I think most straight men just resort to saying “I’m just a big guy, I’m a big teddy bear” like most men who get fat. They don’t really need to spout FA because society is marginally more accepting of the “lovable big guy.” They coast on saying that a lot of it is “muscle” and they’re “actually pretty strong.” They’re not, they’re fat with a giant beer gut, but still.Hooly shit that was a ride.
All the male fa's seem to genderspeshuls. Weird how most straight guys don't fall for this crap.
Society is slightly more forgiving of larger men because larger = better for men, at least in terms of muscle. A larger man is automatically seen as stronger, which is a positive masculine trait, especially in a confrontation.
Women aren’t supposed to be larger, they’re supposed to be smaller. Not anorexic, but not as big as a man. And they’re allowed to be strong, so long as they don’t look strong. A woman walking down the street with jacked-up female bodybuilder muscles is going to attract stares. So even bulking up purely on muscle is not seen as attractive or desirable. A strong male bodybuilder will be the envy of all his mates. A female bodybuilder would be gently questioned by her friends who suggest she’s “overdoing it” and “don’t work out too much or you’ll lose your femininity....you don’t want to scare off dates.”
On the surface, you can kind of see where FA was originally going, at least for its female adherents. Women aren’t allowed to get bigger for any reason, even through exercise, without criticism. Men are allowed more leeway to get bigger, even if it’s all fat.
It’s just that FA took this lunacy way too far and started telling people that packing on three stone of visceral fat around your organs is a good thing and definitely won’t lead to a heart attack.
