No, it’s not some sort of secret scheme to eliminate the first amendment. The flag burning issue has always been a Republican talking point for decades, with amendments and legislation being proposed to make it illegal.

Unsurprisingly, the US is one of the few countries that does not punish flag desecration. I can absolutely understand why people would want punishment for that act, as it is attacking a national symbol. However, better for people to express their true feelings about the country through symbolic attacks such as flag burning, rather than be forced to hide under threat of arrest.

As Null has said before "Not one step back". Every right given up, no matter how small or dumb, is a right lost. Even flag burning should not be willfully given up.
You're right though, it's not a secret scheme. Trump has already expressed a desire to limit free speech by making it a crime to criticize pro-trump judges.

The reality is if Trump asked for a rule change and it didn’t happen they’d say the dems were “scared” and refused the changes. Frankly if there is a debate and the rules aren’t what you want then don’t debate. Both have this option.

But I think Kamala is in for a handful and I highly doubt she will practice for the debate properly and will insist she knows how to handle Donny and won’t do practice mock debates with a person who would act and argue like Trump. She has an ego that wouldnt allow it.

Donny has to lose the election and Kamala has to win the election. I just don’t know if she’s going to do the grunt work to win this or not.

If the strategy is to let Trump screw up in the debate then hand the trophy to Trump now because it won’t matter what he does in the debate; but it will matter what SHE does. And that’s the way it is.

I don’t disagree with your points but I think debates matter less and less over time in this increasingly polarized environment. I’m sure one side wants to see who can kick each other’s ass the hardest but the ultimate goal is convincing the remaining amount of undecideds, which are very likely a single digit percentage of voters at this point. So whoever wins, it may not be enough to move the needle in terms of actual voters.

Personally I think it’s outdated and the terms and conditions squabbling is inconsequential at this point. Kamala has not had to deal with Donald on the debate stage and would not surprise me if she is underprepared.
