nahhh it's one of the few things musk has that are actually valuable, they do one thing incredibly well: launch unmanned craft to earth's orbit for (relatively) dirt cheap
i wouldnt trust em with manned payloads or with longer missions (like mars or moon)
cuz the way they manage to keep the costs down is by cutting as many corners as they can get away with (anything except the engines is up to oil-industry standards, not space-grade standards)
the difference between a 99.999% success ratio and a 99% success ratio is not 0.001%, because the 1% chance for failure in the 99% is 1000 times larger than the 0.001% chance in the 99.999%

We finally have a specific example of Musks genius: a basic troubleshooting step an uneducated mechanic could propose.
This was reposted by Musk, by the way.
i think that this anecdote says more on spaceX's engineers than than it says on musk
also does musk use overly-complex wording for everything to sound smart?, cuz it simply makes him look like a pseudo-intellectual
allow me to quote terry A. davis:
"An idiot admires complexity, a genius admires simplicity, a physicist tries to make it simple, for an idiot anything the more complicated it is the more he will admire it, if you make something so clusterfucked he can't understand it he's gonna think you're a god cause you made it so complicated nobody can understand it. That's how they write journals in Academics, they try to make it so complicated people think you're a genius"
