More of what I've noticed on Epstein,
1. Americans generally understood their elites were degenerates, but were fine with it as long as it didn't leak, they are primarily mad it leaked, not that children were raped and trafficked. Thus the performativity from the public.
2. Elites understood that Epstein was increasingly a risk, at some point it was decided (especially with the long-standing legal pressure from victims) to drop protection and have him be arrested. Effectively letting the whole case start and end with Epstein the man, leaving everybody else off with plausible deniability.
What was supposed to happen is the elites and public both get what they want. Epstein is jailed, dramatic trial condemning him on a mountain of charges, fully publicized, becomes a national event for a few years or something, he gets a life charge with lax prison treatment. The public gets their bad guy and a proper coverup, the elites get to go back to whatever until the next time.
What did very likely happen is that someone more directly implicated by Epstein bought out the prison with absurd cash (500k for a guard) and a threat in event of refusal. Someone went in and got him to die. This being effectively the worst-case scenario for both the public and elites, because the narrative that was being prepped and already announced of a bad guy, was shut down with no proper explaination.
As OP said, which I hadn't thought of before, Epstein definitely had forward notice, and re-organized and-or falsified his records to cause as much chaos as possoble. Nobody talks about the smile/smirk in his mugshot.
