My cultural identity is an infinite guilt trip for World War 2. Basically the fap incident of a whole country. We are not allowed to have an identity, so I'm not sure what to strife for. Lederhosen, Sauerkraut and Bratwurst?

I’d say defy the guilt trip but that would probably land you in bad goy jail in your Europoor hellscape.

I don't have anything particularly important to do right now, so I might as well point out the following:
She implied in her question that you (yourself, not chinese in general, otherwise it makes little sense for her to ask that) make everyone take off their shoes when they come to your house, but then you say that this is not what you do where you're from, supposedly because you're "Chinese".

So do you make everyone take off their shoes when they go to your house or not?
As a general rule I ask people to take their shoes off but I don't make them, or offer them 'house slippers' or anything, I just don't like people tracking whatever random dogshit nonsense situation they may have going on through my house. If your feet smell worse with your shoes off, I don't give a shit, leave 'em on. This was just a random example of the things people say as they try to figure out "clues" that they "missed" about my "Chinese-ness". In rural China (where I tell them I'm from) this isn't really a thing that has any cultural specific adherence.

When I was younger I worked at a restaurant and had to sweep and mop the office every 2 weeks. The office floor was a mess of tangle electric cords so one day I untangled all the cords and coiled them up with twist-ties and got them all off the floor, I even untangled all the computer peripheral cords. When my boss asked me about it (she was impressed and felt I had gone above and beyond) I told her it 'improved the Feng Shui' and made for 'better energy flow across the floor' and that she would notice an increase in her productivity and focus due to the 'free'd up Earth energy'. After that anytime she was thinking about rearranging furniture/equipment in the restaurant she would always seek out my opinion, my ability to keep a straight face and think up bullshit on the fly has brought much entertainment to my life :lit:

IRL if asked about it I tell people that I am Chinese ethnically and somewhat culturally. About 90% of the time people belive me, I in no way look ethnically Chinese. I tell them I was born and raised there until I was 6, then just spout off some shit from Google maps and Wikipedia. Then they'll start telling me how they can see it in my facial features now that they "know". I had one girl say, 'Ohhh, is that why you make everyone take off their shoes when they come in your house?' I said, 'No! That's Japanese. The Japanese are bigoted assholes! We don't do that shit where I'm from.'

Moral of the story: Human stupidity and gullibility are Universal Constants.
How dare you culturally appropriate my backstory

I'm straight white male (with those evil Aryan genetics) living in the USA. I'm responsible for every atrocity in human history and it feels pretty fucking good. Because if people are gonna hate me for made up shit, they may as well make me genocidal. I just don't know if I'm supposed to be Polish or German; family history says Germany, but national boundaries changed after Hitler's going away party. If I had to choose, it'd be Germany; because someone better keep the dream alive before Merkel finishes them off.

What @Some JERK said a thousand times over. To those of us not infected by the SJW virus, your name and skin color does not matter. We don't care about your cultural/ethnic/sexual/made up identity. To quote Martin Luther King, Jr., "...they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character."
In other words, who you are is more important than what you are.
This.

Also, as much as I'd like to participate in this thread, I try not to powerlevel here, though I do appreciate the OP for trying to start a dialogue. I will say this, however: I respect my heritage, but unlike Phil I don't try to hide behind it, because I know there's more to me than that. Phil will hide behind his heritage because he's nothing outside of that. He's just a 37 year old manbaby with no job. So he'll pull from anything to make himself sound more interesting.

It shows how sad and pathetic he really is.

My ancestors came over from 'Ye Olde Countries' to North America centuries ago. My family has no close ties to any of those Parentlands. My part of Leafland has its own ethnic/cultural identity - by virtue of its unique history - and I strongly identify with that. But beyond that, to broader European nations? Not beyond drinking on Paddy's Day.

EDIT:

All that text.. just to prove that DSP's authentic Italian sauce isn't really authentic. :story:

The lack of herbs and the excessive amounts of water and sugar do that on their own quite nicely.

Imagine lusting so hard over being full European you make autistic vomit discussing something literally no one cares about here. Identity politics were a mistake, and no one here gives a shit about you or DSP's ancestry.

Isn't Phil breaking rules of Italian sauce making and not using a lot of recipes or is he stingy enough to cut around corner of some FINE ASS Italian ingredients?

So am I to understand that you consider your ethnic heritage and your cultural heritage to be the same? I'll play along here and say I'm a proud le 56%er but I don't really consider any of my ethnic forebears to be my cultural forebears as most of them emigrated to this country in the 40-60s from many disparate nations. That's not to say I wouldn't like to go and visit, see what my kin lived like back in the bad old days, but I definitely resist thinking of their cultural norms as being heritable. Anybody can move to this country and make the decision to assimilate to it's values. Of course, our government in it's infinite wisdom decided to write multiculturalism into our institutions so you don't have to assimilate, but in the long run I think it's better to become like your neighbours.

Also: This thread would be better served in Deep Thoughts, I think. You could still shit-talk DSP in the OP.
So we all have to assimilate to the cold, boring and square values of the angloWASP/Puritan?

French, British, Scottish, and Irish

When I go outside, my body becomes aflame like a roman candle.

I literally said the opposite, but yeah okay, you have to.

Also, I'm not a Yank so WASP doesn't apply, but there's more than just WASP culture in the States regardless. You could be a flinty new Englander, a faggy West Coaster, a Redneck, a Cajun, etc. You are aware that white people don't share a monolithic culture, right? It's not heritable (pretty sure I said that, too).

As a Scotsman living in Scotland, I feel safe confirming that I am Scottish.

I'm also part Irish which explains my adoration of alcohol.
Once my father started doing serious genealogical research on our family, he found out that his "Scottish" great grandmother may have been born in Scotland but she was 100% Irish ethnically. Both of her parents were born in Ireland (not Ulster, either).
