And yes, there was fruit, be it fresh in season, or preserved in various ways, but it didn't have the same potent sweetness sugar did, and was hard to overeat.
We have fruit trees in our garden, and truly fresh fruit, ooooh, it is GOOD. I dont eat much sugar otherwise, and maybe that’s why, but the cherries off our tree, or the apples when they’re perfectly ripe, are incredible. Very tart along with the sweet as well.
I find it interesting that they’re so overclocked on refined sugar that even ripe fruit is like cardboard to them. The ripest, most sugary sought after food bar honey that we’ve ever had access to before modern times isn’t enough.
There’s eating for pleasure and then there’s frying your responses to the point that natures own treats do nothing for you.

TBF, a lot of fruit found in grocery stores isn't that great, and, frankly, is complete shit compared to fresh, fully-ripe, in-season fruit from your own backyard, a farmstand, or a you-pick farm. Most of it is varieties that have been bred for attractive appearance and ability to withstand shipping, and is picked underripe because it would just rot in transit if picked at its peak.

I grow watermelons and strawberries every year, and have two cherry trees and one decrepit peach tree. Blackberries grow wild here, as well as tiny wild strawberries. Nothing gets picked until it's ready to eat, and then I stuff my face with it, can it, or give it away that day. A perfectly ripe strawberry, or a melon that has been allowed to ripen on the vine, or a peach straight off the tree? It blows people's minds. Nothing shipped up from Mexico can even begin to compare.

Also consider that the fruits kids (at least here in the US) are given most often—bananas, Red Delicious apples, and seedless clementines—are among the blandest, least flavorful options available. They've been picked underripe, transported long distances, and (at least for apples and citrus) sat in cold storage for a while before finally getting to the consumer. They're "fresh"—only they're not.

And to a kid who gets served these fruits, but also has plenty of chances to eat sugary treats, fruit is going to seem really boring—because, frankly, the fruit they get is. So I can see how deathfats end up needing extremely sweet fruits, such as mangoes or pineapple, to get excited about fruit at all; they've learned from childhood that it's not high-reward, especially not when compared to sugar-laden junk, so as adults they stick to what's going to give them the rush they're after.

That person's arguments about Ozempic are so fucking retarded. Do they not realize that there is a huge difference between "enjoying" food and being so obsessed with it that it's nearly all you can think about and can't stop overeating it? That's what most people mean when they say Ozempic helps them with the food noise. But these fat idiots can't imagine living in a world where food isn't the most important thing that consumes their every thought. Sorry but THAT sounds like a miserable existence to me.

OMG, those tiny wild strawberries are amazing. As a kid we had a cottage and a large field next to it. One day my grandmother comes in with a bowl just full of wild strawberries she spent a couple hours collecting. We didn't do anything special with them just ate them with plain old vanilla ice cream but more than 30 years later I can STILL remember how good they were. I mention this to my parents and they also wax nostalgic about those. But then we would go picking raspberries and blackberries and all sorts of things.

But yeah nothing beats fruit that has been allowed to ripen in the Sun and is just bursting with flavor.

It is a miserable existence. You need to eat to live and sure, enjoy what you're eating but if the only pleasure you get is from eating then that's sad.

Eating shouldn't be a chore but you also shouldn't be eating 5000 calories a day unless you're a competitive bodybuilder.

We all have our great joy(s) in life. As long as it’s not criminal behaviour, who cares what others spend their time doing? Yes, these fatties cost society more but they also die at a younger age. Successful and sustainable weight loss is extremely rare. So why not just let these puffers get on with it and then die a quick death? I don’t understand why we spend time and resources putting them thru the agony of calorie restriction and exercise, only to have them completely fail or at first succeed and then gain it all back. Because we are their keepers and should butt in when they go astray? At what point are we intruding on their personal freedom?
Maybe we’re so invested in them because they flaunt it on social media. Often for money to support their habit. I personally could care less. Eat all you want. Sloth away. It can be cathartic and amusing watching these landslides in operation. Otherwise they wouldn’t be so popular. We sure as hell don’t watch because of their sparkling personalities.

So why not just let these puffers get on with it and then die a quick death?
Because they don't die a quick death. They spend years, sometimes decades suffering from a dozen different ailments because they can't stop eating. Ailments that in most cases would be greatly alleviated by not being the greedy, irresposible pigs that they are. And meanwhile their families and loved ones suffer too, watching them die a slow, agonizing, but preventable death.
Not to mention the economic aspects of dealing with a sentient planetoid, treatments, medications, therapy, and whatnot, can't just let momma rot away into a pile of festering boils and puss just because she can't stop eating and will throw a fit whenever someone dares suggests she puts the fork down, can we?

Gluttony is one of the deadly sins for a reason.

Many, many people out there are silently wishing that these fat bastards would die a quick death.

Exactly. Nurses, EMTs and other first responder professionals are having their lives destroyed by injuries from moving deathfats around. Even helping one roll over can damage a nurse's back, ending her career.

I don't care if rando deathfats eat themselves to death if no one else ever has to move them. Also, they need to stay the fuck off airplanes unless they buy two or three seats.

Fruit- I do smoothies as a treat (fruit, ice, chia seeds, other odds and ends like sunflower seeds whatnot) and winter is coming. Where I live it is often difficult to get to the store reliably because of weather so I was ordering canned /container fruit to have on hand for those times.

Do you know what they do to fruit? I did not. They pack most of it in heavy syrup. I gagged reading that. Why? Who's cooking with or eating heavy syrup? Or, light syrup either? Searching for no syrup fruit guess what? It's in water - with added sugar. Search sugar free... and it's sweetened with artificial sweetener. What the actual fuck? I don't even think it's relevant to the conversation here but I saw fruit discussion and raged out for a minute. I never knew any of that and I am an intelligent person, what chance do dumb people stand trying to buy food?

Sugar is used as a preservative to preserve the flavor and texture. You can get fruits that have been canned in water, but they'll probably turn into mush. If you have a big enough freezer, use frozen fruit instead.

Deathfats often crave sugar, but they're not maintaining an extra 100 lbs on hard candies or extra spoonfuls of sugar in their tea. They're eating large quantities of fatty carb-heavy food.

If you managed to get one to eat an apple, they'd be back at McDonalds an hour later to scratch that itch. A rum-flavored candy won't satisfy an alcoholic's cravings, and a piece of fruit won't stop a fatty from eating ice cream.

You can rinse off the sugar liquid by pouring the canned fruit into a colander/strainer and running it under gentle cool water. In fact, you should rinse off almost anything that comes out of a can unless it gets too messy (like tuna) or it's a sauce. The can "water" that comes off canned beans or canned chicken is gross.

At what point are we intruding on their personal freedom?
When their piss poor behavior bogs down medical systems that are paid for by the tax payers and creates excess demand that causes personnel and treatment shortages for others. To be frank, Fatty McFatterson can go rot in a fucking gutter so someone who actively looks after his/her health can have access to ER staff when needed, doctors when required, and not have hellishly long lines for surgeries and other assorted cares. Having resources wasted on a fucking twat who ate his or herself into certain cancers is a waste to put it mildly.

Plus as stated above by @Clotso Coof let's not forget the personnel who risk THEIR personal freedom because of these fucktards' poor decisions. The nurses that risk their backs. The firefighters who risk themselves to move these dumb dingdongs. The airport personnel who have to shove these buckets of lard in their bariatric wheelchairs around airport terminals. Why should THEY have to suffer because Dumbshit JigglePuff can't put down the HoHos and get down to a manageable weight where he/she can govern his/her own destiny without having to saddle their bulbous weight on others?

When someone's joy puts others' quality of life at risk, it's unacceptable, personal freedom or not.

That's why shame needs to come back into society. Shame and shunning.

lol fat

That’s what they do with organic. Cold storage and no oxygen. For most regular fruit it’s soaked or sprayed with chemicals that either stop it releasing the gas that signals ripening or /and chemicals to stop the response to the gas. Nasty stuff.
Take a look at how the numbers in the little stickers they put on fruit work in your country. Organic and chemically sprayed have different codes.
I do often wonder what effect spraying our food with synthetic shite has on our metabolism as well. Even trying to eat healthily is stymied when most of the food is doused in pesticides, fungicides and ripening inhibitors. I wish we really prioritised food, genuinely enjoyed the good stuff. I’m sure it’s not responsible for people being 600lb but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s affecting our metabolisms as well as the pests

There's a reason for the sugar. It's a preservative. It's there to ensure the fruit doesn't go bad. Salt and vinegar do the same thing. They make it too hostile for bacteria to exist and in the case of sugar or salt it draws water from them so they die.

And then the fruit they do pick tends to be picked when underripe and forced to "ripen" by subjecting it to ethylene gas which artificially speeds up the process of "ripening". The reason I'm using scare quotes? It's not actually ripening. It's a forced rot. The only way to ripen fruit is to leave it on the vine or the tree with very few exceptions. Once you take it off it's dead and it starts to rot. The ethylene gas is what fruits give off to force the others around them to mature faster. It's why just one piece of rotten fruit in a barrel can affect the entire thing.

You want fruit that hasn't been soaked in syrup? Buy them frozen.

Just remember, even organic fruits and vegetables are doused in pesticides. They're just not synthetically produced (and, source: farmers in the family, most of those pesticides are MORE environmentally destructive than the synthetic ones and result in longer fallow periods to restore field productivity, hence why source: farmers in family refuse to grow organic again after one season of doing so which resulted in less profit from those fields utilized). The only way to completely avoid pesticides is to grow it yourself - if it's produced by a commercial entity for sale to the general public, even if it's a family owned farm, pesticides are utilized to boost crop production for profitability. But this is not really the forum to discuss that.

WRT fatties, they just need to eat more fruits and veggies no matter how they're produced. Period. Forcing the body to actually process complex carbohydrate rather than have near instant access to simple carbohydrate would be a boon.

And wash your fucking fruit and veggies regardless of the source, FFS.

THIS right here. This is why I refuse to buy organic assuming I have the choice.

People have been conditioned to think it means "natural". It doesn't, It just means they can only use natural fertilizers and natural pesticides. Some of which are EXACLTY the same chemically as the ones made in a factory. But because they're made in a lab they can't be used. It's a lower yield and more maintenance which results in higher prices. And you compare organic to regular produce and there's literally no difference in taste, flavor or nutrition. Organic is really a scam when you get down to it.

Now you want real fruits and veg that taste great? Start a garden in your backyard and grow your own. You'll never go back to store bought ever again.

Fat tantrum in a women's ultramarathon group:

Tried on multiple hydration vests today at local outdoors store...nathan, solomon, camelback, osprey, and a few others. Tried men and women, women wouldn't even go on around more than 1 shoulder in their "XL size" (lol). Largest size was an XXL men's. Fit result below. Found nada, nothing, zip, zilch. None of them are designed to be inclusive for women with wide shoulders and big breasts (F/G/H-48.5" breasts). Finding that running gear companies are not body positive nor inclusive.
Any suggestions of what to try on next and where to find said things? Do running stores actually have bigger sizes on hand or am I stuck with buying online, trying at home, and returning hassles?

If you don't know, a hydration vest is a way to carry your stuff (water, fuel) while running. It straps tightly to your body so your shit doesn't bounce around while you run. It's designed for long outings--experienced runners don't need a liter of water and a bunch of snacks for a quick 10k.
Screenshot 2024-11-02 090103.png

I doubt this fatty needs a hydration vest, she's not running so far, fast, or efficiently that she can't use another solution like a belt, backpack, or just carry a water bottle in her hand. She also doesn't actually want a hydration vest: if she found one that """fit""" her, that'd mean water bottles strapped right on top of her gazongas, bouncing even more than if she carried them in a plastic grocery bag. Also, you'd think that by now she'd realize that 48-H breasts are well into the "not accommodated in brick-and-mortar stores" territory. But no! Gotta head over to Facebook to tantrum about how rUnNiNg bRAnDs aRe nOt bODy-pOsiTivE nOr iNcLuSiVe😫😫😫and acting like buying online is some kind of death sentence.

She's on testosterone and concerned that she'll get popped for doping despite being DFL (dead fuckin' last) in the many races she has participated in since taking up running two months ago:
Screenshot 2024-11-02 093104.png
Question - How does HRT with testosterone fit into the following scenario.
One of the racing organizers I'm am running events with now has an "Anti-Doping Policy" where they will test runners, mostly "elite" athletes in accordance to the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA).
When I went to the WADA Prohibited List and Global DRO all list testosterone as banned substance.
I'm no where near elite, mostly DFL, so how does this affect the average person like me, who is on HRT using testosterone for medical reasons?

Good for her if she's out there exercising but unless you're literally running a marathon you don't need a camelback or hydration vest. Bring a fucking bottle of water with you strapped to your backpack full of snacks as you hike one mile and grab an Uber back.

As for why they don't make them in heffalump size it's because the three people in the world that would actually use one don't justify the cost.

What a company should do, if they were smart, is offer a custom built one for fatasses like this that like to complain then explain why it costs $400 because of all the extra material and the fact that they're going to fill the water bladder with Yoo Hoo and that tends to clog up the straw so it needs to be specially designed.

EDIT: Spelling.

OMFG, this is peak delulu! Thanks for sharing this fatty in a fucking ULTRA group, @Potatis Salad !!!

To echo @Falcon Sebben , fit runners can do a 1/2 marathon without a hydration vest. Source: Personally do at least 1 of these a month and a single water bottle is more than enough. She's bitching about gear that is completely not applicable to her chunky butt. She's not going 10km if she can't fit a men's XXL. She MAY be hurpalurpping a 5k. MAY.

For those not in the know, an ultra is anything longer than a marthon (26.2 miles or 42.2 km for non Burgerlandia folks). Most common lengths are 30 miles (~50k), 50 miles (~80.5k), 62 miles (100k) and 100 miles (161k), but longer do exist. These events REQUIRE the extra support of hydration vests and shit because, unlike most marathons which have support stations every few miles, there can be enormous stretches of miles where there's zero support. And they can be quite dangerous: See the Gansu ultra marathon (which was 'only' 100km).

The longest ultras go from 268 miles all the way up to an eye watering 3,100 miles.

I'd be flabbergasted if I was a member of an ultra group and some fat fuck was bitching about the run community not being 'very inclusive.' It's VERY, VERY inclusive. Runners don't discourage ANYONE from starting. But runners also, for the most part, preach caution and staying within your limits so you don't injure yourself on your journey to your goal. And they'll ask what kind of event you're aiming for that you require a fucking hydration vest for, because there's about zero percent chance that a 'you're not inclusive, xxl hydration vests don't fit' Fatty Boom Boom is realistically training for an event that needs one. Hell, I'd encourage she hold off on buying one until she's capable of going that distance in a controlled training environment (like around a track, on a treadmill, with a partner that can help carry hydration, etc) because likely her size will have reduced significantly and she'll be capable of utilizing what's carried by her local sporting goods store.

Runners will happily shout out "Good job getting out there!" and encourage you as you weeble down a trail at a vigorous walk. I can't think of anything more inclusive than that. :)

(sorry for the sperging, all, but me likum fitness, running and cycling dur hur. Puzzle piece to your hearts' content.)
