I already get the feeling this is gonna have a Ghostbusters 2016 style cult (in every sense of the word) following. I remember seeing a tweet by some cosplay THOT who's name I don't remember saying she was in tears after Ghostbusters ended and rated it 10/10.
Man, I missed the days back when you either liked a movie or you didn't --long before sides were being drawn up between those who defend the movie and those who hate it -- the latter of which are demonized as hateful bigots.

Can you imagine if woketard society was this prevalent 40 years ago? Imagine if in 1980, George Lucas went on the Tonight Show and told the audience that if you don't like Empire Strikes Back, you're a racist who hates Lando for being black or you're a misogynist who hates strong independent women like Princess Leia...

This sounds like an utter dumpster fire and I’ve already cackled a bunch over the Dalmatian death scene. The memes that have come out are great. A few friends and I are going to watch it tonight (I’m definitely having a drink first).

The biggest problem with this movie is that, outside of the fashion visuals, it's very bland and cookie cutter. That Dalmation scene should have been a representation of the rest of the movie, over-the-top unintentional comedy ripping apart attempts at serious drama, but no, after the ridiculousness of seeing the Dalmations yeet a woman off a cliff, the movie is just a boring mash up of a heist movie and a 'corporations stealing and restricting creativity' movie. Cruella is 'quirky' genius who's dialouge is either whinging or snark 101, Jasper is just there to tell us when Cruella is amazing and when she's being too rude and the villain is just baby's first stuck up bitch. The only characters I enjoyed were Horace, the other fashion guy and that french security guard. By the time we had the reveal that Cruella is actually the estranged daughter of the villain and she's gotta get her inheritance; I was starting to wonder if the writer literally was just checking off tropes from 90's movies. Only for it to be capped off by getting the villain to let her true nature slip while not noticing that an entire crowd of party goers are standing right behind her to see it all.

The memes have made this movie's existence worth it.

I can't fucking believe Disney had Dalmatians kill Cruella's mom. That is simultaneously the absolute worst and the absolute best decision the idiots at Disney could have made. That shit is hilarious.

All have to say is this: Emma Stone does look cute as Cruella. That's not saying much though. I won't be wasting my time with this sad excuse of a movie.

Wow, turns out I was partially right based on what the leaks have shown 😂. Why did my dumb guess come true?

You want to know how the guys at Red Letter Media are able to make accurate predictions about movies? Experience with hack writers and unfiltered cynicism. It's a matter of asking "what's the worst thing that could happen?" and "what does the writer think is a good idea?" to union them into the laziest writing that has infected movies and modern storytelling.

On that note, I have seen people trying to praise it as "What Joker wanted to be" in terms of "sympathetic villain origin" movies. In those terms, it's laughable. Cruella shows a rebellious teenage girl who's mother is "killed" by Dalmatians "on the orders" of someone who is arrested by the end (Man against man conflict) of the film to sympathize with a cartoon animal abuser. Joker shows a mentally ill man who who's mother allowed her boyfriend to abuse him as a kid, gets beat up working as a clown by both street thugs and businessmen, fails as a comedian, and finally becomes a "working class hero" by killing 3 businessmen and a talk show host in the midst of civil working-class unrest in a city full of crime and unemployment. All of this man against society conflict and importance of mental healthcare narrative to sympathize with a comic book villain clown who fights a rich dude in a bat suit.

I'm going to watch it because I enjoy Emma Stone's acting and I read somewhere about how she was upset she couldn't have a smoking prop because while she isn't endorsing smoking she also isn't endorsing skinning puppies. That sort of human-elite relation makes me feel Emma is a relatable person vs. Hollywood degenerate.

Disney has a “no smoking” rule in their movies or something. I saw that article floating around.

Just got done watching it.

It's bad, real bad. The whole "dogs killed my mom" revenge plotline is impossible to take seriously, and it gets even more stupid and melodramatic when Cruella finds out that the Baroness (the owner of the Dalmatians and orchestrator of the murder) is her biological mother. It's also an hour longer than it needs to be and Emma Stone's overacting is painful.

If it weren't connected to Disney, it might've been a mediocre, albeit schlocky film. Pirate this shit if you must.

Interesting how Disney needs a Cruella live action movie, but not one for Atlantis: The Lost Empire

Then again, they’d probably screw that one up as well.
Probably too much of a risk to remake a property that flopped 2 decades ago. Though for all its flaws, I enjoyed the film, that and Treasure Planet.

I think if done right, both movies could have amazing visuals/cgi. But I imagine it would still end up on par with Disney's other remakes despite the 150-250M budget.

I took my significant other on a date to this dumpster fire.
Tldr it was really boring and odd.
The whole time I kept thinking this movie would have been a really interesting lady gaga musical instead of emma stone have lady gaga play cruella and made it like rocky horror picture show.

Well congrats Disney. This is the least awful remake I've seen. That's kind of like saying getting skin cancer isn't as bad as getting lung cancer. It was mostly boring, save the ridiculous meme-tragedy everyone is rightfully trashing.

What Disney and everybody else in the Entertainment Industrial Complex needs to do is stop recycling old material, write new characters and just let villains be evil. They don't all need relatable tragic backstories. Tripe like 'Cruella' sucks and makes no sense storywise.
