A veteran New York lifestyle journalist in a first-person essay published Friday says Donald Trump raped her in a dressing room at a ritzy Manhattan department store in the mid-1990s — one of the most serious accusations of sexual assault ever lobbed against the president.

E. Jean Carroll, best known for hosting a namesake talk show on NBC between 1994 and 1996, made the claim in New York magazine.
Carroll, now 75, said the rape took place in the fall of 1995 or spring 1996 while she was shopping at Bergdorf Goodman.

Trump — who has been accused of sexual misconduct by at least 19 women and has himself bragged on tape about his proclivity for grabbing women’s genitals — vehemently denied Carroll’s allegation via a White House spokesman.


“This is a completely false and unrealistic story surfacing 25 years after allegedly taking place and was created simply to make the president look bad,” the spokesman said.

The way rape has been described to me, it seems like remembering the event is like remembering where you were when Kennedy was shot or where you were on 9/11.

I lost my driver's license once and coincidentally the social security office had me under the wrong name so I had to run around various offices to get my identity in order. Pain in the ass to remedy this situation, but all I can tell you is it was also around 08 or 09. So... yeah.

*just kidding, modern progressives don't know who Emmett Till was.

That's kinda (I think) the point I'm trying to make. Even if she is telling the truth, nowadays and then, all it takes for a rape accusation to come to fruition is for a woman to say something. Even if there is plausible doubt, often the case would go though anyway.

Trump is a rich, white man (and the president of the United States). I'm sure this will be put on a pile of other rape accusations and nothing will happen. However, Emmett Till was accused of rape, and was burned alive without even a trial. The social status of Trump outweighs the average rape accusation moreso than an average black man.

The funny thing is, they're half right when they say that rape cases often don't resolve in legitimate legal punishment. They don't really. You can debate how much this is because assault claims often aren't valid, but that's what I'm going to dub a "Bernie argument" (trying to solve a later step problem before solving a crucial cornerstone issue, such as giving everyone free college when half the country's high school grads still aren't literate. Can't walk before you crawl). In this case that basic issue is that not enough legitimate victims of assault get police/medical reports on the record as soon as they can. But on the other side, the social PR side, of course accused assaulters often get fired and pariah'd by public response, seemingly proportionate to how rich/well-known they are. Staying out of prison is of course desirable but losing your work is also an issue.

Sadly true. Unfortunately socjus advocates often pervert this into arguing that the lower an accused's place on the ladder is, the more benefit of the doubt they should be accorded, because finding one black guy innocent is as good as finding another innocent regardless of whether the two are radically different people or whether one is an actual rapist and the other isn't. It leads to the unfortunate consequence that if you're actually raped, certain lefty extremists will only support you if your attacker is from a group they've already decided is the villain, otherwise you just get dismissed and pushed aside. Your real victimhood is an "acceptable casualty" for the cause.

She probably is jumping in on the bullshit train as well, there's no real reason to hide that Trump is a piece of shit anymore. If this was during election times, then I could understand. But come on, the fucker literally did everything that to piss off the liberals, some of the republicans, and the centrists. There is no reason why she held onto these hands of cards.
 
I hope Trump lifted a couple of nice designer suits while he was at it. Since apparently none of the staff or security at a high end department store were watching the area of the store people go in to steal stuff.
