Mentioning Pinochet reminds me that most of the Fidel worship is just knee-jerk America hate.
I mean, I have no problem with criticizing the US for putting guys like Pinochet in power and shielding them from removal by shady means. I can get behind that. But, a lot of these people want it both ways. It's not only wrong for US policy to support South American juntas, but it's also wrong for policy to try to remove them through sanction or military force.
It's one or the other, people, either we have the right to determine who's in charge or we don't (and I'd say we don't) but whatever side you take, be CONSISTENT or else you're just another identity politics douche pleading special cases.
Dictators who brutally oppress their people suck, you can't support one because he stays in power despite US influence anymore than you can decry one who is in power only THROUGH US influence.
That's the problem with all of this, it's driven by people who have such a hate boner for the evils of Capitalism/America that ANY move is the wrong one, and they damage their case much like how SJWs do when EVERYTHING is racist.
