Well from my mom side we are Catalans/"southern franks" and from my dad side he's Murrican but his parents are from Sarre/Saarland (an area that has been part of France or Germany numerous times).

My Ancestry test says this mess tho

Weird, 6 months ago it said i had traces in the Caucasus and north africa but now they changed it.

I can understand gaving some Moor/ME trace but Indian and south american native?!

I think it's 50/50. 50% has to do with that loves Italian food and grew up among a lot of Italian restaurants and thinks saying he's Italian somehow makes his opinions on pizza more valid than someone who isn't Italian, and the other 50% is what you said. So he's not just a white American. See, he's a minority too! We get discriminated too! Our accents get mocked, he's not one of these privileged white Americans, I swear!
 
First of all, I believe Phil is maximum 25% Italian, and I would expect Phil to massively overexagerate the % of his Italian heritage so if he is saying 25% its likely far less. His mom is 50% Italian, 50% Polish according to him, I would bet money she is more like 75% Polish and 25% Italian.

Now does anyone find it strange he has never once talked about what his dad is? Clearly his dad is not Italian at all or phil would have said so, the Burnell surname is English so if I had to bet his Dad is 50% English and 50% Polish, which means phil could be as much as 75% Polish and it sure looks like it.

As far as why he wants to be Italian? This is a simple one, Phil grew up in the mid 80s to early 00's, during this time Italians were "cool" because of mob movies and especially the Sopranos. Any american mutt with Italian blood was out talking about being Italian during the Sopranos hay day. Knowing Phil, Jersey shore too.

As far as why he doesnt want to talk about being mostly Polish? Again simple, during this same time period Polish jokes were all the rage on how stupid they are. I remember growing up in school all the Polish submarine with a screen door jokes and shit no one in my school was even polish, dumb polock jokes were just that popular in the 90s.

All this reminds me of his post marriage retcon stream where he tried to explain he didnt just scam everyone and some fucking random in chat with no bit or sub badge said "Italian moms" and phil jumped all over that comment so fast and hard, proudly shouting it out to his viewers, so excited to put his mom as Italian (and not Polish).

Phil hates talking about his Polish heritage and he knows we know it, so he tries to basically play it off once in a while like its not big deal to try to throw us off the stench of the fact he hates and loathes being a dumb polock.

Great Phil, you are in total an average white European boy. Unless you experienced and lived in those countries this means nothing, maybe for your mother but not for you. You don't even speak Italian or Polish, you bring nothing related to your genetics to the table! You are 100% American, buddy.

Being partly Asian, African, Native American or Mid-Eastern, yeah, this would be somewhat "interesting" not only due to the skin color but also a very different culture. Maybe even Russian cuz of the shared history with the USA.

Even in those cases it's nothing to brag about especially when America is a hearth of countries molten together anyway (there, all my knowledge about USA). A really weak childish mindset if he finds himself this special cuz his ancestors decided to fuck each other. Probably even inside the own family if this misfortunate product called Phil Burnell results.

TBH, this is not unique to phil in the usa. a lot of people are all into their european heritage, going as far to put gay italian flags on their cars and hang italian flags from their house.

funny thing is, these people usually are so far removed from italy they might as well have come from south africa, it means nothing.

even funnier, i have family who actually grew up in italy and came to the usa as teenagers and they dont do the italian thing at all, they want to be known as american's 100%, funny how that works.

its usually the posers who pull this shit that phil pulls is my point.
 
1/8 Italian/Greek, 1/2 English and Irish, some Middle Eastern/North African, and the rest is Polish and German/Austrian. I grew up in a community where most people were other Anglo AF or Polish/Italian like DSP. My father is proud of being part Polish (immigrated to US in 1900's) for whatever reason. He thinks they're hardworking or some shit.
 
As a half-Sicilian, I think I'm qualified as a gatekeeper here, and I'm gonna go ahead and decide: Phil isn't Italian. He just isn't. Sorry Phil, but I don't make the rules (I just enforce what's written in the Protocols of the Elders of Ziti).

Burnell is English, but it's also a diminutive, thus probably a last name that was changed to sound English. Possibly to sound not Polack.
 
Im not surprised Phil takes so much pride in being 25% 50% italian, if Phil was a minority I would expect him to care about his heritage since a lot of minorities cant shut up about it,but Phil? Its his way to be special while doing nothing of note,its common for people with no acomplishments of their own to care so much about their race since they can use it as an excuse saying they are a minority opressed by whitey and thats why they did nothing of their lifes or they can latch on the acomplishments of their race if they are white.,

He said several times that he grew up in the mean streets of connecticut so most likely there were a lot of latino and black kids so phil was just the average white guy,so in order to feel special like the other kids he started identifying as italian since its much cooler than being polish. In any case he took his italian 25% 50% heritage as part of his identity because he is a fat diabeetus with man tits that only cares about food so he most likely thought "Hey,italians are cool in this point in time,and I also like fatty food like pizza and pasta,I KNOW! IM GOING TO IDENTIFY AS ITALIAN!." No man that cooks italian sauce like this can call himself italian.
