuming you play a male character. To my knowledge, I don't think she ever admitted to being a fujo.

Tbh, that reminds me it does seem like male characters get more potential shipping fanservice with your WoL than female characters. Aside from the aformentioned G'raha thing and Zenos being a yandere there's the dinner date in heavensward and JP haurchefant being thirsty for you. I'm not complaining but it's kinda funny to think about considering from the outside there's all the waifu memes.

I'm a big fan of Stormblood and I love Gyr Abania and Ala Mhigo, and I hate those sections of Stormblood so fucking much. They pretty much wanted to write a story about Gyr Abania, but then shifted the whole story to Doma and made it all about them. I get it and I still like the Doma stuff, but as someone who really likes the lore of Gyr Abania (Monks and Red Magic) Stormblood was a slap in the face with the moments of like "This is amazing stuff in a very shafted story."

You go through places like Temple of the Fist (side content mind you) and see this fucking incredible attention to detail. Being able to see Rhalgr's from the mountainside in that dungeon is amazing, and Skalla is a treasure trove of love and attention to the landscape and culture. But then you have Ala Mhigo a fucking major staple of the area just be a dungeon. Why can't I explore this area proper? Why is it just a simple dungeon? Royal Menagerie is a fucking awesome set piece and now come 5.5 that's fucked up and you can't even visit it without doing NG+.

HW is my favorite in terms of everything (including writing), BUT I do think Ishikawa can write some amazing things that can at times match HW writing. My guess is people are sick of hearing SHB positivity and are looking for holes to throw molten hot takes into. Why not complain about the shit that actually is bad, like Ranj'it without question being one of the worst and pointless antagonist characters introduced in XIV? That man's whole existence is pathetic and I think a character like Grynewalt somehow had more character then him, and he's just the "RIP AND TEAR" dude.

I'm like 110% for certain the XIV team just doesn't know how to write good MSQ female characters anymore without either making them a lalafell (which immediately people hate), basically just only be tomboys (Like Alisae), or just be dead (Like Moebrynda). Fordola is a good start, but again she's a character that hasn't spread her wings yet and I was really hoping she would play a key part in endwalker buildup almost being another Scion. But we'll just wait and see on that idea.

SB does have a lot of missed potential. There is a lot of cool shit and I actually did like the Gyr Abania maps even if they were bland at times. I think tackling both Ala Mhigo and Doma at the same time hurt the EP especially since it was obvious the writers were more interested in the latter.

For SHB praise I can understand people getting annoyed with it especially if they are a fan of SB. Sadly the SB stans on Twitter are so severely petty that they respond to SHB praise by tearing it down, throwing fits, and even making nasty personal comments about Ishikawa as I’ve documented in previous posts.

However it’s not just SHB. I’ve seen SB stans bash HW as well, complaining about it being too white and how dare people prefer the “white” and “boring” elf boys over their favorite PoC characters. The crabs in a bucket mentality is strong with them.

The FFXIV community in general has a fanboy issue and it fascinates me in how it manifests in different ways. Hardcore SB stans are my favorite fanboys to watch.

Westeners take things out of context and make a stink out of something mundane. Water is also wet.

No one should ever listen to some idiot westerner talk about the japanese and their culture/behavior as if they should be held to the same standards as an american. This is why the japanese opinon and view of americans is probably declining more and more each time they read their retarded american takes on twitter.

Leave it to them to take a throwaway comment or observation and blow it out of proportion because people desperately want to be mad at something or someone.

yoshi p if i can't speed through the content as quick as humanly possible in order to be done with it in a week and complain that there isn't any content in the game i'm gonna fucking poo poo doo doo do you understand me this is a real threat, this is not a drill

From the sounds of things, he doesn't even realize this "drama" exists. It seems like the whole of the team just doesn't pay attention to the western audience - who are anyways going to keep subbing, so what would the use of giving them attention over what could even at its most uncharitable be described as a gaffe?

Ran'Jit is exactly why I maintain that ShB from the end of Dohn Mheg essentially until you reach Aumarot is actually fairly weak. The whole section smacks of the cutting room floor, of stuff chopped. I want you to consider Ran'Jit's entire motivation: he wasn't strong enough to protect the people he cared about, and he has to watch them (in his view) pointlessly kill themselves in vain. This is at this point in time contrasted with Thancred's desire to protect Rayne, right? Now wouldn't that section have hit a lot harder if Thancred had actually died? You would be put in a position to understand Ran - your buddy just bit the goddamn bullet, and you weren't able to stop him.

Similarly, the whole of his appearance in Qitana Ravel is schlock. How is it that he knows his way around some sealed, unexplored ruin better than the people guarding it? How do the Eulmorans manage to be unstoppable when the plot needs them to be, and then get routed the instant that it becomes convenient? How did he get out of the hole? Who thought anyone would view Eulmore and its general as a meaningful antagonist when they don't manage to do anything except lose in increasingly embarrassing ways? It doesn't add up with how the introduction or the ending are written, and as such feels like filler that was scrambled together on the fly after someone said "no, you can't kill any of the main characters this time either."

SB stans should be understood as contratians. There are a lot of interesting ideas and premises set up in Stormblood, and with some tinkering, a lot of it could have been great. I don't even necessarily think that splitting the focus had to be a loss narratively - the problem is that you leave Gyr Abania and nothing changes there. It just exists in stasis until you're back from the great asian adventure. Inconsistent pacing, utterly flat characters, and the entirety of Lyse all fail its potential wholly.
