not sure if I've posted this in this thread or not but at least new ducktales isn't made by people who actively hate the fans and everyone who watches it

unlike say, new star trek
Or don't bash the old show (the She-Ra reboot). Amazing what a little compassion for the viewers can do.

Huh, I wonder if Disney saw this before they hired her, lol.

Interesting that both of them also got small roles on The Big Bang Theory.

Both are better looking........way more better looking than 99.9% of the women where I live (doesn't help I'm surrounded by old people all the time)

Seems like a missed opportunity not having Gosalyn do the Bugmaster voice. (I understand story-wise that Gosalyn isn't a Darkwing Duck fan and therefore probably wouldn't know who the Bugmaster was, but c'mon, Launchpad couldn't have shown her a clip in the time it took them to sew those costumes?)

They're both at least moderately cute and unlike virtually all female comedians are actually funny too. I also like that their name commemorates the injustices done to all musical duos where there's someone second. Poor Art Garfunkel and John Oates. Never be the guy after the ampersand, you get fucking raped every time.

Randomly found this tweet by Matt Youngberg a while back, and i have never laughed harder in my entire life

Is it wrong to still say that I prefer the original 90’s version of Duck Tales over the current day one? I look at the new one and while there are some interesting improvements, I sometimes think the introduction to new female characters does not add anything new to the original.

It doesn't matter which is better, the classic or the reboot.

What matters is that in a day and age where reboots fall flat more often than not, we actually have one in Ducktales that will create new fans and make the old fans happy...a hard balance to strike these days.

There are things about the reboot that I'm not a fan of. The Lena/Webby stuff did virtually nothing for me, they focused a tad too much on the kids in season 1, and I'm not too high on Steelbeak and Glomgold being blithering idiots which feels like a downgrade from their older counterparts.

But the hits far outweigh the misses. I loved the Three Caballeros reunion, I loved how they handled Darkwing Duck, I love how they've handled Della Duck, I like the reinvention of Glittering Goldie, they took Doofus Drake (the worst character from the original show) and made him hilariously awesome, and Scrooge and Donald continue to be two of the best characters ever under the Disney banner.

I am more than willing to call this reboot a creative hit that I'm happy with.

Eh, Glomgold's a mixed bag for me, there's times where his shtick hits, but there's also times where he's obnoxious as hell. I do appreciate they gave him the comic origins though if nothing else. You're right about Stealbeak though, him being an idiot is just unnecessary.

I also want to add that Mark Beaks makes a good addition to the show's rouges' gallery. Given how modern billionaires have different ways of how they made and use their money compared to old school ones like Scrooge and making him an enjoyable douchebag doesn't hurt, either.

Sadly, this will be the last season of the show according to Frank Angones.

It's a shame since it was a good show and in a sea of mediocre reboots and cal-arts crap, this one had care put into it. Anyway, here's hoping that they'll finish the season and we'll get a DWD reboot. (Hopefully done by Matt and Frank.)

Update: Disney has confirmed our reporting with the following official statement: “The talented creative team, led by Matt Youngberg and Francisco Angones, have delivered exceptional storytelling with uniquely reimagined characters for three seasons of 75 episodes and more than 15 shorts. While physical production has wrapped, ‘DuckTales’ continues to be available on Disney Channels and Disney+ around the world and fans will get an epic season finale in 2021.”

original reporting below:
Yesterday, the hashtag #RenewDuckTales2017 was trending on Twitter. When I chimed in, stating that the rebooted DuckTales wouldn’t actually be coming back after completing the last few episodes of its typically superlative Season 3, well, that tweet unexpectedly blew up. So today I am writing to say, yes, DuckTales is done – and to give you the story behind its lack of a renewal.

Firstly, DuckTales has been finished for a little while now. Last September the team was informed that the show was over and they began closing up shop. The wonderfully talented crew has already begun working on other shows: For example, Dana Terrace, who directed a handful of the very best DuckTales episodes, now has her own brilliant series on Disney Channel, The Owl House (Season 2 coming soon!)

I'm all for regular animation as opposed to 3D but the artstyle just made them all look weird
