While there a lot of factors to Dev's decline, one of the primary ones is his lack of understanding of the Right. Notice how, for all he says and talks about them, the only motivation he gives the Right is that they're Evil. This is in stark contrast to his coverage of Communism and socialism where he can explain the motivation, the ideology, and the mindset that leads to those positions.

Due to Conservative and Right-Wing Ideologies being effectively excised from Academia, the only people who know how the Right think are those with extensive interaction with the Right. You have to be in the weeds of Right-Wing discussion to know how they think. And Dev avoids it.

Dev is ignorant of the Right, and rather then address that ignorance to better indorm his audience, he chooses to label them as evil due to opposing their position.

IMO, it's not even that he doesn't understand the right. In many cases, he can articulate some of the logic behind it.
Rather, the issue is moreso that when going against the right, he goes after it from an emotional perspective first, with any logical reasoning simply being a protective "coating" or whatever. For him, that emotional core is not present when arguing against the commies and the like; which makes it much easier for him to take them down.
But when he starts arguing with the right, he specifically views himself as "the center-left 'good' position" and the right (even the moderate right) as the 'bad' position; thus pretty much every argument starts with the core of "this is the right's position and it's BAD", and then trying to find the points to justify that position, regardless of their validity.

Otherwise, you're right. Dev doesn't like the direction the pendulum is swinging and is futility trying to reject it. But he doesn't understand why this is happening so all his efforts amount to ad hominem attacks towards his opposition.

For Dev to admit he is wrong and how he lives his life is wrong is essentially asking for death of the self. Dev is incapable of admitting fault when it matters. He lacks the self introspection to admit that living a life of (loser)hedonism and barely supporting yourself with YouTube is probably the wrong way to go through life. It would also mean that he is not a great intellectual, which is how he views himself.

Dev is either 40 or approaching 40. A time when most men are established professionals in their career field. He's still bumming around in the basement of YouTube as he spends 18 hours a day living in an actual basement and playing WoW. He's balding, he's fat, his YouTube career is failing. I wouldn't want to face reality either, but that is life and facing up to your own shortcomings is part of life. That's a hard one, we had before unseen red flags of him being an evil piece of shit, mine was when he condemn that poor guy who killed in self defense from a phsycho trying to smear him as a pedophile just to fuck with him and was also armed and dangerous and Dev sided with his commie can00k government and demonizes the poor guy.

That was one big red flag even I didn't give it's weight needed back then, big mistake.

That was certainly one of the videos. However, Dev did that stream where he covered the start of the Ukraine War. In it, he gave a gay speech about how American needs to go fight Russia. But when asked if he would enlist, he said he was "too fat" to be useful. That moment was when my opinion on him tanked completely and he's never recovered from it.

Dev did a podcast on the Ukraine invasion today, and it's honestly one of the most cowardly and two faced things I've listened to in a while. Dev is going on in on about how the evil Russians are at our door like the Nazis and we need to stand tall and stop the Third Reich from rising up. When asked if Dev would join the army to help, his response was "I'm too fat, so they won't accept me." Meanwhile, his pet troon is crying in the corner over war footage and talking about how this evil is too much and how the American people are cowards for not jumping head first into the conflict to help the poor Ukrainian children. For people who are so anti-war, they're awfully quick to have other people fight their battles for them.

Honestly it wouldn't even be that bad if he was actually doing something for them. Even if he doesn't enlist (which he can't because Ukraine realized 99% of foreign fighters were a net negative) he could at least send money, fund raise, could go work a factory for them.
