it's Buzz that takes the role of the "bride" (he wears a kilt)

- Diversity and inclusion!
- HaHa KiLt SkIrT!

And I really wonder why the writers are so obsessed with Buzz, or a new Buzz, or whatever, essentially acting like he did at the start of Toy Story 1.

I have two theories. One is that because it happened in the first two they feel like it's tradition somehow. The other is that they have no idea what Buzz's character is and writing a parody space ranger character is simpler than trying to figure it out. And if he's not the one doing it and instead it's a duplicate Buzz then they can substitute annoyance at his old self for a personality. The fourth movie and Lightyear both don't resemble Buzz at all, and Lightyear doesn't even resemble the toy Buzz, as if they didn't know who they were supposed to be writing.

I don't think they know what Woody's character is either but he doesn't have a story based alternative so they just go with "loser".

After the first one their personalities got more subtle, and Pixar now just writes themselves over and over or very exaggerated cartoonish characters. I don't think they have the writing chops to figure out something deeper than "BUZZ NOT REALLY SPACE RANGER, WOODY VERY JEALOUS". If you asked them to write a personality trait list for each of them they would struggle.

iirc the "easily clipped to portrait for tiktok/etc" has come up with a lot of the bigger titles? like I think I heard that about the last Superman

I watched a video on Elio that mentioned basically every shot or action is centralized, which gives the feeling that it’s supposed to be easily shared on TikTok.
https://youtube.com/watch?v=P5rf1sov3j0Saw some Xitter users argue “Well Mad Max did the same thing, and you didn’t complain then!” Yeah, because Mad Max is a fast paced action movie. You’re comparing apples to oranges.
Easy to crop for tiktok slop reels for easy marketing

Or the storyboarding was just lazy af its the Wish and Raya lady directing it after all
Animators rebelling against the rule of thirds, I think. But the TikTok explanation is more likely and it's disgusting.
Trying to make a movie "TikTok-able" will make it so that no one will want to watch it in the first place. It looks shit and thus it will be clipped only to be mocked.

Today's the 30th anniversary of The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Bells of Notre Dame is still the best opening to any Disney musical ever.

I missed out on a chance to watch it in theaters a couple years back, was so upset at myself for it. I'd love to see it as intended.

The Hunchback OST is a huge inspiration for my writing, I just listen to the whole thing to get me in the right mood.

It's not just TikTok but for phone users altogether. As they're expecting anyone watching the ads and movie, will be watching it on their phones.

I think all those "phone bad" boomer comics were right all along. Netflix has outright admitted that they've made their shows stupider and have the characters restate the plot constantly so that people watching on their phones can follow.

tbf if they were making normal commercial tv they'd be doing a restage with brief expository dialog after the commercial break, front loading the first few minutes to hook you
there's always been one bullshit or another
my most hated is "movies now all go 2h30m because it juices the metrics better" because soooooooooo many movies would be pretty great at a cool 87m

There's been too much of the same style of coming-of-age stories from Disney lately: A rebellious, abnormal t(w)een (usually female) goes on a magical, fish-out-of-water adventure, only for their parent(s) to accept them without any substantial compromise in the end.

Having a Disney movie where the young protagonist actually recognizes they've made a huge mistake and puts in the effort to fix it, or meets in the middle, would be fresh and subversive today. It says a lot about modern writers that they fixate on revolting against their family or community, when early Pixar habitually depicted healthy leads in paternal positions.

That's not to say that discussions on generational trauma or abusive authority figures are not worth having. It is to say that true healing means being able to move on to other thoughts and ideas. Being well into your 30s and blaming the people around you for your lack of an idealized childhood helps no one, especially when you are making fiction that millions will absorb and form their worldviews from.

Throw back to the Toy Story 3 poster where Buzz, in unfamiliar territory, puts his arm protectively in front of Jessie.

This single image is more sweet than anything Disney or Pixar have done in over a decade. I don't even like this movie and this cute detail has stuck with me.
Interesting, really a contrast to male Disney leads you'd see today. Because traditional masculinity is bad or something.

Última edición:
they're holding off on a crossover where Helen's ass teams up with Peg's ass and the Turning Red Mom's ass and various other classic Disney milf asses
Hilarious, but we all know that Disney’s legal department would shoot down the idea of their theatrical animations crossing over with their television animation.

Disney released a few commemorative pins for the anniversary last week and I saw ‘em at the Disneyland resort over the weekend, they even had a mystery pin set for it too.

Meanwhile, Atlantis only had two pins and you can still buy ‘em in the parks despite one of ‘em being a 4,000 LE pin,
