Over the past 5+ years there has been a massive cultural shift caused by the political pendulum swinging to the right - being a chud is hip and trendy now, with opinions which could be found only on /pol/ becoming mainstream. This has led to a creation of what I refer to as Euphoric Christians, in comparison to Euphoric Atheists.
This thread is dedicated towards discussion of such phenomenon, and a mockery of these individuals.

Its not THAT surprising. In most of the west, the Church has become so subordinated to the temporal powers that they literally fly the pride progress flag at the front door. Its less a statement about modern Christians, and more a statement about the modern church. Especially in the west. There has been no real principled stand on doctrine and the teachings of Christ by many of the main line protestant denominations and even to some extent the Catholics. So its not surprising the sheep are starting to flee the shepherd that is feeding them to the wolves. The wilderness of sin is safer then the devils own jaws in this scenario.
This is what is leading many doctrinal Christians starting to gravitate towards structured Christianity that is outside of western Europe. From my own experience as an Episcopalian, that has meant many parishes rebelling against the main Episcopal church and swearing fealty to Anglican Bishops in Africa such as the Metropolitan Archbishop of West Africa, Cyril Kobina who were the first to break with the Anglican conference on the issue of the LGBTQ question, a split that has only become more doctrinally severe since.
The Catholics aren't alone in the Shenanigans either. They have an ongoing split with their own conservatives that may be coming to a head under Leo. There are several conservative Bishops leading a borderline schismatic branch of the Catholic Church that rejects most of the Churches reforms of the last few decades, especially those under Vatican II and Pope Francis. But their conferences old Bishops are dying and they are demanding either the right to appoint new Bishops among their faction or for the church to accede to their demands. Both options are of course not being done.
Which ironically is why the Orthodox Church has started surging across the West and has become a meme in and of itself. Mainly because they've not been involved in any of this nonsense and have been carrying on like they always have for the last few centuries. The "Meme Trad Christians" are also a result of this phenomenon. Not trusting any of the church structures to not be cucked and gay, they apply their own personal angst onto what they think ideal Christianity should look like.
I've been trying to put this into words, as well, and I think it's all just an example of the internet's tendency to turn concrete things into abstract ideas.
I would bet a dollar that many of these people didn't grow up going to church, and I also would guess that their parents probably didn't either. They're probably mostly Gen Z/young millennials who grew up in a vaguely Christian, yet irreligious home. At most some of them probably went to church on Easter, but even then they never grew up reading the Bible, attending Sunday school, or talking to devout Christians.
Then, with the popularity of TikTok and other mind-zapping social media, they probably got exposed to strange edits of wojacks taking back the Holy Land or some strange racial supremacy stuff that often conflates Aryanism with Christianity. They already were involved in the 4chan-esque culture milieu where everything is ironic and meant to be a joke, so they originally just laughed at it.
However, when exposed to it again and again, it probably planted itself into their minds. When they see news about a black man committing a murder or a migrant cutting someone up, they felt vindicated thinking of the Crusaders or the European heritage tied to Christianity. And little by little, they actually begin to identify as "Christian."
The thing is, their version of Christianity is far different from what their grandparents probably grew up with. It's all memes and internet slap fights on message boards. It's a bludgeon to use against woke people, and it often can be effective at pissing them off.
Many even want to convert to types of Christianity to which they have little cultural link, like Eastern Orthodoxy, because it's "based" in some way that being a Baptist isn't.
To sum it up, I doubt many of these people even read the Bible or study it, and I doubt even more that many of them go to a church of some kind. They're just abstracted people believing in an abstract version of a religion.

I’ve always noticed this about the “tradcath” types: They always seem to have chosen Catholicism not because the actual beliefs resonate with them in any way, but because they see it as the most hardcore version of Christianity. But traditionally, your stereotypical republican-voting white guy has typically been Protestant. In fact, I seem to recall that before the latter half of the 20th century, most Catholics voted Democrat, and the more extreme bible thumpers didn't even really consider them Christian.

I think this is the best point made in the post. These are people that have zero principles and are purely reactionary. It's funny because I've literally seen this happen with people I knew in high school, going from being incredibly SJW-ish 10 years ago to now being heckin' chuds. I've always hated this quote for an admittedly lame and nitpicky reason because I get what the gist of it is. Jesus would've considered himself a Jew (or Israelite or whatever else you want to quibble with if you want to quibble with it but it's the same shit ultimately), trying to reform Judaism from the corruption he saw from the Second Temple intelligentsia. Him not being a Sadducee, Zealot, Pharisee, or even Essene but from the apocalyptic desert proto-monasticism John had baptized him into made him an outsider, but I believe he would've considered himself a Jew and not a Christian as the idea of being "little Christs" hadn't came about in his time.

The reason for that is that it's not really about Christianity, it's about what Christianity represents in the current year.
