DC was feeling daring were they?
the most inoffensive and fake snowflake identity
Honestly, she strikes me as the kind that would be bisexual rather than lesbian. Using others for sex and children makes more sense than her being in love. I see her as someone for whom a spouse is something like a favored toy as opposed to equal.

Same problem with Wonder Woman really.

You have a female character that has the potential to be cool, but everyone thinks they need to make a strong statement about women or feminism, so they make her an unlikeable girll boss. It happend with the CW, and it happened with Gunn.

Just hire ayoung pretty white woman, preferably on her teens, and use one of the templates of the animated series like DCAU, DCSPHG, or even MAWs.
They always feel the need to make a statement! That is what makes WW stories forgettable. Every other hero is allowed to be fun with no baggage. WW has to be the feminist even when stopping a bank robbery.

Gunn forgot that you need to appeal to both sexes to get big-money success, which means you need a woman pretty enough to pull in the men as well.

Either that or he didn't know how to cast Supergirl until he saw Milly Alcock's face and it brought back memories of his childhood pitbull or something.
Alcock has a homely face. Not ugly but you wouldn't think of her as one of your hotter classmates. Wouldn't chase her off the bed but she wouldn't be among your first few choices to bring to the bed in the first place either. She is definitely not the kind of woman that is attractive enough for other women to want to be her. Kristen Steward was the same but she had the advantage of Robert Pattinson's character pursuing hers. Milly is a bitch but not attractive enough to be a sexy, evil queen and she isn't being lusted after by a vampiric heartthrob that is being played by a British heartthrob.

Surprisingly Wonder Woman has had better luck in live action. Both Lynda and Gal Gadot were charismatic and likeable. She has the opposite problem from Supergirl in that her animated and Game appereances have been mostly terrible with few exceptions.
Gal is a puppet actress. She can get a good performance when you tell her EXACTLY what to do. Otherwise, she is unreliable. Still, she knows how to act when giving interviews.

Even in the lauded DCAU she is mostly remembered for people wanting to ship her with Bruce, annd she ended up eclipses by Hawkgirl of all people.
I liked Hawkgirl in there. She was well written.

they'll have to do it sooner rather than later. 2026 showed a 24% decline of hollywood based productions. in a few years, a chinese nuke would be a symbolic gesture.
Considering the rate it is emptying, the nuke would kill only wildlife.

Isabela Merced is cute but like most of Hollywood had brain rot.
Hola soy Hawkgirl! I wish they continued the Dora the Explorer franchise with her. It was actually a decent adventure movie for kids.

Zack Snyder is gonna be back for the DCU isn't he. They're gonna do Zack Snyder's justice League 2 with old superman, older batman, Aquaman would have died going back to his home planet, and the flash running like he's doing yoga.

Would that be so bad?
I mean... Can it really get worse?

Gal Gadot is not a good actress and I guess mildly attractive for a jew.
Israel flew too close to the sun trying to make Gadot a superstar.

She is moderately tall. Merced is barely five feet tall. She looks younger than Milly Alcock, yet Supergirl's supposed to be a delinquent.

It's so over when shills like Grace Randolph don't even like your movie.
Gunn forgot that you need to appeal to both sexes to get big-money success, which means you need a woman pretty enough to pull in the men as well.
Regardless of one's opinion of Grace Randolph, she is capable of performing basic box office calculations, which Midnight Edge and The Quartering often fail to do due to apparent political bias. She’s also one of the first people who warned that Milly Alcock being future box office poison. From what I hear Grace Randolph or people close her met Milly Alcock in person. Milly a huge cunt in person in real life.

To be fair, I said she was likeable and charismatic, but I never said she was a good actress for a reason. The first Wonder Woman movie actually managed to disguise her lack of acting skills decently. Not perfectly. But they did.

In fact most of the complaints of her being a bad actress, and all those silly clips of her being ridiculous, are from movies after that one.

I liked Hawkgirl in there. She was well written.

So did I. But the difference is that Hawkgirl was allowed to be a person, even a betrayer, while, Wonder Woman was again a walking statement about women, or angry, and Bruce’s love interest half the other time.

James Gunn is so in over his head and such a hack at this point that he can't even compete with the MCU in its current state. LOL.

This movie is projected to lose more money than The Marvels. THE MARVELS.

Also, in regards to Gal Gadot ...

I still stand by my statement that with a good script, she's a fantastic Wonder Woman. Sure, she's not a good actress across the board, but she does have a natural charisma to her. And when a script allows for her to show that natural charisma, she's very likable in a role. I loved her in the first Wonder Woman movie.

Her last appearances as Wonder Woman, the Shazam sequel that nobody saw and The Flash, her cameos were actually charming.

Supergirl 26 just looks awful. The bad CG, the muddy look that's apparently constant throughout, fuckin Aquaman returning to do his stupid "Mah man!" routine. Also that retarded dog they keep thinking is going to be the next Baby Yoda.

And despite being aimed at people under forty-five it's filled with that godawful Gen X nihilistic rage against the machine bullshit that should have died out in the '90s. Just look at the poster: "Truth. Justice. Whatever." Oh fuck off.

Never saw the 1984 film with Helen Slater, but I’m aware it was produced by Alexander Salkind who kicked Richard Donner off of Superman 2.
I finally saw the whole thing many years ago and it was kind of underwhelming. Helen Slater is magical to look at, like she was born to play the character, but it was a mediocre film that was apparently hamstrung from the beginning because Christopher Reeve refused to be in it so they had to scramble to rewrite it, the budget got cut, and I think the version we got was chopped down ala The Avengers (the real one from 1998, not the later capeslop).

Agreed.

I think that while it’s true Gadot isn’t good actress, she does the body and the huge charisma required for the role, and she managed to have normies have genuine interest, and also like, Wonder Woman.

To be honest many of those cringy scenes that went viral should just had been cut. If I recall correctly Gal Gadot and Joss Whedon had a feud on set, so I wouldn’t be surprised if Whedon kept the “Kal-El No!” line to make her look bad. Snyder kept it too, but he tweaked it.

Nobody had issues with the first Wonder Woman because it was well edited, and played on Gadot’s strengths. I wouldn’t be surprised if that movie too also cut some cringy lines.

Yeah, they did so much with the rest of the female cast. EVEN CHEETAH got one scene where she is a person!

She needs someone to direct her. She can take orders but she cannot improvise. I assume that they were not into giving her as many directions in the second movie. As for Whedon, I am inclined to believe it. He is a cunt of a male feminist and vindictively petty.

I think Godot's biggest problem is that english clearly isn't her first langue and it makes her come off as stilted. That said when the script is built around her being a fish out of water or she is relaxed she is likable and clearly cares about what she is doing and takes it seriously even when the scene is badly written and for me that goes a long way when playing a Superhero.

I think it worked really well in her first movie because it played into her being an outsider, so her having trouble with English worked.

She needs someone to direct her, and she needs a good script.

She tends to do a lot better with dialogue that feels more down to earth and grounded. She stumbles hilariously when it comes to exposition, or when it comes to cue card-esque dialogue (if that makes sense).

In the first Wonder Woman movie, Patty Jenkins did a great job directing her. Most of her dialogue comes from a character who exudes optimism and naivete, and Diana was a "fish out of water" type character, which works great for a foreign actress in a big blockbuster movie for Western audiences.

I’m gonna see Supergirl this week, I’m holding off judgment. I thought the last Superman was… fine.

The Supergirl from ’84 is as bad as I feared. Peter O’Toole carries the movie and he's in it for ...two scenes? Argo City is kinda interesting for a minute.

1000155774.webp

What’s Selena’s deal? If she’s such a powerful sorceress why the fuck is she squatting in a condemned funhouse like a meth head? The Joker does that.

Boyfriend/henchman Peter Cook is the only one with two brain cells.

1000155778.webp

It's not a movie. It's like a two part Lynda Carter episode where she teams up with a leprechaun to get his gold back, or one of those Lois & Clark episodes where every criminal in Metropolis is trying to mind-control or fuck Lois.

Let’s move away for Supergirl for a sec, as I bring you news on a much more beloved DC heroine:

We also got this image which looks to have Plastic Man and Static Shock?
IMG_0319.png

Curious how this will pan out, especially seeing as it seems like they finally got the ability to mess around with Amethyst again and maybe follow up her DC shorts, please…

I also wonder if Paramount is also going to use DC Comics for their comic book of their own IP like Star Trek, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Yellowstone like how Disney uses Marvel for their Star Wars comics.
