Sonichu [Fan Comic] Rosechu's Story - A reimagining of the Sonichu story from Rosechu's perspective.

I don't suppose anyone's taken the time to read any of the custom pokemon cards he made, but Rosechu's card is a little interesting. The only offensive move she has can only become more powerful if there are one or more Sonichus in play. Other than that, all she has is that 50/50 paralyzing move.

He might have gotten this from the first card for Nidoqueen, back in 1999. She had a move called "Boyfriends" and it allowed you to add further damage for each Nidoking you had in play. Thats my guess, at least.

Possible, though I never really got into the Pokemon TCG, so I wouldn't really know.

Sunday's page, though! Whee!

Kind of went mad sketching this out just because I forgot what it looks like when someone small climbs into a chair. Hopefully it's obvious that she's climbing into the chair and not trying to, I dunno, use it like you would a push scooter?

Also, perspective! I'm so rusty at it, so many screw ups that I don't have the time or inclination to fix. At least they're not too obvious to the untrained eye...

I'm pretty much an untrained eye, and things look good. I don't see anything that really looks bad offhand. I'm sure that someone with more experience could give you more feedback, but offhand things look great. I really like that you have Rosechu worrying about her lack of powers rather than going around saying "teehee, I'm a pretty pretty lady", which is essentially what Chris had her do.

I'm reading this side by side with the Sonichu remake and the originals. Comparing every single page. It's... it's beautiful. (not the original Sonichu though. die original sonichu.)

It's great because it offers an alternative explanation for why Rosey wants companionship that's not "oh I'm a woman and I need a man and I never gave a shit about this before now"

I wonder if we will ever figure out stuff like the origins of The Incredible Lioness and how Rosechu became the airhead we all know and love. My guess is a certain great director and/or a certain scientist were involved...

I love the little touch of Stalker Sonichu in the background! You can really feel the incoming molestation...

Digging the latest page. Yeah, there are some perspective hiccups in here, but nothing damning and nothing I should complain abut because I'm just as rusty. Just a few things come to mind:

1) I really got this apprehension that Kel is going to do a Fox and Hound on Rosechu. I really don't want to end up hating her...

2) I just realized just mentioning "Brunswick Stew" may be one of the more original things Chris may have ever added to Sonichu, just because it's nothing simple like Spaghetti-Os or Michelina's or whatever. I'm fairly certain he stole the idea from somewhere else, but it's interesting that a character for a brief, fleeting moment, said something moderately interesting and/or not completely incomprehensible.

3) NOT PETS AT THE DINNER TABLE!

4) "Maybe then I could figure out why I lost my abilities." Thinking about it- Rosechu was originally a Raichu. Sonichu was a Pikachu. Now, I don't play the Pokemans, but I do know that essentially made her superior to Pikachu. Shit, just thinking of how pissed that would make her, that he's more or less power incarnate and she's now just a pink bipedal fur monster. It's like finding out that schlub that works in your office that doesn't even legitimately work 30 hours a week is pulling in more money than you do working 50 hours in a week.

Okay, good! I'm glad it looks okay Meeko.

But yeah, you're going to see the character's motivations deviate from the comic quite a lot. I don't have the script completely written out for all this, but quite a lot of what I have down so far is stuff like this where I keep the dialog as intact as I possibly can, but with the context changed.

Kel looks pretty cute in the page. :3

Also liked how Sonichu is sneaking up at her outside the house.

Kel has actually grown on me quite a bit since I started writing her part in. At first I thought that I'd probably have to make her a rather awful person. Granted, she's still flawed in quite a few ways, but I think she'll be a lovable enough addition to the cast.

I read through the remake again last night, and the differences really are interesting. Everyone has their own style, not just for art and choice of framing, but also in where the emphasis is placed in every page.

The Incredible Lioness will be explained...kinda. Like, we're not going to get too far into the mechanics of how exactly it works (just because, frankly, it wouldn't add a lot to the story), but by the time it happens, I think we'll have a clear idea of why she turns.

Not planning on turning her into an airhead, though, whether through the power of science or otherwise. I have some better ideas for those moments. Besides, making her an airhead partway through would ruin the ending I have.

I love the little touch of Stalker Sonichu in the background! You can really feel the incoming molestation...

Oh geez! xD

I should've known someone would do something like this.

1) I really got this apprehension that Kel is going to do a Fox and Hound on Rosechu. I really don't want to end up hating her...

I don't know exactly what you're referring to (although I do know what The Fox and the Hound is. Rather decent movie for direct to video....) but now that I think of it, there are a lot of parallels to the story I have and that movie. Not enough that I think you'll be hating Kel, though. I don't really have anything too reprehensible for her planned.

2) I just realized just mentioning "Brunswick Stew" may be one of the more original things Chris may have ever added to Sonichu, just because it's nothing simple like Spaghetti-Os or Michelina's or whatever. Brunswick stew is actually a popular southern dish, so I'm not at all surprised that Chris references that. I'm guessing it wasn't simple like Spaghetti-o's because if berries and apples weren't cutting it for Sonichu, I don't know that Spaghetti-o's would be a much heartier meal. Then again, that's giving Chris a lot of credit, so I don't know. :P

3) NO PETS AT THE DINNER TABLE!

:(

I actually don't know how aware pokemon are of how evolutions affect them and others, but it could stand to reason that (in their own evolutionary line, at the very least) Rosechu would be aware that a Raichu is stronger than a Pikachu in general, but we should also remember that their current forms are considered evolutions too, just like Raichu and Pikachu are, so it'd be more likely in my mind that Rosechu thinks of it as just her getting the shaft. Sonichu, as a pikachu, gets an evolution that evidently surpasses a Raichu's prowess, and she gets an evolution that basically turns her into an electric type magikarp.

Awesome comic! I love your pixely style you're going for here and I think its brilliant how you're actually trying to make readers give a crap about Rosechu.

Have you put these comics anywhere where people can read them easier, like a webcomic format or something? Its kind of a pain having to flip through all the pages of this topic to read them all.

Okay, cool. Yeah, it's just one of those apprehensions that we know that Rosechu is kinda useless now, and Kel is a serious Pokemon trainer. Not saying I was expecting her to try and take Rosechu out behind the barn or anything, I figure she's compassionate enough, but at the same time kinda fearing I might start hearing Sarah McLaughlin in the background or something.

Yeah, I actually had to look up Brunswick Stew since the most southern state I've ever lived in was Ohio. I just meant it was interesting/ odd for Chris to mention actual food instead of having Kel go, "Oh, I bought us McDonald's!" or "Oh, I'm heating up a Hungry Man dinner we can share!" Essentially it surprised me Chris knows more about cuisine than what he gets for fast food or what he gets in a microwavable dinner.

...and now I gotta try making Brunswick Stew for myself...

This is when I start thinking way too hard this stuff, but wouldn't their transformations be considered a mutation rather than an evolution since an outside element was placed upon them? Or maybe it really doesn't matter. :p

I'm actually interested to see how you handle the infamous Dragonite line from Chris's version of this scene. Only because I know you can make it make sense and not sound awkward doing so.

Well already Rosechu has an actual motive besides 'GIMME SOME PEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN!' so Trickie's version of that Dragonite line will instantly be 11000000% less squicky.

Thank you! ^.^ I actually have a bit of a theory that just about anything can be a good story, so long as it has the right author and the right vision, even if it's a retelling of a sonic/pokemon recolor knockoff, so that's essentially what I'm trying to accomplish.

I'll see about something more concrete eventually (I actually thought of shelling out enough to buy rosechu.com just to amuse myself, but it's probably not worth it), but for now a small imgur gallery should do fine. I'll link to it in the front page too for anyone else who wants it.

Actually, as far as pokemon evolutions go, it's not uncommon for evolutions to be triggered by external influences. Some pokemon evolve into different forms depending on the time of day it is when they level, or what they're holding in their hands, sometimes you have to trade a pokemon to someone to trigger an evolution, so being hit with a 100% STRAIGHT rainbow isn't really too out of left field.

Oh that's easy. I'm much more concerned with how their falling in love bit is going to go over with everyone xD

To add to this: All of this makes sense in-game. However, there's one Pokémon that evolves if it hits level 30 while you're holding the 3DS upside down. I can't think of any possible way to explain that in-universe. A rainbow makes more sense than that.

So I read that Brunswick stew usually contains at least one or more types of meat, the authentic recipes using squirrel or rabbit. Going by Pokemon equivelants, does that mean Kel is essentially cooking Bunnelbies/Pachirisus? Or would it be more along the lines of Miltank/Tepig/Torchic meat? The Pokemon cartoon was always weird about meat, IIRC.
