Yes, and while part of it is personal the mindless push of society towards a homogeneous and uninteresting consumerist hellhole doesn't help.
That said, I think feelings of apathy and emptiness have been a social issue for as long as history. As difficult (and contrived) as it sounds you really only can improve some things on your own. If all you do is distract yourself from problems and concerns through entertainment it's your responsibility to remove those distractions and reflect on what you find worth in. More narrowly, if videogames have become dull and uninteresting stop playing them for a span of time. Read a book, go outside, take up a hobby, exercise. Don't mindlessly piss away your time while waiting for things to change on their own. Falling back on habits and repetitive behaviors is a surefire way to change nothing personally or otherwise.
One thing that has personally helped me has been researching different beliefs in life and what it means to live a fulfilling one. Knowing how people, philosophies and societies are shaped by the world around them gives perspective into how your own situation arose, and what's at the very least possible from it.
