they are necessary, but insane, we have tons and tons of jobs that pay really well, but they are pointless, they exist to keep everything afloat.
bafflingly, important jobs are heavily scrutinized, every bit of labor cost is weighed, every hour you work is eyeballed with contempt, as a Professional Meat Cutter, every aspect of my employment is like a battle with the company that needs me to keep an important part of their stores functioning, yet the people above my Store Manager work completely pointless jobs and make 5 to 10x my pay, and no one every gives a fuck what they do, or don't do.
the sheer disparity of the Make-Work jobs and their pay and comfort levels and lack of scrutiny to mine is infuriating enough that I wish all of it would be destroyed.
