UN Drexel professor resigns amid threats over controversial tweets - All I want for Christmas is the removal of SJW idpol shit-stirrers

A Drexel University professor who received death threats after posting several controversial tweets said Thursday he is resigning because the year-long harassment has made his situation "unsustainable."

George Ciccariello-Maher, a professor of politics and global studies, had been teaching his class remotely via video conference after being put on administrative leave, a move that Drexel said was for his own safety.
The professor said his resignation is effective December 31.
"This is not a decision I take lightly; however, after nearly a year of harassment by right-wing, white supremacist media outlets and Internet mobs, after death threats and threats of violence directed against me and my family, my situation has become unsustainable," Ciccariello-Maher wrote on his Facebook account. "Staying at Drexel in the eye of this storm has become detrimental to my own writing, speaking, and organizing."

The professor said the threats began last December after he posted on Twitter: "All I Want for Christmas is White Genocide." He said the tweet was a joke, a "satirical jab at a certain paranoid racist fantasy and that white genocide does not exist."

Ciccariello-Maher drew more outrage in March after tweeting that he was "trying not to vomit" watching someone give up their first-class seat for a uniformed soldier. He said he was upset about airstrikes in Iraq that killed civilians and that his post was misrepresented by "right-wing media."
In October, the professor tweeted that "Trumpism" and the "narrative of white victimization" were to blame for the mass shooting in Las Vegas that left 58 people dead and more than 500 wounded.
Drexel said in a statement Thursday that Ciccariello-Maher was leaving to "pursue other opportunities" and that it wished him well.
"Drexel University has accepted his resignation and recognizes the significant scholarly contributions that Professor Ciccariello-Maher has made to the field of political thought and his service to the Drexel University community as an outstanding classroom teacher," the school said. "Drexel University wishes Professor Ciccariello-Maher well in his future pursuits."

Nobody is going to take a job with no future to it, and faculty are no longer considered teachers, but just service personnel to a bunch of spoiled SJW brats, who get worthless degrees in nothing subjects like gender studies, graduating in a huge amount of debt with no job.

Alternatively, they rush to what is billed as the latest guaranteed job-harvesting major, like Industrial Health and Safety. You can now go to a university and major in being the guy who puts that yellow and black OSHA tape on stuff. Don't get me wrong -- unlike whoever designed the Death Star and subsequent versions, I like safety railings. But the number of jobs in that field is ultimately finite, and when you come out the bottom of your class, with no internships, or anything to distinguish yourself, what the hell do you do? You majored in something highly specific, and now you're shaking the deep-fryer basket right alongside the gender studies guy, with just as much debt to pay off.

Mind, I'm not going in on this particular major, although I know some very disillusioned students who thought they could pass its required courses easily because they did well in STEM classes in high school. Ahahaha. But there are just as many sad faces on the psychology majors who signed up for that because (a) people always need counselors and/or (b) they like people and think that is the main qualification, when they hit their very first statistics class and 75% of the class fails the exam. I don't think we can blame a particular field of study, or if so, the "how do you get a job in that" majors like gender studies shoulder no more of the blame than "this will definitely lead me to a middle-class salary right out of college" majors, which make one wonder what a university, not a business college, is all about in current-year.

I have to admit in my undergrad career, the only actually useful required class in the whole time was the stats class, and the only useful skill was learning how to use stats software like SPSS. I laughed at the people crying as they failed that class or at least had to take it again. Stats are ridiculously fucking useful.
