Yeah, the game is notorious for having the most obnoxious fucking attention whores whenever a streamer plays the game.
They follow them around the entire stream, spam battle effects, constantly initiate trades and backseat game. It's awful and honestly, any streamer who plays the game on stream can have their experience ruined. It's just not the same as playing it off stream.

I get that they try to make community this whole thing, but a lot of people just take it too far. Every time I've seen a stream about the game, the streamer always and I mean always has to tell their viewers to chill the fuck out because they either try to tell them how to play the game or get mad when they don't react to things the way they want. Don't even get me started on the people who have a meltdown if the streamer gets distracted from MSQ or something.

The most well known example of this is when Asmongold played. He liked the game so much he even played it off stream a lot. But people were getting impatient with him because he wasn't doing the MSQ at the pace his viewers wanted. They pestered him relentlessly about it until he got fed up and just quit the game altogether because he was tired of people bothering him and it stopped being fun for him.

FFXIV needs less players, not more.

I dunno. All I know is that any time you come across a hoard of people being annoying and shitting up an entire city or town, there's usually a streamer about.

Thankfully since I'm on Dynamis I don't have to deal with that and when I do cross over to another DC, I'm usually in like the end game areas.

This game is not good to stream and I really wished that streamers would just fuck off. Since Evercold is on the way, everyone wants to grift off the hype.
Worst part about all this is that you even have the cunts from Hololive streaming the game.

I'm not gonna lie, the trannies and gooners were always there. The people I knew online back in the Gamergate days fell apart as a group, because primarily the ones who played 14 turned into troons or troon chasers. I recall one of them even getting in-game married and later in-game divorced, resulting in a lot of jokes at his expense ("SHE TOOK THE LALAFELS/FREE COMPANY/etc").

That shit is actually why I stayed away from 14 for a very long time, because it always had a dire reputation (thanks, Balmung) that every other MMO is now similarly infested with. It took two good friends of mine in my current friend group, who both show no signs of going crazy, for me to even consider playing 14 in the first place. I say that as a guy who has played most single player FFs.

I don't say much other than a quick "hi" in party/alliance chat in duties, or having to mention anything like mechanics or something, because online games (not just 14) in general are a minefield now.

On a better note: I really enjoy Samurai, my combo is my buffs, rather than being cucked out of damage for like 90 seconds. Been playing Coils and Hard ARR Eikon trials, along with the Hildibrand questline, all with my friend on the same server.

Did the crafter and gatherer tribe quests for leveling, the plots were pretty neat, nothing crazy but these quests always do a good job of making you feel like you're making the world a better place to live

of course the perverts have always been there, but it wasn't nearly so open as it is now. even after Balmung became the ERP server it was something people kept on the down-low, now Balmung is population locked and the gooners have been overflowing onto the rest of Crystal for years now. fucking Asmongold and the mass onboarding event during Endwalker multiplied the populations of all the worst types of player by a thousand. I hate so much that Yoshida is such a loyal company man, XIV is falling into the same trap as WoW where they oversimplify the core gameplay and then try to shift the difficulty into autismal high-end content, which makes everything except savages and ultimates boring as fuck to play. but we can't chase away the retards, now! player count is important, we want Final Fantasy XIV to be a game for everybody. and if you don't like all your groups being full of RPers and Discord kittens that can't heal party AOEs, out-damage a tank, use mits, or survive boss mechanics in a fucking expert dungeon, then the problem is you, buddy. gatekeeping BAD!!

Oh yeah, I also get annoyed when as a Samurai doing duty roulette it sudden goes from "chill and alternate my AOEs, or my single target combos on bosses" to "PRESS EVERY OGCD FOR MITS AND LIFESTEAL" because the tank decided to run his ass wall to wall, and either him and the healer fell asleep at the wheel and suddenly I'm the one tanking. And the example of this I had just now, neither of them were a sprout.

Also did Bahamut (regular), duo'd with a friend who ran the whole thing with a levelcapped tank. I did what I could in fights until I'd inevitably drop from too much stray damage with a lack of healer. Next is MSQ to Heavensward I suppose.

I did some searching and it seems that when Asmongold was playing FF14 four years ago Square added clause about "Improper following" to FF14 ToS, and actually banned some people for it. I'm not sure how much they have enforced that rule since. But streamers definitely have grounds to report people that follow them around.

I believe it was Endwalker where they implemented the "turn off player characters around quest NPCs" feature but even then, it only does so much.
And yet there's people who beg for mounts to be able to ride in big cities.

It's because people were specifically following him around as bards and intentionally using /perform to make horrible noises as well as other harassing things (clearing maps of mobs he needed, blocking quest givers, etc).

Generally speaking you're allowed to follow a streamer around but not allowed to be a dick about it.
