Moviebob, who believed his massive tantrum about Gunn being fired by Disney was so loud Disney reversed it, shills hard for Gunn.

Speaking of James Gunn, one of his favorite writers he selected to work on DC adaptations was busted for filming children in the bathroom. Supergirl has a scene where she pees with the bathroom door open. Think of that as you will.

If Supergirl were good or fun OR if she wasn't a cunt retard in the marketing, then Aycock's looks wouldn't matter. But none of those are true, so the only enjoyment to be had from the movie is shitting on it, and her looking like a Neanderthal is as good a place to start as any.

She looks like she'd steal cash out of your wallet while rescuing you.
Well said.

I tried to start a conversation about it a while ago but failed. Hopefully this works.

After Snow White, everyone should have figured out that mouthing off is not a wise strategy. Milly could have looked like Beyonce's prettier twin and that attitude would have still tanked the movie.

Even considering Gunn was involved, this movie looks like one of those attempts by other people at knocking off Guardians of the Galaxy (though you saw more of it in comics and sci-fi novels nobody read (that usually had something like "like a cross between The Guardians of the Galaxy and [x]..." in their blurbs, and in videogames and such) the whole current DCU such as it is feels like it's ten years late to the party. Well, the Snyder era DCU felt years late to the party as well.

Link and archive for anyone who wants to read the story. Hope they throw away the key.

But far as I can tell, he has no links to James Gunn. And last time he worked on Batman was "Batman: The Definitive History of The Dark Knight in Comics, Film, and Beyond, Updated Edition (2022)" book, and never even wrote a Batman comic. If I'm wrong can you please post your source.

It's been both disappointing and eye opening learning how much of a one trick pony big name Hollywood directors are.

I used to think Gunn was just making due with what the little he had, C list characters.. But he really is a one trick pony. He is just doing Guardians, over and over again. Even his Superman was just a nicer Star Lord.

Compare with the animation people like Weisman. He managed to do Spider-man, Gargoyles, and Young Justice , despite all of them being wildly different, and, it worked.

The animation people are just better, I wish they would see it too.

Well, it is the DC thread and he did things for DC so it is good enough.

There always were OTPs in Hollywood. Problem is that they fail to recognize them. "Auteur" was the term we used to call them by but now we treat them as if they are "Jacks of all trades".

i liked superman
i would like to see supergirl
i wish there was legitimate critique/reviews for it but everything that's been pushed to me is either milly alcock le bad or right wing grifter le bad
searing hot take: both hollywood and the critical drinker orbit are bottom of the barrel retards, I just want to know if the movie is worth watching.
I actually really liked it. The comic is pure ass so I had kinda low hopes but it really wasn't as bad as people make it out to be. Looking forward to man of tomorrow.

irl buddy who watches pretty much any horrible shit says it's really fucking bad, not really even funny bad
but Momoa really kills it as Lobo to the point it's annoying how little of the movie is THE MAIN MAN

...this is how I found out the Momoa casting isn't as Aquaman, but a different fucking character?!? I know Lobo was in this movie but never once thought in the discourse that Momoa would be playing him and not Aquaman as a cameo.
So DC is doing the same shit as Marvel casting RDJ as both Iron Man and Doom. What the fuck?

I hope this leads to Supergirl being put back in the fridge and Lobo never getting adapted again.

Lobo is everything wrong with comics in a character and was the rot before it became the rot.
A shame really. Supergirl has been mostly subpar in both comics, and live action, but Supergirl has always rocked in animation.

I genuinely think she had the potential to be as popular as Starfire. Too bad Gunn picked one of the worst versions of Supergirl, and one of the worst stories to adapt from (Tom King's), and made her an obnoxious girl boss.

Like @Incecticyder said even a wholesome farm girl approach might had made her more likeable with Milly. But you get the worst of both worlds an ugly actress that just doesn't look like Kara, and with an unlikeable personality.
