Fallout series

I generally agree, you’re going to maybe lose something, maybe lose a lot - but, you said they’re game developers. Their job is to develop and make games - they are not avowed2-developers, where they can only work on avowed 2.
It's like Ancient Egyptian peasants who spend half a year on building a communal house for themselves and halfway the Pharaoh comes in with his engineers, orders it all destroyed and assigns you to them to build a pyramid here instead.
Yes, the pay may be great and you're actually treated with respect, not like a slave - but you weren't just building a house, you were building a home. And you're not particularly gung-ho about building something you have no personal stake in, even if it'll outlive your shack by thousands of years.
Still, in this example the peasants can point out, by writing on the sand with a finger if must, why the lead engineer's calculations are not adding up and that the structure will fall apart. A game designer from avowed2 cannot do that to the senior marketing specialist's bullshit graphs "proving" that gaymers mandate there be at least 10 romances in next Fallout, and 20% of them have to be gay, of which 50% have to be lesbian.
I know what makes a Fallout game Fallout and what fans would like, being one myself but beats me how to objectively prove it on paper. It's creative work, you either have it or don't. I would be terrible as a game developer for, say, Star Trek because that franchise never catched me.
When I was aspiring to be a programmer decades ago I've been warned again and again to stay the fuck away from gamedev because it's full of naive young upstarts like me who want to "make games first, money later" and that they're exploited all the time because the parent company's execs know it better than them.

There was an example in the wild of how this "crack the whip and inject money+workers to force-finish a game". It was Duke Nukem Forever and it killed the IP.

As overwhelmingly shit as The Frontier was they did have one good idea.

If you had a Caravan deck and Wild Wasteland you could challenge the final boss to a duel instead of a traditional firefight which is absolutely hilarious and very Fallouty.

If there was a mod that did that for Lanius I'd install it.

Honestly, it'd be really funny if Microsoft got Obsidian all hyped up to develop a whole new game, only for the brief that shows up is actually titled "Fallout New Vegas - Remastered".
