These DDoS sagas are one of the reasons Mad at the Internet is my favorite podcast. Whenever they occur, it is always the fault of the most rabidly stupid and/or insane people in the Western world.

The Sisyphean Saga of Moon places a retrograde, Old Internet web forum up against psychotic emulation developers, Discord Predators, obnoxious E-Celebs, the gayest regime in history (the Biden Administration), and millionaire tech CEOs. More than David vs. Goliath, the history of KF is David vs. Legion. It encapsulates fully how brain-broken the average Westerner is when it comes to politics. (Nearly all of us can recall a moment where a subject is broached with someone IRL, and a mental shutdown occurs. It recently occurred for me when someone I know flipped out over my use of the term "terrorist", and in the same breath engaged in Tienanmen Square apologia. This person was White fyi)

Whatever term you want to use for it (e.g. Derangement Syndrome, Firmware Update, the Fluoride Stare), invoking KF is a sure-fire way to induce it in people that can be otherwise intelligent (Neither Rekieta, Matthew Prince, or byuu and his entourage were immune). Beyond the petty Internet bullshit, however, you will find that people IRL will default to a similar form of knee-jerk venom-spitting when certain issues are broached.

To circle back to Moon's podcast; Josh rutting up against every single life-ruination tactic as he is forced to contend with the literal dregs of society, while at the same time being one of the most despised online figures within Internet drama spheres and the board meetings of multi-billion dollar tech companies, is an image that belongs in a Pynchon novel, not an in real life podcast where a man attempts to have a U.S. legal website that just works.

In summary: Mad at the Internet is one of the greatest encapsulations of the 21st Century American experience. It shows that no matter how many rules you abide by, no matter what efforts you make to ensure laws are not infringed, and no matter how many people you reach out to; if specific evil people hate you and want to see you dead, you will be forced to drag a boulder up a hill by your balls until morale improves, or you die.

Americans are all Kiwis on Treadmills. The ride never ends.

From my understanding you do VPN on first and then Tor. From what I'm reading here suggests if you are really dumb and use some shit like NordVPN you may be assraped someday. Someone correct me if I'm wrong though but this just seems to boil down to someone not turning a vpn on or making sure the vpn stays on. Though I must admit networking was something I didn't pay attention to in class. Though it didn't exactly cover stuff like this anyway.

That not to say that glowies, troons, animal-torturing SEAmonkeys, izzat-seeking jeets and/or other bad actors have never been behind any DDoS attacks against the Farms, but tbh I was honestly not expecting the prime suspects to be two terminally online reprobates who identify as their assigned-at-birth genders scraping together their pocket money.

I guess us Farmers just pop off at the mouth (or pen) at the first sign of attack and assume it's everybody's favourite brick-faced thorn in Null's side, or that Bella's Dad has a very long memory and plenty of contacts from his days as a Three Letter Agency operative from whom he can call in favours.

The most frightening part is that it's now possible for poorfags to buy levels of DDoS firepower hitherto restricted to nationstates and people who can afford to light $10k worth of crypto on fire every 30 minutes.

This effectively turns all but the largest servers with the most chonky connections into sitting ducks, which to leads to some seriously deep-thunking rabbit holes. But exploring those will just further derail this thread.
